Former homeless person here, this guy pisses me off. I don't think anyone should fake being homeless, even for social experiments, since being actually homeless is terrifying. I'll never forget that time at 4 am on a winter/spring morning when a cop woke me up in my tent and basically told me to get lost from the only safe-ish place I could find within walking distance of the teen services I was using for food and job hunting.

tbh i don't give money to homeless people because where i live there are quite a few organizations from surrounding countries that just sent random people out there to collect money on the streets, i've heard stories from family members who wanted to give these guys food and they refused and just asked for money so you never know if it's real or not but sometimes well known organizations (that really help people in need) stand infront of grocery stores and ask you if you want to buy food for people that can't afford it, then they give you a list and you choose what you want to buy for them. to me that's just a way better system than just handing out money

I've always felt really bad for homeless people, the majority of them are genuinely just fallen on hard times and a 5 dollar bill will help. Then only problem is where I love and how it's treated here that always makes me hesitant. I live in Austin Texas and believe it or not it's very VERY liberal. They basically made it a few years back that you could just sell your home and love on the streets in a tent and not pay any taxes. Because of this there was a huge influx of people dropping everything except their car and just living a life in the side of the road with no job, no responsibility, bit plenty of money all by choice. It's genuinely infuriating to see, especially when it does actually put a bad look on actually homeless folk.
