I go out in the field to collect fossils and the ones made of shale that want to fall apart we use that baking soda and glue trick to keep them together. First time I seen it used for jewelry.

Flat aluminium wire is so cheap and plentiful. I'm currently wearing an opal ring I made out of aluminum wire, resin and opal chips. It's all held together with the resin.

Great tips - will try this for broken china jewelry. Idea: How about making the loop at top out of the flat wire so it's all one piece? Might not work for resign due to seepage.

This is so neat! I actually bought a Thing-a-Ma Jig last year so I could make cool shaped wire bezels but never did. The wire I had was to thin, going to order the wire you used and dust off the jig.

So now we can create bezels!!!! This week I received catalogs from Fire Mountain Gems. I was perusing the bezels, I marked my favorite but didn't order anything due to the prices. Now that I have viewed this video I need to invest in 18gauge flat wire - the possibilities are now endless. As always, thank you!!

I never thought of using a cookie cutter to wrap the wire around like that. Wow. That is so neat! I'm going to have to do that. I have so many cute little cookie cutters. I was thinking of using them with the resin like you did in one of your videos. I like the idea of bending wire around them. That's neat. It's so thin, hardly uses any resin. Thanks for the video. It has given me some ideas.

I think the superglue trick works because of the pH difference, if I remember correctly. I learnt this trick in one of Adam Savage's videos, he talked about how he uses it in model making.

If you want to be REALLY cost effective... I cut old soda cans (cleaned of course) into however thick of strips I need and bend them however I want for bezels. I usually just make sure the silver is facing out and the colorful soda label is facing inward, because 99% of the time I’m doing opaque designs, so it won’t be visible thru the resin. But there are ways to remove the color and have an entirely silver soda can- it’s just a bit of a pain (unless I’m doing a LOT of them, for multiple projects). ☺️💕👍

Be sure to use 18 gauge wire, saw cut them for precision joining, or buy "saw cut" rings. They will look better closed, fit snugly and in 18 gauge, be strong enough to not just come open. Also there are tutes on snipping wire with snippers that give a flat edge both sides.

The best thing to get adhesive off with not much effort is baby oil. I find Alcohol I have to rub too hard but working as a CNA for 20 Years, Baby Oil it's the best to get rid of tape residue and does wonders for your skin.

Hi Steve so I finaly made bezels and the pre-made ones worked perfectly except for one were the tape marks made 2 lines but I like it. I am using resin tape. However the ones I made by hand all have leaked, u was wondering if perhaps using hot glue around it might help? Tho it's not really flexible, not sure if you have tried this please let me know I really would like to perfect this project I made so many bezels

Really pretty! I've been looking for narrower armature wire, so glad you found it! If you want them to be thinner or higher-end, you can use square copper or silver wire. Much better than round wire to avoid leaks. Also, run a rolling pin over them if they aren't really flat.
