@jamie498687 жыл бұрын
For me, it's the Jag. If I'm dropping 60-70k, I want to feel special and not just like another one on the road. I see Porsches almost everyday, and lots of TT's (though not the RS), but I have only seen a handful of F-Types on the road. I think it looks the best, sounds the best, and is the rarest on the road. As for as performance, it may be just a tick below, but who among us are really ever going to be at max, or even approaching it? I don't think you can go wrong with any of them, but the Jag just has that little "something extra" appeal to me. Peace!

HarrierJint drove both and went for the 718. Car just felt better and faster than the 981. Was sure I would buy the low mileage used 981 after reading hours and hours of reviews by KZbin knuckleheads who knocked the turbo 4 sound. I drove the flat 6 first and loved it, than drove the flat 4 just so I could say I drove it. But, once I did I realized it’s got a great feel to it. The sound in person is way different than what you hear in videos. Anyone comparing it to a Suburu has truly not driven the 718. By no means does it sound better than the flat 6, it is very different. I find the so called "purists" who rave about the flat 6 noise kinda funny. I think many are mad that a turbo 4 banger is faster than their 6’s so they knock the sound. I wonder how many of these so called purists are driving PDK transmissions which a true purist would never do. I’m sure if I bought the flat 6 I would be perfectly happy with it....but I wouldn’t waste time knocking the turbo 4 as it truly is an amazing car that is a joy to drive.

Its only really a battle between two cars, TT RS vs Cayman S. Jag is just too slow and heavy. Out of the two, Porsche has the brand and style. TT RS, the power and theatre. Both are near identical in price point. Ultimately, for all the Porsche's capability, there is no getting passed that engine sound. Few buyers will drop £60K for that racket. Which compounds the injury as it was self inflicted. TT RS for the win, all day , everyday.

I really do like this guy, I'd have a real hard choice between the power of the TTRS and the 'soul and passion' of the F Type but the issue with the Cayman is with this entry side to the sports car market many of the buyers will be upgrading their hot hatches and I'm sure they'd want a screaming engine to let them know spending over £60k was worth it.
@d07188 жыл бұрын
S Miller I'm exactly that person! Upgrading from a Mk7 GTI to a base Cayman (a big jump yes). I've driven both 718 Boxster and Cayman in both S/non-S variations and compared them against an M2 (TTRS wasn't available yet and I wasn't considering an F-type since its a bit more expensive). And to be honest, the engine in the 718 is not THAT bad. Firstly, it's the highest revving engine (7500rpm redline) which adds a lot to the character. Secondly, it's right there behind you and you can kind of feel it with your back. Finally, power delivery is still great, it's easier to use than ever before in town (due to loads of torque at low revs) and it's very flexible and surprisingly responsive. So personally I'm totally happy with my upgrade. I think the people who will have an issue with this car are those who owned older flat-six Porsches or perhaps something with a V8.
@ScottZ3708 жыл бұрын
Dmitry L Yeah maybe you are right, I guess the 718 must be a car that you need to drive to get (which to be fair has been what most of the reviews have been saying)
@kkaratas8 жыл бұрын
+Dmitry L How do the base and S versions of the 718 compare against eachother?
@d07188 жыл бұрын
+Kaan Karatas Unless you have a stopwatch in your hand, almost no difference, to be honest! It takes a lot of commitment to feel the power difference on public road; the only way to really notice the difference is through launch control or when coming out of really tight bends. I've driven both back to back on Porsche Test Track at Silverstone and I barely felt any difference there as well. I was told S is more responsive, but I didn't have enough time/skill to feel that. I'd say if you're buying a Boxster, don't bother with S version. If you're buying the Cayman, only get S if you are going to take it to trackdays. Personally I went for a base 2.0 Cayman and spent the extra £9k on getting more options (and saved money on insurance too).
@kkaratas8 жыл бұрын
+Dmitry L Thanks for the feedback. I would probably prefer the base car as well, for similar reasons, and perhaps for being able to stretch it out more often on public roads. Had a 1st gen Cayman S when they first came out. Now even the base car is so powerful, especially with the new turbos, that it's probably more than enough for daily driving. Congratulations btw. What color did you go for?

@@jasonmorrow1981 I did prefer the 718 over the TT RS. One thing that I especially disliked about the latter was the very low profile 20” tires, which gave a noisy and rough ride. The dark side of the 718 is the high maintenance costs due to the mid-engine design. The two year maintenance that I had done cost $1521, $800 of it in labor. That was the last straw for me, so I bought a C7 Corvette, which is superior to both the Audi and the Porsche in many ways. If you have mote questions, please ask.

