How do you price your work? Materials are obvious, but what do you charge for your time, and what percentage do you mark up? I worked for Zale's years ago and we marked up 2.5 times. That would be helpful. Maybe a video about that or shorter would just be to respond here. However, it would be cool to watch you make something and see how you determine material costs, your time, and ultimately what you would like to get for a piece of work, what the total of your time and materials, overhead, etc., total up to. Is that something you can show us?

Hi Andrew, love your videos! I haven’t seen any explanation on how to get the soldered ends of the bezel keep the same width spacing if they don’t line up correctly. Is this something that could be made into a video? Thank you for all you do for the jewelry community.🤗

Your instructions for this tool are easier to follow than Jim Brandvik's videos. OR maybe it took me seeing both to finally get it. Thanks, Andrew!

Now that you have your castellated bezel cut you should do a video on how you made the turquoise ring, or maybe some earrings to go with the turquoise ring you already made.

Nice idea The time to line up and cut to slow, What if you cut into clamp to make the cut by so don't need the gauge have two different clamps for each size?.

How difficult is it to set a turquoise cabochon (for example) in this bezel? So far I've only used much thinner fine silver bezel wire.

Hi I have bought it from you it’s great jig but I find it very hard to set the stone even when I Annealed almost i posible to Bend once the stone is set I used 1mm silver
@Atthebench
@Atthebench 6 жыл бұрын
Are you cutting down the strip because pushing the thin fingers over the stone should not be that hard.
@mimardelplata
@mimardelplata 6 жыл бұрын
I don’t know what it is need to make a new one and try again once I solder the strip to the base it like stiff ,! I put the stone in ; and feels very stiff to push it over the stone ; and the problem is I am using an oval stone which make it difficult to measure it too ; I’m confused how to measure a cabuchon stone oval

I got this tool but returned it for the following reasons. It only works for 18G and thicker metal ( should have watched this video before purchased ), and is made from aluminum and really easy to be cut with a saw. So you have to be really careful. And this tool costs $80 which is not cheap at all. I would kept it if it costs $60 though.

TOTALLY AGREE! Unfortunately I tried some 20 GA material with a shim under it and wound up scratching the aluminum block, so I cannot return, but WOULD IF I COULD !

Are the 2 and 2.5 mm steps enough for all stone sizes? I am thinking, you might get a visible shorter "peg"? Or do you just take the next bigger step and bend the bezel that more?
@Atthebench
@Atthebench 6 жыл бұрын
Shaping Silver Just measure to the next grove smaller and then gently tap the soldered larger

It may be my lack of routine, but I am always concerned when "tapping" involves something symmetric and decorative. :-)

I have heard that UK and USA pronunciation is different with some words; is it oxidation or oxidization; Aluminium or Aluminum; so tuff (or is it tough? LOL) to figure out? Or maybe both? Wondreful video, haven't seen this before. Thanks so much andrew!

I had fun comparing words while visiting my UK friends. Some words are spelled the same but pronounced differently. There's lots of entertaining videos on the subject. They say celo tape (celo rhymes with Jello) where we Americans say Scotch tape even if it isn't Scotch brand. LOL! In the UK, aluminium is correct and in the US aluminum is correct. Both are talking about the exact same metal but both are spelled AND pronounced differently. One word that was very difficult for my ears to get used to was the word "garage" because over there it's pronounced like carriage but with a "g". Have fun with that! Cheers! 😊

Hi Andrew, I tried to order this system from your website and the form for billing information has the billing country set to the UK, with no way of changing it. The ship to address allowed choosing the USA. However, when trying to pay with PayPal, your form stopped the transaction demanding a correct postcode for my billing address in the UK. So, I couldn’t purchase this system. Please advise.
