Very helpful video. I especially appreciate that got the camera in there up close so viewers can actually see what you were doing. Many videos like this are obstructed by the Mechanic's hands in the way in tight spaces which is why pausing to show the details with the hands out of view is how videos should be done. You deserve the thumbs up and subscribe

It’s good to see that it’s not only me that has to deal with the rust on older cars. Those spline bolts can be very difficult to remove that centre hub one I’ve nearly lifted the car off the ramp many a time. Great video 👍

Haha these rust issues can be the bane of our lives at times!! Just spent an hour removing a seized caliper slider today! 😅ha .. thanks for the comment Kev 👍

Clear and concise, great tutorial. I was wondering how I'd figure out which sensor was acting the maggot - live data and a turn of the wheel with an eye on the obd.. Cheers!

Best video I've seen to date as far as any car repair. Filmed perfectly, great lighting and great attention to deal. If only all repair videos were of this quality. Many thanks mate. Really helped me out

Just did this on my 09 Rabbit 2.5L with 240K km (150k miles). It's a Quebec car and while it's not the rustiest example, it still took me nearly 30 min of prying with a screwdriver very slowly to get off. Honestly not that bad of a job, just super scary. I had to do it super gently in order to not snap it off. I had TC, ABS, e-brake and steering light on, and it would be stuck in limp mode, but after replacing both, it fixed the issue. Also, due to the previous owner not replacing the hub, the old sensor was literally shaved off from the rusted magnetic ring, so yeah.

Excellent video. I’m about to try this, but I don’t have a ramp. Would removing and reinstalling the calliper be practical with the car jacked up and on a stand?
@diydaly5 ай бұрын
Yes easily done without a ramp 👍

Great vid thanks, what your view on eBay bearing at £30 v euro car parts at £70 also the same with the abs sensors less that £10 vs £30. Is it just euros overpricing for non trade?
@diydaly2 жыл бұрын
👍 Thanks.. hard to say really depends what brands your looking at really.. there are some really cheap non branded parts on Ebay, obviously the Euro do sell some "white box" non branded parts but they also offer some decent bits.. there prices are normal reasonable

Buy direct from SKF Aftermarket. Just paid less than £50 for basically OEM bearing.

Had some good fun with those bolts over the years,had to cut one hub off once, then weld a large nut on the end of the bolt to get it out, the back side of the bolt is open to the elements so can rust bad : (

Haha had similar issues myself! 👍👌

I’ve been living since almost 22 years close to the beach as 4 seasons also included but all my cars don’t rush like this or whatever somewhere in British I saw many of them especially, I just wonder, my 20 years old audi, 17 years old R53 and my little S1 they are still good without heavy rusty! God safe mine !

Hi. What year audi a3 is that? And what spline bit socket did you use? Thanks

Why didn't you replace only the ABS magnetic ring? It is available as a separate part.

Thanks for the comment Ian!👍😁. I know! Unfortunately it’s an issue we have to deal with on a daily basis! 🙈😩

You don't need to remove the carrier hanger.. the disc slips off once the pads are out.. only need a 13 Spanner to whip off the caliper bolts.. easier 😆

If you heat that bolt with a heat gun it releases the loctite, then a long solid breaker bar should do the trick, if the bar is bending buy one that doesn't as the bending just loses torque. Not everyone's got a 3/4" rattler!

Thanks for the comment
@dandyer8351 Жыл бұрын
3/4 bar is all thats needed ideally one that doesnt bend.
