The sad reality is that if you give your last dollar to someone less fortunate, that doesn’t make you a selfless martyr, that makes you stupid. You need to be able to support yourself before you can support others (financially). It sucks, especially when you want to help, but you need to take care of yourself first. It’s okay to be selfish

This is giving nihilism lol Of course, if you know you need it more and you know that one dollar could make you lose everything, it's stupid to give it away at all. But if I knew someone gave their last dollar to someone who *actually* needed it more, I wouldn't call them stupid, I'd commend them.
@Harudodo4 ай бұрын
@@janelle9998 I get what you’re saying but in what world would giving away your last dollar not lead to you losing something important? I mean if it didn’t it wouldn’t be referred to as “your last dollar” 😅
@rolanddeschain67834 ай бұрын
Not many people agree with this, otherwise you wouldn't have people dogging on MrBeast despite being the very example of what your asking for. I think this is to do with how historically most virtues are selfless to the point of self-harm, such as Asceticism which is abstinence from all worldly pleasures, even food. Greek philosphers like Diogenes were another example. If you practice even a little selfishness that will be used against you. I am not saying the guy in the video is like that but its worth pointing out that a lot of virtues if you took them seriously, are stupid in practice. Its why pragmatic characters are often put against idealistic characters, because these two perspectives sometimes conflict. In such cases, the realistic approach is the one that makes you look like a villain, at best they are portrayed as unlikable. The advice you give is good advise, but its worth noting that if you act on it, your hand will get bitten over and over again when you try to feed someone. Hard to be good when your seen as a bad guy at socilogical level.
@DreamerJoy4 ай бұрын
How to fix the plot. (Would still not be still be good, but not as stupid.) Instead of his phone dying, he realized he just dropped the bus ticket while he was paying for the family. Instead of the mother buying a lotterly ticket, she was buying food, and it had a golden ticket like thing in it. The other stuff could still be the same, but those two things where the major problems.
@Larsen_illustrations4 ай бұрын
Honestly I'd vote for the woman being the villain and the child being the protagonist, she starts telling her mom to just put the ticket away and the mom refuses, and maybe after the lottery she feels nice because of course she would but she also realizes that her mom is spending a lot of the money they won on gambling and she has to try and stop her, (let's just ignore the man) and maybe through this she realizes that her mom cares more about doing the thing she's addicted too than making sure they're healthy and they start struggling again and maybe she reports her mom to CPS and they by rare chance she gets taken away because her mom clearly has an addiction that's stopping her from being able to provide a safe environment, and maybe the man in a slightly better situation then when he gave a dollar to them is the foster dad and idk I'm getting tired of this, maybe he shows her how to effectively save money and manages to care for her better Idk it's a bad story but i think it's better, i mean it shows that you should advocate for yourself if you're in a bad situation and it could show the viewer how to save money and those are fairly decent life lessons

Not trying to be bleak, being a nihilist is bad in its own ways, but thinking that as long as you do good it’s eventually gonna come back to you is just as dangerous. David was gonna get fired anyways. If he didn't give his only dollar to a homeless lady he would have spent it on a bottle of water he should have either charged his phone, or kept his dollar that way he wouldn't have gotten fired and would have been fine. The time I was a dollar short it was when I was a high school student buying ice cream from an ice cream truck the driver was cool and covered the dollar for me. I would have been fine if he reasonably denied me the purchase.

The performance in the gas station reminded me of a “What Would YOU Do” video where a woman is in a toy store trying to buy Lego’s for her kid and is unable to pay. A dad is nearby with his son and they’re not paying attention, so the host/whoever instructs the woman via earpiece to keep repeating loudly that she can’t afford the set until the dad finally notices and pays for it.

Awww yeah here we go again! If you ever do the Top 10 Worst Dhar Mann Videos here are my choices. Jay & Mikey, disabilities/cancer, and SSSniperwolf only get one spot Mikey’s Bomb Threat = Dhar had the nerve to make this into a “life lesson.” Watching Mischief Mikey never learn is painful every time, but downplaying terrorism should’ve earned demonetization. Dhar’s ego also makes the worst appearance. He’s so great that a kid who commits terrorism should get out of jail to meet him? The Period Video = The plot alone makes it awful, but SSSniperwolf really can’t act. The timing of her casting is even worse. She just committed a serious crime against another KZbinr. The mom actress is easily the worst character in all of Dhar Mann. She’s not only the cause of Mischief Mikey, but extremely annoying and creepy in the Sisters series. CPS was made for parents like her. Out of all disabilities portrayed, I find Autism the most problematic. They’re inaccurate, always involve a bully, and never focus on the struggles involved. The bully turns nice after the autistic person helps them somehow. The life lesson comes across as “Those with Autism are useful after all.” Gamer Girl Puts Off School = I learned nothing and witnessed the cringiest bullying known to Mann. A 3rd grader could’ve written better exchanges. Kid Kills Mom For An iPhone = Dhar Mann is shameless for using this plot as a “life lesson”. Husband’s Road Rage = Excuses psychopathic behavior and makes the “villain” change his behavior just so the ending can be happy. The wife’s “solution” would worsen everything. Her husband’s anger issues, earn her lawsuits, divorce papers, lost custody of her child, and jail time. Jordan Ramsay = It’s impressive how a video can be both extremely lazy and contrived. August touched on the hidden cameras, so I’ll mention how the real Gordon Ramsay wouldn’t act like this. He catches cheaters with his own eyes. He’d also pick the most consistent chef over a double fluke. Instead of getting beaten up by the girl’s dad, his punishment should’ve been cleaning every dish used during the competition. His dad punishes him too, saying “If you really wanna cook, I’ll teach you.” He partakes in the less glamorous parts of cooking such as peeling many onions and vegetables. Dhar Mann takes girl to prom = The ego stroking and going to prom with a minor was so bad, it overshadowed his usual superficial Megamind portrayal of cancer. He wouldn’t just invite his nephew as her date and be the chaperone? Grandma death prank = I’d call it clickbait since 90% of the plot is Adam’s lies to date her granddaughter. The other 9.99% is spent with Darla, a creepy side character who sexually harasses Adam. In hindsight, Granny B is the biggest creep of all for enabling her. Even if there’s a miscommunication, she knows likely knows about Darla’s behavior and she’s 50 years older than him. If Dhar really wants to “change lives” the consequences should line up with Adam’s actions. He lied about being a Personal Trainer and endangered his clients, who aren’t any better for death pranking him. Threaten to sue if he doesn’t refund them, drop his fake profession, and an apology to Carla. The end The Alcoholic Grandma = It’s really sad how Dhar Mann uses grandmas for clicks. Unlike the last one, alcoholism is a serious topic. He both patronized and left it unresolved. The daughter’s manipulative behavior was excused entirely. Instead, the other grandmother, who has a clean slate is in trouble for protecting her grandchildren from child endangerment. She’s actually the biggest victim. The conclusion doesn’t resolve alcoholism, suggest marriage counseling, keeping the children safe, or rethink any boundaries whatsoever.

If I think there's even a chance I can't follow through, I don't promise to do something. I can also personally attest to "you can be a nice person and still suffer." Yeah, it sucks big time, but it's how the world is. Also, if you're poor, never shop at convenience stores! The markups are crazy there. I know food deserts are a thing (I live in one), but yeah, do your best not to shop at convenience stores. And spending your very limited income on gambling? Especially when you have a child to provide for?! How stupid can you be?! I don't care that she won. No one should do that or anything like it when they're poor.
