Pre MOT Test Checks On My Audi TT MK1 - At The Moment ... It's A Fail
Summer 2023 saw me buy a MK1 Audi TT Coupe. I had always liked them AND I also owned a Mk1 TT Roadster.
Sadly the seller of this car was not an honest man. Whilst it looked great on the outside (apart from a few naff mods) mechanically it had been neglected.
In this video Dad and I get the car up and running and give it a Pre MOT Test once over. New battery, new fuel, brakes checked and some niggly problems fixed.

Had four new tyres put on the wife’s car at Halfords and they only did the locking wheel nuts up finger tight! They also failed to pump the tyres up to specified pressure! Always worth checking these things!

went to Pets at Home earlier - carpark there featured a 1958 River 90 beige over coffee with a brown leather interior. Spoke to the owner on his return its a 2600cc straight 6 TC and he said its lovely to drive - thats interesting carpark viewing

As you already know I own the same Audi TT like yours. In fact it is a small car but the interior for the front passengers is spacious like most German cars. The back seats are not usable but can be fold down resulting in a decent storage place. I even could get a racing bike inside when removing the front wheel. It really is fun to drive like even your dad had to admit. And performance is not bad at all for a car that I bought new in 2000(0-100 km/u in 6,4 seconds). The instrument cluster is the only weak point but several companies are available for repair instead of having to install a new one in case of failure. Mechanically I didn't met major problems. After 195.000 km still the same exhaust, turbo and clutch.

Jon. For me the MK1 Audi TT is still a car that is beautiful outside and inside. I believe it will become a collectors car and will be reflected in the price...I just wish I had a garage so I can keep one there... Good luck in turning it around..fab colour too ✌🤜🏽

Hi Jon and Pete a great video as ever and I love that TT have always admired the mk1 out of all of them it was unique when it came out and it’s aged well I think Pete enjoyed that test drive and let’s see more burn ups on the Lincs back roads 😂😂😂 I am sure you will get to the bottom of the issues and it will be a pass and it will be better than new in the end Jon you should take us round the roadster would be good to see it as well All the best to you both Daniel

I have done a fair bit of work on these Audi TT roadsters. Power steering pumps steering racks suspension and many other thing's 😂Door micro switchs alternator. I had a freind who used to own one. The 225 BAM is a bit of Animal i do like them but have the same problem as your Dad i bang my head every time I get into them. I will give you a laugh my A4 b6 was rattling for ages on left hand side i put a new shock on a new strut top mount new spring noise was still there.I was scratching my head. Anyway I was due tyres so i took the tyre of i thought I'd just check my pads. I could wobble the pad back and fore in the carrier it was causing my noise😂😂. I fitted a second hand one boom noise was gone. Unfortunately I think I have the same problem on the right hand side now. My mot is due in July so I will probably look at getting another one. The seat belts in my one i spray silicon spray on them every year. Am putting new shocks on the rear of my avant sport as there a bit knackered 186tho in now so she probably due it.

The new TTs are a lot faster , the TTRS does 0-60 in 4 seconds crazy fast speed for a TT

If you want a nightmare then try and work on a 3.2 V6 TT! That is a task that nearly ended me!

@@JonCoupland Sadly so , its a lovely car to drive when its working has all the mod cons sunroof AC Electric windows built in sat nav etc but the mechanical components are not good , Im looking to buy an old Hyundai Amica a friend of mine at work has a 2007 version and they are basically an i10 with a different name and have electric windows and AC too , dirt cheap to buy seen many for under £1500
