I see what you're saying. But I must disagree. Forget about which car model and their performance equivalents seem to match-up. Physically, these cars fit an IDENTICAL niche. I could totally see myself comparing these in order to buy one. They do the same thing, and are the same by all parameter I can currently think of. Seats 4, around same power, shape, and volume (arguably price, too.) This match is more fitting than TTrs, SLK, and Z4M.

Just test drove this car in Mass. What an amazing machine. Great engine, gearbox, handling, acceleration, and fun factor. The RS screams aggressiveness with its swollen intakes and large rear wing. However for an extra 10 grand over my 2010 TTS while sacrificing a harsh ride for more performance, I cannot see the value of upgrading. The TTS offers all of the exciting pleasures as the RS, yet you can use it everyday. Call me crazy, but im sticking with my T(I)TS.

@koukicrisp The Evo's inline four is indeed transversely mounted, otherwise: - It WAS developed primarily as an AWD - It DOES have ACTIVE, MECHANIC DIFFERENTIALS (apart from its electronic diff) - It DOES have AWD suspension - It DOES have near symmetrical weight distribution - It DOES have a far more aggressive suspension configuration - It DOES and even allow you to modulate its rear-axle bias. So, the Evo and not the TT RS is the pure magic...

@TheEryk03 Early TT models gained press coverage for a series of high-speed accidents in Europe. Reported crashes and related fatalities occurred at speeds in excess of 180 kilometres per hour (110 mph), during abrupt lane changes or sharp turns. Both the Coupé and Roadster models were recalled in late 1999/early 2000, to improve predictability of the car's handling at very high speeds. Audi's Electronic Stability Programme, and rear spoiler were added, along with suspension modifications.

Even in dry roads those two RWD already sweating. What if the test is on wet or snow..:) another point to be made here, the 0-60mph time on the TT-RS is 3.6 sec. That number already in supercar territory. Even the big brother M3 cannot beat that.
@swansmeister10 жыл бұрын
Its clear that you know nothing about cars. Like unabated said its not all about numbers, and even if it is the 1M/// pulled more G en was faster on the lanechange also so......Bmw steers better, looks better, is more pratical and is probably cheaper too so why wouldnt it win. Ill take the m/// above anu ttrs any day, it's a drivers car, you are only interrested in being the fastest (in a straigt line) wich tells a lot about you, you probably a douchbag.
@eivyereli271510 жыл бұрын
swansmeister man chill a little, no need to call people names. we're no kids (41 yrs here) you may know cars more than me, but i got 20 good years in drag racing and rally. and just FYI, did you even see my post about wet and snow?? i wasnt even talking about straight lines..lol I'm just making a point that AWD does better than RWD, if road is not dry. everyone has it's own personal taste and views about their fave cars, if i offended you, my apology. Don't get too emotion man, cheers
@swansmeister10 жыл бұрын
ok maybe i was a bit harsh there but 0-60 time is in my opinion in a straight line or do they messure that time on a twisty line these days. Btw the tested numbers in real life of the m/// are 4.2 secs wich is a half a second slower wich isnt that much. If you have that much experience in rally driving then you must appreaciate a good steering and reacting car no? I think everybody knows audi quattro is indeed superior and sticks like glue but the best steering car in terms of reaction speed and balance and not too forget the most rewarding car to drive is the 1M///. I drive an audi s6 myself (old c5 model) and had 3 m5's before that and ill take the M/// before the S or RS models anyday, ok the traction of the audi is unbelievable definitely with my setup but the M///'s steering is so direct and precise, also its ability too consume little bumps in the road is way better then the audi's. Ok thats about it :p Didn't mean to be that harsh before but i just hate it when people use numbers instead of what a car is realy about. Cheers
@eivyereli271510 жыл бұрын
swansmeister No worries..I may have said over the line myself. We love our fave cars and fave brand. We know them so well that we defend hard enough to make arguments. just so you know, my experience with BMW is limited only to e30 and e92. the e30, I used to own the 325i 4door. To this day, its still one of my fave car and if I ever gonna buy BMW again, it would be e30. and for the e92, i've driven the car due to work related. With stock setup, the car still look like it's been lowered. anyway, gl man!
@Lythunder10 жыл бұрын
Wrong statement imo. If the winner is to be decided by the paper facts, then Audi TTRS is better than its bigger brother Audi R8 which is almost 4 times expensive. There are more criterion other than 0-60 acceleration my friend.

Looked at the TT RS, BMW M3 & Infiniti IPL for my last purchase. The RS? Nice car but I found it rather unattractive (a personal judgement) and rather uncomfortable/noisy. The BMW was wonderful but *everything* was an add-on with tons of vanity options - ugh. The IPL was a good value & very attractive but, as they say, relatively slow. Fortunately, Stillen has a kit to supercharge the IPL. The result is a car that is faster than any of these, a bit less expensive, and a great daily driver.
@wasdwasdwwasd13 жыл бұрын

@lbryan250 i think you're missing the point. the old E30 M3 was pretty easy to drive as well. In terms of ease of input (steering, clutch, brakes) and controllability when pushed hard it is no harder to drive than a modern car. The Audi (and most modern cars, even the 1Mqp to an extent) uses computers to control chassis, brakes, steering, suspension etc. to make the drive easier and less involving. some people like that, the guys from car and driver seemingly don't

The Infiniti IPL is getting an AMG based engine from Mercedes Benz which will filter down into many IPL cars by 2013. So I wont pass judgment till later down the road. IPL is so premature to judge right now, but the G37 sure is sexy. For right now the IPL G Coupe is not intended to hunt M3s. It was never meant to. The IPL G37 coupe simply provides an incremental step up in performance and style beyond products that are already badged "Sport." Its more comparable to the likes of the BMW 335is.

@KaiserSoze7 Have you driven either of these cars? Let me tell you that DCT matter QUITE A BIT ... The base specs show they are pretty much identical : TTrs : 3320 lb / 335hp 1M : 3296 lb / 335hp (~375hp with 10sec overboost) That gives the 1M a tiny advantage, and for 0-60 / 1/4 a bit bigger one, but I will grant that the TTrs finally solve some of the issues Audi's have getting off the line. Popping a DCT in either of these cars will give you a 0.2-0.3 0-60 and 0.3-0.5 1/4 time.
