Hi thank you so much, explained very well how to take the thing off. I think it would be easier to dismount the whole assembly (valve+cooler) instead of separating the two. But I did it anyway because I wasn't certain this would be my issue. Sadly, one of the screws going into the exhaust manifold broke, so be careful to, maybe let your engine heat up a little beforehand? Or maybe put some WD-40 on those two screws. Last thing you didn't mention is the mileage, mine had 180k kms and looked as dirty as yours, I also had the error code (low egr pressure) so if anyone has the error code and that much kms, it's almost certain that this part is the issue

Again, great video. I need to replace my Egr on our 2012 a4 avant as the garage quoted £700. Please tell me, what tool is needed to remove the pipes you pointed to at 10:52 with the large star like heads. Thanks again for your video.

Clarke CHT144 40-Pce TORX HEX Star Socket Spline & Bit Holder Set And i’ve use the bit with a ratchet spanner to save space and I managed to get them loose. Make sure you use a bit of cloth to loch the bit in the ratchet spanner so you don’t lose it and it will work as a charm. There is not much room. Next video will be about how to change you hex drive key of the oil pump because it will round it off and won’t drive oil pump and you will have engine failure. Thanks for watching, please subscribe.

@@jackhodge-xh5hr all unit comes off together (EGR valve and EGR cooler) . Not the actual cooler of the car that can stay on car.

I am doing my EGR right now and thanks to your help I have it off. Access is real tight ay. Just a quick one, when fitting the new valve and cooler do you fit it dry straight out of the box or do you need to fill the cooler with coolant first? Thanks again!!

Use Mr Muscle to clean it (oven cleaner) it melts that carbon off like butter 🤙

Nice video. Did you lose much coolant when removing the pipes? Did the system need coolant topping up and bleeding for air, once everything was back together?

Hi thanks for watching it. The valve unit i guess it holds around half a liter of coolant or less and it will leek a bit when removing. What i did I kept all the blanks of new fuel filters and used them to blank pipes and had no leaks while waiting for the part to arrive. Topped up just a bit and then run engine till it got to 90 and then check level again. If you do it yourself home make sure you get it somewhere to calibrate the EGR valve on the car otherwise it will get blocked again quickly and say every 50k miles take it of and clean it . Keeps engine and dpf happy

@@timgoldsmith9126 i have struggled with an Allan key torx head tool. It was a pain because i had a long one only at that time. I have bought that t30 while i was waiting for the part to arrive. Go ahead and buy yourself one because it needs taking off the EGR valve from time to time and clean it so you gonna need it . Like share and subscribe. God speed.

@@lucasborka3714 i don’t really know with vcds, i have a icarsoft pro and Obd eleven and just clicked the calibration button and heard a clicking noise from valve and that was it .

@@ciprianandronescu3339 Hai fatto bene! Tentare di pulire i passaggi nello scambiatore è molto rischioso . Sono molto sottili e di solito leggermente intaccati dalla corrosione galvanica . Da ex meccanico posso tranquillamente affermare che in questi casi L’ unica soluzione è cambiare tutto. Poi invece se uno vuole rischiare, affari suoi.

If you buy new one it will come with the part . Two steel gaskets of the exhaust pipe. If you just clean it no need to replace

Grazie al tuo video ho scoperto che nella mia b8 cjc del 2014 è bloccato il comando farfalla egr in posizione di zero. Per ora non si accende nessuna spia. Non sono riuscito a capire la funzione di quella farfalla . Riesci a fare un video con la vecchia egr? Grazie👍🏻

P0401 e de la EGR doar. Trebuie curatat sau schimbat.

@@silviugligor2395 salutare, nu am cod , racitorul am desfacut doar sa arat cauza codului de eroare si in general problema cu EGR , am inlocuit piesa cu o unitate noua OEM Valeo. Recomand piesele originale.

Din câte vad apare calamina și în unitatea cu partea electrica a egr ului...nu cred ca problema e doar ca se infunda racitorul...ci tot sistemul. Mersi de sfaturi. Eu o sa încerc sa curat tot în prima faza.

Top up coolant in the expansion tank and run engine in idle for few minutes. Then take it for a drive and top up again if need it. No special procedure
