Repairing a typical ABS Sensor fault on several Volkswagen, Audi and Seat models

I live in Brazil, and New VW Polos are having this problem, but the services centers cannot fix it. They just changed the abs/speed sensor of the rear wheels, and I'll show them this video. Thank you very much.

Excellent video, great shots of all the important parts. Just did rear passenger and rear driver abs/wheel speed sensors. Seems like the problems are cleared up, but now I see how to change out the ring (and take the wheel hub off!). Thanks for your efforts.

I have abs sensor error codes on the two rear wheels. The mechanic removed the discs checked the bearings and checked the abs sensor rings and all is ok. If not the sensors and not the rings on those two rear wheels - what else can it be? I have an abs noise coming from the front right when I brake hard.

Does this kit work for a base 2011 vw mk6 golf? I can find the kit for 2009 and 2010 but all the parts dealers say it doesn't fit a 2011 golf

In the video, after installing the ring, the ring magnetics are checked with presumably iron filings in a card thats not provided in the meyle kit. What is being checked here and are the left and right side rings different? If they are different, can this be checked in another way to verify the correct ring have been included in the kit? FWIW, I have both left and right side kits installed, but the left side kit does not solve the error code, that is the sensor (which reads 4.5MOhm) is not picking up the ring "tone" ie not showing speed on my VCDS.

This card is used to check the segments of the ABS magnetic rings and the condition, number of segments and damage. If the segments are uneven, the ABS magnetic ring is damaged and must be replaced. The ABS magnetic rings are not different on the vehicles from left to right. Unfortunately, we cannot evaluate this from a distance with regard to the error code. This must be determined directly on the vehicle.

Jesus! That was a massive torque wrench. So I have no chance of doing this this repair myself if a wrench that large is required. But, great video anyway👍

I’m experiencing some hesitation on my 05 Passat wagon. Almost like a backfire. Is this a symptom of bad wheels sensors, maybe setting off the abs? Traction control light is also on.

As you describe the situation, your vehicle could really have a problem with the ESP sensor system. However, we cannot reliably assess this from a distance. Therefore, you should visit a specialist workshop to check and analyze everything else.

Is it possible to put a right ABS sensor into a left wheel as i noticed the notched line is horizontal when in correctly and if put on in the other side the notched line is vertical that’s rubbing opposite sides to the wheel bearing?

The professional installation of the ABS sensors is always a basic requirement for their subsequent perfect function. The sensors should only fit on one side and it is always essential to follow the installation instructions of the original manufacturer. Incorrect assembly will involuntarily lead to signal errors and thus to a malfunction of the ABS system.

This kit is nowhere to be found in North America. Customer Service is not responsive. Ended up buying a new hub with bearings and an ABS sensor from Rockauto for $62 + $15. Got my stuff delivered in one day w/o extra charge

I see you still replaced the sensor. How do you know which one was the problem? The ring or the sensor? I am all for replacing as much parts as possible while things are apart, specially with a lot of miles on the car. For example I would replace the bearing at the same time and breaks if need to be. The corrosion on the sensor-ring and the increased diameter causes a damage on the sensor. This is the reason why both items should be replaced The kit is designed to save some money. When replacing the sensor ring, the brake rotors, brake pads and wheel hub need to be unmounted. But in case that the brake rotors and pads have just been replaced and the wheel bearing is technically in a good condition, you can save some money and only replace the parts that are defective

I have a 2014 vw beetle that I started out with a EPC light on and the typical problems when on loses power, burns a lot of gas. Code P0221, throttle pedal position sensor/switch B circuit. I changed the throttle pedal with sensor and the mass air flow unit with sensor under the throttle body and the throttle body, cleaned and used electrical grease on all the sensors. Changed spark plugs, coils and engine air filter. Not getting the EPC light as much, but I'm getting a new code P0491 Secondary Air Injection System Insufficient Flow Bank 1 with a check engine light. I changed the Sensor and the secondary air flow check valve. Now sometimes I just get the check engine light or just the EPC light or both. They don't come on as much though. What could it be? Anybody have any other ideas on what I can change to fixed this problem?

Hi, Dear sir , after OBD check, I found flowing error code my Vw Golf 5 2008 1.4 petrol engine 80ps Error code : 17069 Error code : 538 Error code: 819 Error code : 1316 , 1314 Error code : 1321 , 1259 , 2071 , 1516 , 2403 , 1520 My Volkswagen Golf 5 2008 1.4 petrol engine Battery has been charge a few days ago . Yes have issues rear passenger door can not be open from inside the car . catalytic converter was clogged and has been charge 3 days ago . Their is no sign in the dashboard at the moment. But still error code has been found . So should I ease the code or repair those problems. Please help me . And thanks for your reply. Have a nice christmas you and your family.
