Kévin Leroy the S8 gearbox shifts very very slow (I got the same in my S6 with the same engine btw. It’s faster from 100-200 than the Diesel but 0-100 it’s very slow)

I did own a 2003 Audi S6 and it had a similar engine as the S8, I can tell you what was the weak point: the 5 speed automatic gearbox, it was very slow at shifting gears, that diesel A8 has an 8speed unit that shifts much quicker too

Pointless comparisons with amateur starts (!) Are a specialty of this channel, so the video is no exception. The comparison of the technical data of all three vehicles alone would have shown that the "old" S8 logically has to be the slowest. A lightweight Haldex S3 with 300Ps+ & Launch, plus a torque monster as A8 diesel with over 600Nm. The 4.2er because with its sluggish 5HP24 automatic not quite keep up is completely normal. But one thing shows this "comparison" yet. The D2 may be a few tenths slower .... it is nevertheless a fast, absolutely timeless, elegant vehicle with unrivaled quality today. Add to that the real uncut riding feel, the divine sound of the freely sucking V8 and the traction of the Torsen Quattro ... all this makes him one of the best youngsters of all time.

So the top-of-the-line D2 is a tad slower than the entry level D5. Amazing how fast these cars have actually gotten. Great 'random' video as always -- massive respect to carwow for doing these. You guys should also consider doing drag races of the same model, but with different generations (i.e S8 D2 vs D3 vs D4 etc.) and also; if you could time each cars 0-100km/h (62mph) to see - with an older car - how age has effected the claimed acceleration + how much - with newer cars - they lie with the acceleration. Special shout out to Mat (NOT "Matt" ;) ) -- have been watching since the days with the honking intro (if you know - you know) and I have to say -- there isn't - and probably will not be - a presenter that will beat his performance. What a legend!