That is why the Jag is my choice. I see Porsches on the road almost every day, and they all kind of blur together in an unremarkable "just another Porsche" thing to me. Let's face it, I'm not going to be racing cars at stop lights, going to the track, or pushing things to the max on the highway, so it comes down to looks, sound, and rarity...all of which the Jag wins in my book. The Porsche 718 Cayman S is every bit as quick at the Audi TT RS. Car & Driver's recent instrumentation test of the Porsche resulted in a 3.6 second 0-60 mph (repeated with ease) and a 12-second flat quarter mile at 117 mph. @ZDY666668 жыл бұрын
its much better with crackles and very slightly louder with sport exhaust option(or after market) in real life. Its cos the pitch is hard to capture for most mics. Edit: it does not sound like an Subaru in case you are wondering. the pitch is obviously more closer to a flat 4 car (because..it literally is a flat 4), and would obviously 100% sound different than the flat 6 NA engines (like...no shit?), but those factors doesnt make it sound like a subaru... thats like saying all v8s sound the same, or all v6 sound the same, or any type of engine sounds like another one just because they use the same framework..

damefaso lol what? STI and this engine doesnt even have the same patterns/ rhythms OR crackles, OR dynamics. It ONLY seems DRASTIC because the flat 6 sounds so insanely different. But u cant compare it with a subaru....its just too different, people only say this because they either have no clue what the concept of sound even means, or because they just want to hate on the downsized engine (which i dislike too, but ppl like to exaggerate too much).

What a great video, and a good choice of cars to compare. I'm a huge Jaguar fan, and own a Jaguar XF S. However, all three cars are fabulous, although Porsche really need to offer something new in respect of the basic shape as they're virtually the same from the 911 to the Boxster! Great engines though! I would also suggest that they need to offer improved interiors in terms of styling. The Audi looks stunning from the front viewpoint, but the seating position (as you stated) seems a little too high, taking away the sports feel of the car. However, the TT is an iconic car. It's the Jaguar all the way for me though - the styling, interior and the beautiful sound of that exhaust. No car sounds better - a worth successor to the legendary E-Type. Errol

Please invest in another camera so that you can switch between the driver and road view. Honestly you guys need to up your game given the many car youtubers around. As for the comparison I'd take the RS. I don't need the handling flexibility of a Cayman on the roads for sure and a 4 cylinder engine on such a 'sports car' is an absolute non-starter. The RS is going to be great all year round with 4 wheel drive too.

It is a vlog and so it is vlogstyle. Not everything must be a high value production. I like the somewhat off the cuff approach and the opinions are always interesting. That is what keeps me watching, not the video bling. But i realise, that this may not be a popular opinion.

man and I would think having a nose heavy fwd biased platform as a 'sports car' would be more of a non starter when desiring a sports car.

Weights also a big consideration, the cayman s has a curb weight around 3000 lbs, considerably lighter than the other 2, modifying one would bring a great power:weight ratio, definitely a great track weapon.

Audis are VWs with better parts. Porsches are far too common and the Cayman isn't a 911. The Jaguar would own the stage for looks and sound. Jag wins!

The Cayman S all day every day. The Jag is more of a special car and will turn more heads but the Porsche is just an amazing drivers car. The audi is just well an Audi.

I don't know what's with Porsche's press cars: they all have ugly specs. Yeah, the Miami blue looks amazing, but agains red calipers and those wheels? Really? There are so many great colour combinations for this car

So this is an odd one I know, but I quite like that jacket. Mind sharing what it is (bonus if it can be had with that PH logo patch sewn in!)

Who buys these TT RS? I live in Orange County calif where i honestly see more McLarens than I do a TT RS. I have only seen one, ever. Several 911s and Caymens on a daily basis. I think I know why. Since graduating from grad school I have purchased a 350z, E46 M3 and now a 911. I would never take a serious look at the RS. It looks, performs and handles "pretty good" but something is missing from it. It just doesn't seem that intriguing. Kind of like dating a girl that a 7/10 cute but has no personality and doesn't talk. If she is a 7/10 she better have everything else going for her or it's a no go

The TTRS is not available in the US yet. The TTS, however, was released just last year. That's why they are so rare in the US right now, meanwhile in Europe they are more common.

hawkinsrod I love Porsches and work on them daily, but the TTRS has its own character, and is rare. I bet they won't build many. It's nice having a car that you don't see often. I'm actually looking to get a new RS3 when they come out in the fall. I have a Golf R now. In the future I will get a 911. Best built car ever!

The engine is the primary reason. The engine and that sound :)

I agree. Audi . . . not including the R8 . . . and no matter how you look at it is well, an Audi. Porsche is well . . . as the old saying goes . . . there is no substitute.

The chrome around the windows on the Jag looks awful. Who the hell specs a car like that?
@Cynchronia8 жыл бұрын
PH, do something well or don't do it at all. I know you saw a small window to do a quick review but such poor production will only hurt your brand. Your logo is also too literal and in fact translates more to 'death by pistons'. There's a hunger for this type of content but you will need to clean up your act and up your game to win subscribers.
