Longtime fan of this channel, but this video stands out as very unusual for you. Where in the video does an officer lie? Can you point to a timestamp? Why do you claim that Mr. Ortiz "maintained a calm and collected demeanor" when he responded to an officer who calmly (and, according to you, correctly) states "I'm just letting you know what the vehicle and traffic law is" with "No no no no no no...." Mr. Ortiz maintains a needlessly argumentative tone throughout the encounter, denying things that, as far as I can tell, are never alleged by anybody, while the officers not only politely assist with his request to file a complaint but also take the extraordinarily courteous step of speaking with his *mother over the phone*! Where's the "lying officer" and how did Mr. Ortiz get "saved" by his dash cam? As far as I can tell, the video's title is false and defamatory.

So what happens the inpatient driver honks at the newbie, the newbie thinking he/she doing something wrong accelerates and hits another car or what not. In this case if its recorded the honking car will be liable for the damages done and arguing in the court that the car behind honked and the newbie got stressed is more than enough to get out Scot-Free. When police officers routinely "investigate ourselves and find nothing wrong", and police unions defend police officer actions regardless of the right or wrong of those actions, it's inevitable you'll get situations like this. The fact this comment has 278 likes is incredible. "Hes got it recorded so theres no reason to lie" 'Implying if it was not recorded theres no reason to tell the truth' That's not how logic works- his initial statement only serves to render the mom comfortable in believing what he says(since she's unlikely to believe his side over her sons) given that it's all recorded so lying would be pointless and therefore she doesn't need to doubt what he's saying. That doesn't imply that when there's no recording, there's not a reason to tell the truth. That's like if I was an honest person and someone recorded me at a party when a murder occurred and the police say 'hey, you did it' and I say 'nah man it wasn't me look, theres a recording so no need for me to lie' Does that mean the police can say 'ah this sounds like hes implying if there was no recording of him, then he'd have no reason to tell the truth...' Does that mean they can think you're a liar for having been on video? Of course not. Some sentences sound good and this is one of them, but it's disingenuous for people to view it as a valid statement

Such a thing happening is unlikely in any one scenario, but given the millions of miles driven daily in this country you get huge aggregate numbers from such low-percentage happenings. Cops can give tickets to drivers not driving fast enough because they are a danger. That it the EXACT reason for the law. Yet honking at someone causing dangerous condition with too low a speed it an offence. SMH. There is a ticket for EVERYTHING.

I counted the cop being sarcastic 5 times, interupting him 9 times, lying atleast 3 times, and yelling at him 4 times. There is no reason for a police officer to act that toxic twoards another person for just honking their horn. This dude has no right to wear the badge. He should be put on probation and forced to take anger management classes.

"His use of the horn likely violated local statutes." Not from what you read unless I missed something. The horn honk obviously and clearly would serve the purpose of warning. Namely warning others nearby that there is abnormal and therefore unsafe traffic conditions, in this case two assholes being quasi-parked and ignoring rules, laws, and standard etiquette of vehicle operation.

@@TokesTv If any cause for ‘slow flow of traffic’ justifies a honk then NY streets would be nothing but horns day and night. That’s unreasonable. Since reasonableness is a component of the statute such honking doesn’t fly. His better argument is to fight the ticket on the basis of the code being vague so they can fix/clarify it to codify the need for the danger to be eminent which is clearly how it’s enforced and how most reasonable people interpret it.
@c5dynomite3 жыл бұрын
This is actually the first poor judgement call I've seen from an ATA video, that horn was 100% justified compared to most of the things people honk for. They were impedeing traffic, he honked to warn them of potential danger (someone not paying attention behind them, etc) and when they showed they were cops he stopped. Then the cop starts talking to him like they werent doing anything wrong. Cops need to be ego-checked before becoming cops.

I'm super late, but not to mention it's new york traffic, those fuckers are the most impatient drivers. I think this would 100% hold up in a court room that the horn was used to warn other drivers of harm, even subconsciously.
