I had a spare 5 minutes so thought I'd try to get the 100km/ph TOP SPEED "badge" on ZWIFT. It turns out you need a bit more than 5 minutes.
It's also not a suitable task for a rest day.

Well done and congrats on the achievement! As a side note, if you’re leveled up enough and have enough “drops”, buy the Zipp 808 rims and equip the TT bike with them. Their rating is 4 stars for aero and 1 star for weight. Exactly what you need: more weight and less air resistance. And not to say you did anything wrong but if you let gravity do most of the work until just before the final straight, you can get up to 85-ish kph easily. (I’m 87kg). At that corner, give it all you got and it’s only about 15kph more to gain. Again, well done mate!

Probably a good time to mention the everesting badge.... now that's a good one. Set aside about 13 hours!

@@MarkLewisfitness o yeah. You're hooked. Lol. Make sure you choose the everest and not California or Italy challenge or you won't get the tron. Also the everesting badge is different than the everesting challenge.... 29k feet of climb in one zwift ride. And if you want to compete a true veverest check out everesting.cc/virtual-everesting-rules/

Thinking of having a similar setup in my garage, is yours quite cold? Not worried about me, more about leaving a tv in there and using it when temps outside are close to or below 0c, my garage is really cold, no chance of water getting in, just drafts.

Mark - love your video on this. I've killer myself a couple of times to try and get the 100kph badge - and now I know better, I should e switching to my TT bike and using an aerohelmet - cheers for this. Love your work!

And if you’re leveled up and accumulated enough XP, buy and equip the Zipp 808 rims with the TT bike. Very aero and pretty heavy.

"What?? I've got some new socks?" That made me laugh. So random! Why did you randomly get a pair of socks half way up the radio tower? OH! I see! You went up a level. That would explain it. =D Ha! That was delightful to watch. I was cheering you on. Yeeeessssss! Well done. "Nailed it" =D

The only "powerups" you can earn whilst on a TT bike are the ones that give you XP to your level, also drafting does not work on the TT bikes

How do you find the Tacx smart trainer on your other bikes while using Zwift? Is it comparable / better being on an actual bike - or much of a muchness?

Had a go at this today - got to the top but didn't have the helmet. Went anyway on the TT bike with Zipp 808 wheels and legs flying like a whirling dervish. Only managed 99.3 . Need to get that helmet for next attempt.

Hey Mark, how are you getting Zwift on the TV? I’m currently using my iPad
@MarkLewisfitness
@MarkLewisfitness 3 жыл бұрын
I run the software on my MacBook and the Samsung TV I have has built in airplay so all I do is hit screen mirror on the MacBook and without ever having to touch the TV, it just appears! It’s like high-tech magic!!! Making sure I had airplay built into the TV was something I look for when buying that set.

@@MarkLewisfitness ah fair one. I was hoping to connect it to my TV through the fire stick but doesn’t appear to be compatible. Might have to use the MacBook with a HDMI cable, will check to see if my TV is compatible with Air Play but I doubt it. Good channel btw, been smashing through the videos ha

One thing he didn’t mention is that if you are leveled up enough and have enough XP, buy the Zipp 808 rims to use here. You want the most aero and ironically, the most weight. And have a big breakfast which you weigh yourself after and adjust the weight accordingly on your profile😉

@@CapybaraCM I used the zwift tri bike and the zip 808. However, even when I eat an entire Costco pizza alone I'm still only 65kg max. On normal days like the day I tried to get the achievement I was 59.4kg. 😹

The reason you got the XP bonus on the sprint was because you were on the TT bike. You don’t get power ups on a TT bike

Well done - Better to have 100% Trainer difficulty - Consider Trainer difficulty to be gearing - Lower trainer difficulty equals lower gearing, Higher trainer difficulty equals higher gearing. That is why you can have a higher cadance uphill with a lower setting than with a higher setting - Getting to the Top however still requires the same Watts.
@jbspillman

so making the slider move towards right allows for more top end speed gearing and left for more rpm's or climbing gears?
@hrpzwift945
@hrpzwift945 3 жыл бұрын
@@jbspillman Yes - there are people arguing that it is bad for competion to use the slider and they are somewhat correct in the sense that the gearing you can get with the slider covers a bigger range of gearing than is possible in real life. But having to change the gearing on the bike for real to be able to climb the mountains on zwift would suck big time and also some of the new smartbikes on the market can also be setup to gearings that isnt possible in reality. Setting the slider lower for instance the 50% that is the default setting also makes a 10% decent feel like a 5% decent, hence giving you an disadvantsges over riders at a 100%
@jbspillman
@jbspillman 3 жыл бұрын
@@hrpzwift945 Friend of mine is saying "I'm not really climbing the hills." if I don't slide the slider all the way to 100%...
@hrpzwift945
@hrpzwift945 3 жыл бұрын
@@jbspillman That is correct, if you in zwift successfully ride a 10% incline with a 50% trainer difficulty (TD) and you then in real life also ride a 10% incline on the same bike/gearing then you might experince that you can't ride the incline in real life because the gearing on the bike on zwift and in real life isn't the same. However if your did ride with a 100% TD in zwift, then your hardware/bike gearing is used on zwift and you will be able to compare the stress on the legs as it would be on the real road. But it still requires the same watts to get to the top of the climb, regardsless of the TD, in one way it is by using rpm/cardio and the other by using more muscles, like it would be with different gearings.
@hrpzwift945
@hrpzwift945 3 жыл бұрын
@@jbspillman also here is a link to a test that shane miller of gplama has done on the issue. But the remember that TD lets you set unrealistic gearing (for instans setting it to 0) requiring very little muscle work. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZ7Nco2vnbSfqpI

Just saw this... think of the "Trainer Difficulty" setting as saying "Increase the Size of your Cassette Cogs" [on the left most setting] >"Leave Cassette as Standard Sizing" [on the right most setting]. Seriously. Think 'bout that one for a bit. This is what it does. Now you'd been better off with the setting to be placed to the far right "Leave Cassette as Standard Sizing" for this down hill effort to reach 100kph..... For flattish rides and shorter climbs I recommend the same. For Alpe Efforts or rides with alot of hills - moving it to the middle [+/-} works well as it allows you to run a straighter chainline on the climbs.......when you are between climbs - your actual 11 tooth cog will be "Increase[d]" - say to a virtual 14 tooth cog so you will need to spin faster to reach higher speeds - but since you are between climbs [and not racing presumably] this will not ruin your day.
@martinparker3539
@martinparker3539 3 жыл бұрын
I don't think this is quite right, you have more chance of spinning out downhill when at the far right as zwift assists you downhill. At far left power output is like a flat road so downhill you can keep better chainline.
