Just came back from a long run in sunny Berlin. Now freshly showered with a post run meal on the couch watching this video. Life is good :)

Just recently realised what a seriously fast pace you guys are running! I basically never run, except i procrastinate too long until there is no time to get a good mountainbike ride in. Then i might go for a quick run. That happens maybe 2 times per year, that i actually go for a run then. So, recently it was the case again and i tracked my route and measured the time out of curiousity. I needed pretty much bang on 37 min for a 5.1km loop with 110m elevation. If you count 100m elevation gain as effort for a flat 1 km, that makes pretty much 6 min/km. So you guys have a whopping 1min 40s / km on me, when 10 miles (16 km) in to your run...

0:06 I still can get my head around why sometimes athletes represent Great Britain and sometimes only England, Scotland or Wales. For example, in athletics I think I only saw Great Britain uniforms, but in football England, Scotland and Wales are represented separately. Could anyone explain it to me? It's so confusing ahah
@fishflake12098 ай бұрын
England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland are the four “home nations” of the UK; in domestic and Commonwealth-based competitions, athletes represent their home nation. In other international competitions, athletes from England, Scotland, and Wales represent Great Britain; athletes from Northern Ireland may choose to represent either Great Britain or Ireland. Competitions between the home nations in football, rugby, and cricket predate the spread of those sports internationally, so they continue to be recognized separately in lieu of a unified Great Britain team. (Two exceptions: rugby and cricket field all-Ireland teams, and the English cricket team includes Wales.)

They are going faster than my 5k race pace on their easy day!! If I can do my 5 k in 29 mins (or less if a miracle happens!!), I’m one happy girl!! (Oddly enough, doing a 10 k, my second 5 k is anywhere from 2-5 mins faster!!!!)
@edithgruber21258 ай бұрын
yep, they started at my 10k race pace then shifted gears to my 5k pace in the second half. Amazing athletes! It's all relative, Phily's 10k pace is 5:14 m/m or 3:16 min/km so she's running much slower here, between 7:00-7:15 min/mi or 4:30-40 min/km. Running 2 min/mi or 1:20 min/km slower than your race pace is a good easy pace. I try to do that, too, running around 9:15-30 min/mi on my easy runs when my 10k pace is 7:15 min/mi (5:45-55 min/km and 4:30 respectively).
@Mrs.M_088 ай бұрын
Id love to know (I've never had a coach...) how in the heck these athletes look so very relaxed and effortless and not Even like they're pushing at a pace I've literally only ever achieved a few times while sprinting. I know I'm under 5ft tall, but ... I mean ... How?
@acasualviewer58618 ай бұрын
Yeah I ran a 5:50 min/km 10k yesterday.. maybe I'll walk again someday, but not today. These ladies were cruising at 4:22 min/km for almost triple that distance in their "easy run".. and I've seen them run much faster.

I’m not quite sure that driving to a run is the best way to improve a community’s fitness. Of course it will work for some, but exercise as part of life is a more attractive way to stay healthy.
