So…I personally have not been a big metal fan…my brother in-law Rob was…August Burns Red was his absolute favorite! He was a tattoo fan as well…he had 2 sleeves both August Burns Red album covers…Constellations on one arm and Phantom Anthem on another…he disappeared a little over a year ago…we searched 24-7 for 6 weeks before his remains were found in a section of woods not far from where we had been searching…it was and is heart wrenching…he was loved and IS missed so painfully much…a few days ago August Burns Red was playing in Pensacola…from the moment my wife and I heard they would be playing we HAD to go…we bought VIP tickets so we could meet the band and tell them how much they meant to someone we loved and miss so much more than I can convey here…hearing his story they were truly touched…i have a tattoo combining two of Rob’s with the August Burns Red “U” and Meddler’s lyrics in memory of him…i had to opportunity to show the band and tell them about Rob and several took pics of it…they were incredibly attentive and sincere in their condolences…during the show they remembered the story and dedicated a set to Rob and his family that still mourns his loss…after the show Matt Greiner took the time to visit with my wife and at his suggestion said a prayer with her…I am still so impressed with the band…not only their musical talents, but their kindness and compassion…that night…those special moments have touched me so much. Thank you August Burns Red…you have a whole new fan base because of your caliber of character as much and more than your musical talents

"Meddler" This moment will too pass us by. It's this notion inside all of us to prioritize through our selfish eyes. To be the bull behind the rampage, the reason for all the riot. We'll feed our flame before wasting time on everyone else's, with more problems and less pride. We'll feed our flame before wasting time on everyone else's, the gallows were not supposed to look like this. Oh God, we live in misery, lying here in desperation. We need you here more than anything right now...right now. If everything's relative, then why the emptiness in our souls? If everything's relative, then why the emptiness in our souls? Trying to untie the knot we thought we were untying our entire lives, we're busied up and burnt out.. Everyone together, we will strengthen ourselves. Everyone together, we will strengthen ourselves. Everyone together, we will strengthen ourselves. We will.... Because now we know you won't ever fly fast enough to make time stand still. You won't ever fly fast enough to make time stand still. Stop, listen, and learn. Stop, listen, and learn. You won't ever fly fast enough to make time stand still. Stop, listen, and learn. You won't ever fly fast enough to make time stand still. Don't worry about any particular church, you are the church. Your body is the temple. Music like this... the worship variety... awakens the conscience and your connection with God. Gratitude towards life and what you have been given (The body, capable of understanding) will help you understand that you are a beautiful being, regardless of what anyone has told you. We live among sad people, who do not fully understand what they could be. So worship how you choose to, if it glorifies the Lord, there is nothing better you could do. It doesn't matter if it's gospel, metal, hip hop or R&B. He understands and knows those that love Him.

ABR is the metalcore band that I connect with the most, despite their occasional Christian messages. Personally I don't care if people believe in a flying spaghetti monster (as long as they aren't inciting genocide or hatred etc), especially when they are able to create some of the most passionate, meaningful music I have heard. For those who shun Christian metal, nothing in Bible against making music like this and uplifting the Lord at the same time. God tells us to make a beautiful noise in our singing and worship. I'm willing to bet God enjoys those that make music like this just as much as the original hymns.

I’ll never forget when ABR and suicide silence came to my town with Mitch Lucker. I saw ABR before the show and asked them to play Barbarian(it was probably on the set list anyways) and the singer gave me a nod while they played it.. I’ll never forget that! Vancouver, BC, Croatian cultural centre.
