I'm glad I stumbled upon your page. There is another guy trying to say at the high pressure fuel pressure sensor is connected to the fuel pressure itself. Following your video I noticed that that is a separate sensor. The high pressure is all the way in the middle as you point out every single sensor while taking it off. There's so much misinformation out there. I guess you just have to know how to pick out the good from bs. L and if you are not at least that good to know who's talking BS and who knows what they're talking about then you should not be underneath the hood.

+Edgemotors, Good video, done the way most DIYers will do it. Like myself in a couple weeks on my own 2006 A6. If I may offer a suggestion on screws in plastic, or anything not machine threaded. - Turn the screw backwards before you start it. You'll feel when you get back into the old thread groove, and use that. It will make the threads stay much stronger for much longer than just cutting new threads every time. Thanks for the help!

I did a similar job on my BMW 335i. I used a media blaster and ground walnut shell to blast the carbon gunk off. It made the surfaces bright and clean in very little time and was gentle on the metal.

Thanks for the video. Did this over last couple evenings. I wish someone had a walnut blaster adapter for this engine. It's messy and difficult to get all the brass bristles out. But the engine started back up, so that's a plus. Thanks again.

did you also have to take off the lower intake runners to replace your thermostat or just the manifold? I know the video says that once you take off the manifold the thermostat is accessible but it looks like its a bit of a pain to get the thermostat out of there when the lower runners are still on.. Any input from anyone would be appreciated.

I soda blast the crap out of those ports bossman. I bought the media blaster from Harbor Freight (less than 100.00) and I do all runners in about 10 minutes. I use walnut shells, and have a shop vac running to absorb the contents. Leftovers I used compressed air and blowout the engine bay. You should look into it. Cut your labor times. We work on the same type of vehicles.

Hi bro Greg from Australia can I get some advice pls? you've helped me sort with my old 1.8t a4 .I trust you above most others. Now Ive got a 2006 3.2 b7 choking on oil (as they do) .. I will try clean the carbon out one day but meanwhile I'm about to install a oil catch can. Thought it'd be easy.. but after watching some vids I'm now totally confused as to how to route the piping. I had a mad idea of running a oil catch can on either side of the motor.. out of the top (next to the oil cap filler) into the can, and back out into that same pipe that was connected (next to the oil cap) Then figured Id repeat all that on the other side/bank of the motor (but another dude was talking about the left bank being the clean air intake and right bank being the dirty side etc ...and had a much more complicated system going on..totally lost me) what am I missing here ?? wish you were in Oz man! happy to fling some coin if you can sort me out cheers Greg

Great video! One question, Why, when replacing the t-stat involves that much work, would you not replace that short hose also? Couldn't be a $10 OEM part even at the OEM ripoff price. I know I would have just for cheap insurance and peace of mind. You do good work. Is the carbon buildup design flaw of DI engines a fatal one for all these new style engines? You can pay for a LOT of extra fuel for what the cleanup costs are every 60,000 miles or so. Thanks

I have the same engine and I have a question. I do have a lot of oil on the top of the engine and It falls on the belts. The oil seems to come from the freeze plug on the top 'cause the two holes are always full of oil or from the oil filter housing gasket. I replaced both and it's still leaking a lot. I have no idea when to look. This is really strange.

Hey just did this on my 2.0FSI, after watching your TSI video. A little tip to bump start the motor without the injectors flying out, is to remove the spark plugs so there is not pressure in the cylinder. Stuff the fuel lines into an empty bottle so you don't have fuel everywhere... Also, for those who dont have a "fluid evac pump" i just dried up the cleaning solution with shop towels, and used compressed air to blow out all the rest of the shit so no little bits of wire brush or whatever fall back into the cylinders. UNBELIEVABLE how much shit was in my intake... Thanks again for your videos man, you really help us out.
