More very useful info, many thanks for making this! Thank you also for mentioning the model of condenser mic, I needed one as well.

Looks great! I use the ATR-2100 for the Travel Like a Boss Podcast and am very happy with the sound. I'll check out the AT2005 as well to see which one's cheaper to get as a backup!

As of today, the 2005 is $79 & the 2100 is $54.50 on Amazon. What sense does that make? ☹️

Both this one and the ATR2100 seem like great options. For my intentions and budget, I am planning on getting something like the Rode Procaster or Heil PR40, and then one or two of these Audio-Technicas. I don't record into the computer much, but I love that I can quickly and easily when I want to without an interface. I prefer the look of the AT2005 too, but that limited lifetime warranty is hard to ignore.

Thanks for a good well done helpful detailed review. I'm debating btwn getting and my present MXL condenser but the thought in doing is lower the room noise.

can you set the mic as an audio output (to the monitor) in the computer? i am looking to setup a mic and an interface, but this should work for me temporarily (while i don't have an interface yet) if i can use the usb and the built-in monitor. thanks

The AT mics are the same, buy whatever is cheaper. Really nice comparison and video review btw.

Very treble-y sound on that mic compared to the condensor. How do you compensate for that?

I would recommend adjusting the EQ on the mixer. Everyone's voice is different so I always recommend adjusting the EQ for each person. The AT2005 actually has a better response on the lower end of the spectrum (50Hz on the AT 2005 vs. 100Hz on the HTDZ HT-81) but they do capture sound differently. You can also build some lows into the sound by adding a compressor to your setup and/or running the audio recording through a software based multi-band compressor in Adobe Audition or Audacity.

Aahh. Cool. It's like your old tech podcast. I love your intro. I have an irig podcast mic. I am kinda starting a podcast for my friends to practice. Interviews and all. About our past. How we met. For a laugh. Cant wait to watch Revolution in the morning. Good night.

I'm picking the AT2005 also because it looks better. I would get annoyed if I had to look at that shiney silver mic. Give me something subtle and classy looking.

Are you doing advertisements now?
@GoldenSpiralMedia10 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what you mean, Bruce. Are you talking about a KZbin ad that was played before the video? Are you asking if the video itself is an advertisement? It's not an advertisement. I bought the mic with my own money and put together a review of it. Audio Technica did not give me the mic or pay me in any way.

I have a podcast on iTunes called “Deer Stand Hill” I would love to be a guest via Skype on your podcast. We could do two, one about our podcast content and the other on our gear. What do you think?
