Audi A4/S4/A5/S5/RS5 Ambient Lighting Retrofit

Video shows how to install the ambient lighting kit from aliexpress and tips to help the install. At the end of the video I explain some of my concerns and help for some tips with software. I am getting codes and I cant unlock my doors and some other stuff I would love to get resolved.

Hi! Where did you put the connection in the fuse box? Minute 3:10. Did you swap it eoth other car fuse or just put in a empty space in the fuse box?

I’m looking to get an s4 P+ because the prestige is too expensive. I know they include the white color ambient. Once I code/reset the mmi, will all the colors appear on the screen to change with the dial. I’d hate to have to use a remote to change colors

Hey AP, many thanks for that video - it helped me a lot! But I have some consternation regarding connecting to the fuse box, when I've connected to the same fuse as you I got an error code in Gateway that's saying "U140600 Static current - too high". What I think this means the Aliexpress module steals electricity when the car is completely off. Does somebody have the same error code or know what I am supposed to do? :)

First of all, thank you for making this video, it's a shame there are almost no videos out there showing these aliexpress kit installs on Audi models, which is a shame. Regarding your problem that the electronics of the door stopped working, is because you made a mistake during 14:58. You were explaining it right that the white connector pops out of the door and is then supposed to go into the female connector of the kit and instead plug the kit male connector into the door instead, but u missed one step there. The original white connector that you plug out of the door, is essentially a two part connector, as you can see the right has 2 thicker cables, 12V and ground and the left side has a bunch of smaller cables (these are the cables for all electronic in the door) this smaller part with the bunch of cables can be popped out. Its kinda hart explaining it with words lol, but essentially you are supposed to do these steps: 1. Take out Original White connector from door 2. Split this white connector by popping out the connector with you electronic cables 3. The popped out connector goes into the Male connector of the aliexpress kit 4. Male connector of alieexpress kit goes into door 5. The original Male connector of the door goes into female connector of the alieexpress kit ( so essentially only 12v and ground cable are going into the female connector) Hope this helps, and if you need a more detailed way of describing, just tell me, I can try to help out by making some screenshots and circles/arrows what i mean lol

Thank you, someone in a forum helped me with this and you are 100% correct. I learned a week after installing so i never made it into the video. Also you are welcome for the video I found it super frustrating that no one made a video and it definitely doesn't make us wanna tackle it on our own.

I am about to do the same to my audi a3 2018 model this upcoming weekend, I received the Kit on Saturday and I am really excited to try it out but also somewhat scared that I do something wrong because of the limited videos/material that you find on the internet haha. I actually have a question, when you connected the main box to your fuse box, did you connect it to ACC or to Constant Battery + ? The Aliexpress Installation manuals that I received all say something different, in some, it says ACC in others it says B+. From what I know, ACC would mean that the lights only turn on when the car is on, while on B+ the lights would be on as soon as you unlock the car? The second approach would actually be cooler but I am scared that it might be bad for the battery :D

It is indeed scary, one thing i reccomend is getting some of that speaker cushioning stuff that makes your car quieter. I do have rattling now because a poor job but im not to worried because I bought the light for the dash now so ill fix it all then. So i connected the lights to whatever they would fit to. So i plugeed it in to the fuse box on the dash which is to the left of the steering wheel. My issue for my a4 atleast was the power fuse didnt fit in the fuse box because of another fuse if that makes sense. So my ligihts only turn on when the car turns on, the way to make it work would be to do it at the fusebox on the deadpedal but idk how you are able to hide the wire plus you would have to find where to put the ground wire.

Respect bro this video is amazing but im just wondering if you could change the lights through the mmi system. Ive got a 19 s5 which naturally comes with the white leds which i can dim but i say i change the whites to leds how would i get the color wheel menu on there. Thanks

yes u can change the lighting thru the mmi, so there is this box that u get with an obd port and u code the system which is fairly easy, then u get the wheel in ur mmi. I have a video i’ll post tonight if i’m not to busy to show u about the wheel

Hi to anyone on this video who can help. I have finished installation but have one issue. The cable that comes with the connector to the fuse box and the ground wire clip isn’t working properly. This connector powers cup holders, saddle and footwell lights. It will come on for the first try and then will drop to flickering on and off slowly. I have tried multiple different fuse port and it’s the same. In this video you speak of adding something the the back of the MMI but mine doesn’t have any such connector. Any help is greatly appreciated

It looks like you might have the premium model or the premium plus without the technology package, is that correct? If so you can still put the lights in because they give u the plastic pieces to do so!

Looking to install on my Audi a6 c7. How would you rate the quality of the product? Does it rattle or cause any issue since you installed it? How dim does it get I want it to be very subtle in the car not in your face?

0 issue with rattling, all the rattling is lowkey on how YOU install it, i just used electrical tape to put it on the body so nothing hits over bumps, and u can dim it down very low but tbh it’s not that bright. like audi has the dimmest ambient lighting in my opinion, not like a benz at all

@EvanConlon_ you can’t do it to my knowledge because the fuse u connect it too has to power on when u unlock the car. so unless u can connect it to something like the door sill lights, door handle lights, or something

I wont be able to make a video because the system is put into my dash right now. Basically there is a box that you can attach and obd adapter to which is included and then you basically just listen to the directions. It tells you to connect it with the pins in a certain position, like 12 up 34 down and then after it flashes very rapidly you just restart the mmi which you hold thw two toggles and the scroll wheel for a few seconds and boom.

the module on the driver's door has 2 pins, which are connected in a socket, but I don't understand where, in most people I have seen that these pins are connected somewhere under the steering wheel, but the wires do not reach there

Update: I managed to fix the issue, one of the wires had the blue and green in the wrong socket of the plug and it worked after switching.
