The Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 S and Audi RS Q8 are, let's face it, whales. But they both have engines that could change the rotation of the earth so, which is faster over the good ol' quarter mile? The GLE 63 S or Q8. Alex Inwood will have to risk all of our lives to find out.

Interesting! Any advice or intel on how to activate it? Merc Australia confirmed our cars don’t have Race Start (so no launch control) but if you have more intel I’m keen to hear it!

I’m not 100% sure but to a active launch control in the GLE you have to put in either 1:sport 2:sport+ or 3:race, foot on the break and then pull both paddle shifts forward and hold for a couple of seconds and it will let you know that launch control has been activated.

The new GLE unfortunately has no Launch Control. The pull both pedal method only works on the "older" amg models.

Hmmm others have gotten 3.6-3.8 out of the GLE. All on KZbin for ya. So there are settings that get them there despite having not launch control.

AMG launch control is activated by first turning off traction control, then allowing car temps to turn white in display, then activating sport + or race. Only then will you unlock full HP for launch control. Most of these videos dont know how. Car n Driver clocked the GLE AMG 63s at 3.4 seconds…

When you do a power brake launch in the AMG you can’t hold the brake whilst getting on the gas for more than a second otherwise the launch will be weaker.

AMG's are usually better at racing from a roll aka on the highway. BMWs usually prioritize performance over luxury (as one can clearly tell when stepping inside the interior of an M car vs a competitive AMG car). I've heard AMGs are the most "fun" to drive, BMWs will win the races and Audis have their launch from a dig. If I'm buying a singular car, a daily that I also want for fun, it'll probably be an AMG. However if I'm looking for a fun weekend toy it's hard to say no to an M car.
