This was an audio drama that was recommended to me back around May or so, but I only just now got to it. And after listening to most of it over the weekend, I'm amazed it took me this long.

I adore this podcast, it's one of my favorites! Great review. I listened back again and I think I appreciate it a lot more listening to it a second time. I love what the makers were trying to do and loved how dedicated they were to the characters. One thing that I will never understand is the ending (spoilers ahead). In the end, Tom finds Rob and "saves him" (thank god). He takes Rob's phone that also has all of the messages saved on it. At that point, he's thrust back into time by.... Alice? The road? We're not quite sure, it's very unclear. Now back in time, he sends his past self the messages and then runs out in front of his past self, making sure he got hit by the car. All so past Tom can end up in the hospital. My question is this... why? First, why would Rob need to be saved in the end? It sounds like he got out just fine on his own, though a little worse for wear. Why did Tom need to be there at all? Second, who sent Tom back in time? Does Alice now have those capabilities? If, so why couldn't she have just sent the messages back in time instead of sending Tom back in time? Maybe she needed someone to click send, that makes sense. But, now my final question. Why on EARTH does Tom need to jump out in front of his past self and get himself hit? Is that what Alice REALLY wanted? For Tom to do that? Which leads me to think that it was the road's doing, but somehow I doubt that considering the road doesn't seem to care about what happens to Rob after he brings Alice into the game. So, why would it try to save him in any way? The whole ending made no sense. It really should have ended with Tom saving Rob and they could of said that Alice must have sent the messages herself. Though, obviously she couldn't in this new world since messages don't get sent to our world. But, they should have come up with another explanation, because this one felt just felt like a stretch based on the the story's own rules. Again, who was the one that sent him back in time? That's the big question. ANYWAYS. XD

İ did the mistake of listening the podcast without my headphones once then immediately switched back. QCode always makes podcast with good quality sound. My favorite is "edge of sleep"

Loved your review! I just finished the podcast today and am surprised it isn't talked about more. I think Amazon is doing a show based on the story.

I thought it was the best one I've listened to until the end. About the last hour was so disappointing. It should have stopped when. She left the city alone. That would have been a perfect spot to end. Just left it open to possibly continue her solo adventure or just stop and let readers decide in their own head what happened

Subscribed! Great analysis! I like your videos. Thanks for sharing. Please listen to Borassca and The Edge of Sleep by QCode! I would love your reviews of both of them. They are almost finished with part two of both!

You're probably right about the corn fields, but there are 3 national forests between Phoenix and Flagstaff. So someone playing the game could very easily wind up in a forest with or without the reality bending capabilities the game possesses.

Listened to it but toward the end I was lost and felt like maybe it was something I needed to actually visualize to get

Agreeing with what others have said. The ending was so mediocre, it made almost no sense. The ending in the original wasn't great, and the podcast ending was worse. NoSleep seems to have a running theme of no stories ending happy, but if any deserved it, it might have been this. I'm not asking for a wild happy ending, but Alice is a journalist who wants to find the truth and bring it back. Alice has a family who loves her. Alice is a very empathetic person, and I don't understand her choice. I also don't understand why Tom needed to get hit by a car. I think she should have found the end of the road. I think the road should have had an end. People died so she can get there, only for... only for her to leave the world behind. I dunno. I have a lot of thoughts about the ending.

Tbh I hated QCode's poscast. It wasnt the actual story, it was changed to be utter crap. The ending enfuriated me the most, since in the poscast it made no sence. Either read the normal story on reddit or listen to the dark somniums narraration :)
