Good job with the real-world outdoors test. I think this mic is really a great replacement for the built-in mics on digital cameras and video cameras. I think there is too much hiss in the tele mode. This mic also works well indoors. I've used this in numerous situations, and it's always performed well.

I got this mic the other day and had no problems with it. The tele mode you'll hear some hiss, but I think having a DXA Micro Pro definitely helped eliminate it.

Great product, better if it had included a shock mount. How well would this work on a boom pole or a grip? Would the included mic stand holder can work as a grip too? Thanks.
@thephotobuyerguy41387 жыл бұрын
thanks for watching and commenting Richard, I guess for a "budget" mic they leave off shock mounts, good question about the mic stand holder, I never used it , If I was using this on a boom pole , I would want to make sure it is very secure , I do not think I would rely on the mic stand adapter
@richarda.phillips21817 жыл бұрын
Can't decide between this or the Azden SMX-10. Can't find any comparisons. Thanks for the reply.
@thephotobuyerguy41387 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard, I have tried a few of the Azden mic in the past and they have been fine , likely the Audio Technica and Azden are made in the same factory ( or similar) I know Boya (Chinese manufacture) has very "similar" units , either way they are both reasonably priced and will be much better than a cameras internal mic

I ended up buying a shock mount. They aren't terribly expensive, and it was well worth the few dollars.

what mic you were using were you were standind outdoors and with the audio thechnica in your hand or in the camara and no background noise? even when it seems windy behind (ex. in 4:47)
@thephotobuyerguy41385 жыл бұрын
Hi Maxi, I was using a wireless LAV , the same one I was using for most of the video (used before and after the AT mic) thanks

What if I put the camera a few feet away from the subject(s) and I wish to capture their voices like in an interview or movie scene like with a boom pole or off-camera mic stand how do I connect the microphone? That cable surely isn't long enough is that situation.
@thephotobuyerguy41387 жыл бұрын
Hi Oscar, you could have the mic about 3 feet away from the camera without the need for an extension cable , not sure if that would work for your situation or not , again the closer the mic is to your subject the better , you may want to plug into a separate audio recorder for the best results and then you do not have to be plugged in to the camera at all , thanks for watching

Thanks for the video.. What lavaliere mic are you using
@thephotobuyerguy41387 жыл бұрын
Hi Narendra, thank you for watching, I'm using a basic wireless LAv system, called TechPro (available at London Drugs in Canada )
@NarendraKumarJ7 жыл бұрын
Excellent quality of audio by the Lav system, noise is almost non existent outdoors. Would be a greater choice compared to the shotgun if situation and budget permits.
@thephotobuyerguy41387 жыл бұрын
You're right , the LAV is a great way to go, if you have the budget , having the mic close to the speaker always gives the best result , but its tough if filming more than one person at a time
@NEOMASS07 жыл бұрын
have you tried plugging the mic into a separate preamp before connecting straight to camera? bc like you said the camera's built pre amp sucks .
@thephotobuyerguy41387 жыл бұрын
Hi Neomass, thanks for watching , I have NOT tried the mic plugged into a pre-amp, but I imagine it would much better than plugging directly into a camera (especially if there is level control)

What's the battery hour time when using this microphone.
@thephotobuyerguy41386 жыл бұрын
Wow great question , the battery lasted for hours 8-10 hours or more , didn't use for weeks and then worked for at least 8 hours more , I was told if its a really good battery it could last up to 1000 hours, but have never tested that out , I never want to risk no sound for the price of an inexpensive battery
@petenicezz6 жыл бұрын
ok, thanks, cause I be doing wedding videos so want to make sure the battery don't die half way thru when doing a wedding video shoot for the day.

did you hear any hissing in the recording that you had to edit out ?
@thephotobuyerguy41388 жыл бұрын
Hi Louis, thanks for watching, I did not get any hissing and I did not make any modifications or filtering in editing , sound is straight out of the camera ( note some cameras have mic level adjustments, you may want to check this if you are getting hiss) or using an extension cable can cause it as well

Thanks for watching Adri, it's been a while since I shot this, I believe it was the Nikon 85mm f1.8 , however , I do also use the Sigma 50mm f1.4 occasionally

The Photo Buyer Guy thank you for answering. I found that the shot is amazing cause the bokeh looks rounded and bent. It's amazing. Idk it reminds me of anamorphic for some reason lol

sory, my bad, the problem was that the preamp of the dslr's are so bad that there is no way to record good sound, there is too much hissing... it is better to spent money in a digital recorder instead.

Would this work on a computer?
@thephotobuyerguy41388 жыл бұрын
Hi Frank, yes it would if your computer has a 3.5mm jack , although for working close to computer a shotgun mic wouldn't necessarily be my first choice, unless you were trying to record something that is a little further away, thanks for watching
@aaronlowe31567 жыл бұрын
Frank J. Alejo I would recommend a Neewer NW-800 or a Floureon BM-800 for a computer. With the extra money, you can get a scissor arm and pop filter. And possibly a phantom power module. This mic (The Audio Technica) is more geared toward video production and isolating sound from the sides. Certainly not ideal when you have so much opportunity to capture audio at a computer desk.

For some people white flashes are very common and are normally harmless. They are more common if you are short-sighted or as you get older, maybe consult a physician .
