Audiologist are my heros. I lost my hearing at 16 and no one was as compassionate, determined, and as understanding as a Audiologist. I struggled in school and they put me in special Ed, I got my first hearing aids on valentines day. In 9 weeks I will be getting my first cochlear implant in my left ear. I am a violin teacher for children, I am also a professional orchestra member, even though I can't ear I feel vibrations. If you're an Audiologist God bless you you change so many lives everyday!

Thank you for sharing this information! My HS senior is interested in anatomy & when i mentioned this as a career path, he perked up. He witnessed his Grandmother have severe hearing loss issues & receive a cochlear implant that came with many challenges itself. Her audiologist explained to us that she'd noticed a decline of professionals in her field and the demand is increasing. In part, she explained, because of how much education is required + cost. He's also interested in psychology so we're hoping to guide him on a path that he's passionate about learning & proud of his contributions to society. I'm going to share this video & others to him. Perhaps we can find an audiologist that he can intern with in the meantime. Thank you!

There is also the fact that there are 2 Audiology types of degrees: an Au.D (Clinical Audiology) or a Ph.D (Research Audiology). This may not be in the data but Audiologist also works with hearing aid manufacturers.

That’s a good euphemism, “works with”. The same way a car dealer “works with” the car manufacturers but way worse. It’s not like it’s a cartel where a few companies control the market, set ridiculous prices and lobby for laws/policies to keep the price controls and stranglehold on the market. They are shady middlemen who make money off the backs of some of the most vulnerable people in our society, the elderly and hearing impaired. You can legitimately buy multiple IPhone 13’s and the most expensive MacBook Pro for what one hearing aid costs. A hearing aid that isn’t guaranteed to work and has a “trial period”. It’s a joke. Oh and you need to be “prescribed” a hearing aid, because? “Trust us, we’re professionals and it’s for your safety. Now shut up and hand over $4,000 if you want to hear at all.” It’s gross and should be illegal.
@tylersponder3235 Жыл бұрын
@@SaltNBattery you realize that it’s not an audiologist choice that hearing aids are not covered by health insurance. If anyone is a “cartel” it’s health insurance companies. Audiologists have been petitioning for years that Medicare cover hearing aids. The problem is is that Medicare simply won’t reimburse enough of the cost to even make it worth our time. We would be better off working at a fast food restaurant with the amount they offer and debt that we accumulate.

Audiology in US is a post-graduate program so if you have a Bachelor's degree in Audiology then you may get a Master's degree in Audiology first so that you can start working in Puerto Rico after passing an exam given by the Puerto Rican Board & residing for 6 months prior to the exam, or you can practice in US Virgin Islands by simply applying for a business license at their Department of Licensing & Consumer Affairs, or you can practice in Massachusetts aside from Guam after you seek to receive your Certificate of Clinical Competence at ASHA but if you want to transfer work in other US states then you must enroll on the online two-year bridge program Doctor of Audiology in US universities: Salus University or A.T. Still University because most US States require a Doctorate degree in Audiology. You just need to have money to study online for the two year bridge program. If you also hold an extra degree in Naturopathic Medicine, you can apply in Arizona as a foreign trained Naturopathic Doctor so that you can perform minor surgeries. Cochlear Implant is a minor ear surgery. You can benefit for having an AuD-ND license in Arizona. You will be earning money same as an MD ENT who had fellowship in Otology. The difference is: yours is a faster shortcut and cheaper education. You can also become a faculty for Otology fellowships because some medical training hospitals hire Audiologists to train their MDs who want to become Otologists. Don't forget your US visa, that is the most important part before going to US.

what is the job titles that do the ear testing using those ear testing units with the knobs and sounds? how much does that career pay?
@jadadanos289 Жыл бұрын
Audiologists are the ones incharge of hearing tests, removing hard earwax, or foreign items and insects inside the ears. If you also have an extra degree in Naturopathic Medicine, you can do minor surgeries in Arizona for having both license. Many ear surgeries are minor surgeries like Cochlear Implant as solution when hearing aids isn't enough for a completely deaf person. British Columbia in Canada also lets their Naturopathic Doctors do minor surgeries along the ears.

You get an extra degree in Ayurveda so that you can perform minor ear surgeries in India once you pass the license exam for Ayurvedic Doctors. If you want to work in US, you need to enroll in their two-year online bridge Program Doctor of Audiology at Salus University or A.T. Still University (post-professional Doctor of Audiology online) then apply for Certificate of Clinical Competence at ASHA. Furthermore, only Arizona state allows minor surgeries for those with Naturopathic Doctor degrees, they allow overseas trained Naturopathic Doctors to practice there because they have rural areas, I know India has schools offering MD in Naturopathy, it's better to secure such second degree to increase the scope of your practice as Audiologist.
