Taoism isn’t a spiritual extracurricular activity, it’s an integral practice for living all of life to the fullest. Taoist living rests on four pillars-the public, the domestic, the private, and the spirit lives. Not only do Taoists strive to live these four aspects fully and in a balanced way, they also believe there is an outlook and an art to each of them.

So i have been meth free for 8 months. But I am having trouble finding........ my self, a purpose , anything. The things I used to do no longer give me peace. My wood work, my crafts....no energy. Just feeding and watching bird's. And smoking way to many cigarettes. Any thoughts? Recommendations?

TLDR: Embracing the dao and the teachings of the Tao allows individuals to find contentment, navigate obstacles, and achieve universal connectedness and understanding of the natural order. 1. 00:00 🌌 Reality is subjective and constantly changing, and we often fail to recognize this. 2. 01:26 🌿 Embracing the dao allows one to navigate obstacles, find contentment in both good and bad times, and be respected as a leader or find happiness as a hermit. 2.1 Extreme conditions can harm the body and spirit, and it is important to care for both in order to allow energy to run its natural course. 2.2 Embracing the dao allows one to navigate obstacles, find contentment in both good and bad times, and be respected as a leader or find happiness as a hermit. 2.3 Embracing the principles of the tao allows one to see things as they are and to let things run their natural course without manipulation. 3. 04:25 🌿 Enlightened individuals guide others through non-action and adaptation, embracing simplicity and harmony to achieve universal connectedness and understanding of the natural order. 3.1 Enlightened individuals can influence others through their presence, guiding by non-action and adapting to the demands of the situation, while staying true to their principles. 3.2 Embracing simplicity and harmony with all things leads to a universal connectedness and understanding of the natural order. 4. 06:18 🌀 Disconnected teachings of sunzi, mozi, and mencius cannot offer a true understanding of reality and the natural way. 4.1 The teachings of sunzi, mozi, and mencius are like single spokes on a wheel, but it is the structural roundness of the wheel, not the spokes, that makes it work. 4.2 Disconnected elements cannot offer a true understanding of reality and teachings, as skill in specific areas does not provide a holistic understanding of the natural way. 5. 08:15 🌿 True knowledge comes from the heart of an enlightened person, virtue is part of the natural way, and ancient Chinese philosophers debated the best form of government. 5.1 True knowledge can only come from the heart of an enlightened person, and the farther it is from the source, the less effective it will be. 5.2 Virtue is part of the natural way, and when it flourishes, there is no need for benevolence and integrity, but when it is absent, benevolence and integrity are needed to maintain order in society. 5.3 Philosophers and teachers in ancient China debated the best form of government and promoted their ideas through flowery speeches, intimidating opponents with knowledge, and complicating society with codes of correct actions. 6. 11:50 🌿 The Tao teaches that straying from virtue leads to emptiness and enslavement by desire, while focusing on inner nature allows freedom from external constraints and anxiety. 6.1 When one strays from the path of virtue and loses their essence, they become an empty shell, dictated by external pressure and enslaved by desire and greed. 6.2 The sage focuses on inner nature, not external distractions, and can travel far and wide, while the ordinary person is constrained by rules and regulations, leading to anxiety and constant excitement. 7. 14:13 🌿 The sage is free from desires, seeks contentment with essentials, and remains calm and balanced in the face of praise or blame. 7.1 The ordinary person desires what they do not have, but the sage is free from burdens and desires and is in touch with the greater order of things. 7.2 Contentment with the essentials eliminates desire, true ownership and honor do not seek ambition or fame, virtuous behavior is superficial, and the sage remains calm and balanced in the face of praise or blame, life or death. 8. 16:13 🌿 Stilling the mind and focusing on the true nature of things brings peace and prosperity, while distractions lead to suffering and destruction for all. 8.1 Desire causes attachment to sensory stimuli, leading to a loss of natural function and awareness. 8.2 Clear intelligence and peace of heart come from stilling the mind and focusing on the true nature of things, rather than being distracted by desires and cravings. 8.3 Following the natural way of the dao brings harmony and prosperity, but it is difficult to maintain stillness amidst distractions. 8.4 Following the ways of the dao leads to prosperity and benefit for all, while abandoning it results in suffering and destruction for everyone. 8.5 Freedom allows for appreciation and growth, while nurturing inner nature and creating peaceful conditions leads to flourishing and development.
