Thanks for the video, worked a treat. On mine my banjo fittings were already stripped so I left the banjos in and undid the clip to the 2 metal hoses to the left of the the fuel pump, and I had enough room to lift it out no problems. My one with 138k km on the motor looked only a little worn, almost new.

I put together a kit to do the same job on my 2005 BLF (1.6 FSI) I thought that I would replace the bolts as well. Here are the part numbers I found: BAG engine code: 03C109309C - tappet / cam follower 03C127311 / WHT005184 - Oring N90476201 - pump bolt (4 needed) Some updates turns out my engine code is completely different: :D BLP, BLF engine code: 03C109309E - tappet / cam follower 06E127248- Oring - not manufactured anymore, maybe find some compatible aftermarket parts N10247505 - pump bolt (3 needed) I could only find the torque spec for 2.0 FSI fuel pump bolts which are slightly different. That was 10Nm

Hi, We have We see the yellow oil lamp and the sensor sign in our audi a3 2005 year 1.6 automatic car , we changed the oil, the oil cooler has been changed, but this light still remains on. What could be the main reason for the problem? Can you help?

How do i know The cam follower is broken ? It makes a sound?
@dibley19734 жыл бұрын
For my step son's car his symptoms were: Very reduced power at medium to high revs. We assumed this was because the fuel pump was not delivering enough pressure due to insufficient stroke caused by the worn follower. Replacing the follower cured his issue. I don't recall it being overly "tappetty".

I ordered the same part. Price was +60e and then 10e for the o-ring. So about 70e in total. My 1.6FSI has run 340k km already so its about time to change the cam follower.

Thanks, great video. I've got the same issue. How long do you think this will last without changing the cam? Is the car still working today?
@dibley19736 жыл бұрын
Yes the car is still running OK, used nearly everyday since for short journeys. The worse kind of journeys! My step son suspects it may not be as good as when we first did it but still way, way better than when it wore right through. We really must check it soon, but I am sure it's already scored and slowly filling the sump with swarf.
@oconnor41326 жыл бұрын
Good to know it's still working. I'll do the same on mine and hopefully it'll last a year or two. There's no way I'm changing the camshaft, it's just not worth it. I don't mind too much if I have to change the follower during regular service. With a bit of luck the camshaft lobe will smooth out over time haha

Did you ever change the cam? Got a similar problem except that the cam is much more worn. Might still just replace the cam follower and see if I get away with it. How hard is the cam swap to do?
@dibley19735 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately we never got to do the cam, as the car got written off from a rear ender. You could limp it on with a new follower on old cam, but be aware you will be introducing more "swarf" into the oil system. We had some big bits of the follower in the sump and on the oil pick up. Not good for engine longevity!
@peterwarner95725 жыл бұрын
@@dibley1973 yeah, trouble is it's not worth the expense of swapping the cam, so I'll check the follower every 5k miles and replace as needed until I don't have the car anymore I think. Was the sump easy to take out? Might do that and give it a clean, but only if I don't need to remove loads of other things underneath
@dibley19735 жыл бұрын
@@peterwarner9572 - getting the sump off was fine. Needs exhaust front section removing, and nothing else to major. Worst not was there are two Allen screws right up in recesses near the flywheel end of the block. Even with grease on the ends of long ball end Allen keys there were proper "cnuts" to replace. We lost them in behind the flywheel a couple of times. Luckily my son has a lot of patience. I'd run out of it!
