Hi, I'll definitely be reacting to more from that video. Just not sure what yet.
She likes to have some lights onto the audience so that she can see their faces during the performance. At the concert I attended, in Bristol UK, I was at the very front, probably no more than 10 feet from her maximum, and I could see her eyes not flicking around the audience but picking out one member for a short period of eye contact and then moving on to another ... truly magical.
@Smaugyyy2 жыл бұрын
Yes, she obviously likes the personal, individual contact, and not getting drown in the masses. This is her introvert yet emphatic nature. I could see this also in the interaction outside with fans, she takes her time for everyone. :)

I think the spotlight on her distracts her from being able to make eye contact with those in the audience. Maybe she feels her audience is more important than herself. Great reaction and I hope you get to see, and maybe react to the full HAIK documentary with the concert at the end. Well worth it! Thanks Bob.

Congrats on Aurora live!👍 This clip is from an NRK's (Norwegian public broadcasting company) HAIK series when they spend a day with popular Norwegian artists before gifting them a surprise venue to play for selected fans, friends and family. Aurora was of course gifted to play in her childhood forest. You really should watch/react to the documentary made on the day as well as this entire mini-concert (both exist in subtitled forms on here - though I know at least a couple are auto-generated, so you may have to do some guessing) Aurora, as she grows up, she reminds me more and more about another teen-wonder - Kate Bush. Not so much in musical style as this enormous quality and consistency which comes from a singular identity. I also think that Aurora, just like Kate Bush who started experimenting with the Fairlight CMI early on manages to tease the earthy qualities of the electronics and samples. What is clear to me is that she is continuing her "concept album" approach to her writing. The last time I heard, she said that she has her next two albums pretty much canned. Which safeguards her from being too "inspired by current trends" and helps her sound out of time, yet strangely contemporary. We also know that she has a record in the making where she records one song per decade. She hopes it will be a long album - to be released after her death. Sadly I will never hear that album. But I take what I get for as long as I can hear.

@@ModernLifeForThe70sMind The sentence she says in Norwegian before starting the song: "Don't forget to dream big! It is very important!" The idea of setting our aim and dreams very high is a general theme of hers, not just in this song Daydreamer. Because she believes we can do so much if we believe in ourselves. In "All Is Soft Inside" she sings "My dreams are bigger than me", and in her explanation of the "Apple Tree" lyrics, which is another of her environmental songs: "‘Apple Tree’ is about the potential that hides in all of us. We can all save the world if we put our minds to it. The world won’t listen to scientific proof that the world is dying, so maybe it will listen to the dreamers, the children. In a bleeding world the power of the individual is our only hope. Let her save the world. Let him save them all. Believe in us, and maybe we’ll be the generation that saves the world, rather than the one that killed it. The world is bleeding. It’s up to us now." This forest that the concert is in, is a place she played in as a child, the whole HAIK show is a "tv show / documentary" with many surprises for Aurora during that day, ending with the concert in the forest. She knew she was going to perform but not where. She explained in interviews that she would be alone in the woods for hours as a child and her parents would literally ring a bell when it was time for dinner. Btw it is Aurora's birthday soon on June 15th, she will be 26.

Bob, I'm first here, yea. You are spot on with your comments, yes the captions are wrong, it is "girl" not "gun' : yes the couple at the front are her very proud parents (they are proud of all of their three daughters, Aurora's older sisters Miranda and Viktoria are respectively Aurora's make up artist and costume designer/maker) : yes the forest is the right setting for Aurora, this forest is the one near her family home that she played in during her childhood. The HAIK concert is pure magic. The Norwegian TV show, HAIK, is a documentary where a whole day of surprises is planned for an artist to thank them for their work. It culminates in a concert that the artist knows that they will perform but they don't know where it will be, so it is the final surprise of the day. During the concert there was another surprise for Aurora, which you will see when you eventually watch the documentary (it is one of the best hours you will spend and after it you will appreciate Aurora even more). "Daydreamer" was the final song of the concert and at the beginning of the song she said "Don't forget to dream big". At the end, of course, you saw what the concert and the appreciation of the audience meant to Aurora. Her attitude, I think, is summed up in a comment she made in a live stream concert she did during the height of the pandemic, "I hope the people enjoy the music because the music enjoys the people". To me, Aurora comes across simultaneously as a very real, honest and genuine person but also a character from a fantastic dream or fairy tale. She is certainly unique and very much appreciated by a growing number of people. Of course therefore, there is a simple answer to her modest question in "Daydreamer", "I know I'm just a girl but can I change lives?" and the answer is a very emphatic "Yes!". Glad you enjoyed Aurora's concert, I am very envious of your experience in that regard. Take care. PS I wrote this half way through, yes you did stop too soon, you missed her honest appreciation at the end.

I love this concert - like you said this is the perfect setting for her - this was part of a TV show where the entire day was planned for AURORA - including the concert - the location of the concert was a surprise to her and it was held in the forrest she used to walk around in a lot as a kid, and often described as her favorite place. I doubt she played this at the concert, but it could sound similar to 'The River' that she played at the concert. (She also played that song at this concert), I know her parents were in the audience, so it is likely the couple you described. The Documentary and Concert is most certainly worth a watch - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJDYiGBmfamKpcU (I am sure all of us would love your reaction to both parts, the documentary of her day and the concert ;) The Norwegian bit at the beginning of this song, she says 'Don't forget to dream big, that is very important' - which fits well with the theme of this song.
@Smaugyyy2 жыл бұрын
She is such a wonderful, pure soul, highly intelligent, yet emotional and emphatic, something very rare to find. She also is an introvert person and afraid of people. But as you said, she is nothing shy and doesn't care what other think about her. She had a lot struggle with herself if this was the right path for her to go, and, at least in the beginning, had anxiety attacks after the concerts, shivering and crying (reference 'Once Aurora' documentary). But her family supported her and made clear this gift you cannot keep to yourself - they didn't even know that she made music until she was a young teen, she was playing in the attic by herself where she found a small keyboard, that she had to operate with one hand, because she had to press the power button with the other - and she agreed, finally she is born to spread love to the world. The forest this concert was held are the woods of where she spent a lot of time in her childhood. She really is a little wood fairy. :) Her parents were in the concert, you can see them at 7:32. I think you should consider reacting to the complete HAIK documentary to learn to know her better, you will not regret it.

If I am nothing, if I am trying, I think I can I step on broken glass, and dream of soft clouds When feelings are heavy they become all we are And we become night time dreamers And street walkers, small talkers When we should be daydreamers And moonwalkers and dream talkers And we become night time dreamers Street walkers, small talkers When we should be daydreamers And moonwalkers and dream talkers In real life The quiet lust belongs to all of us And drives us closer into the madness Of the world, of a girl (And it suits me just fine) 'Cause everyone dies, and nobody loves And somebody dies right now I hear the quiet, sweet music that no one sings And we become night time dreamers Street walkers and small talkers When we should be daydreamers And moonwalkers and dream talkers And we become night time dreamers Street walkers, small talkers When we should be daydreamers And moonwalkers and dream talkers In real life All I ever know is what I dream about when I'm sober Never turn away from love Before the love you have is over All I ever know is what I dream about when I'm sober Never turn away from love Before the love you have is over Nothing can die while we are here Nothing can die while we are here Nothing can die while we are here Nothing can die while we are here Then we become night time dreamers Street walkers and small talkers When we should be daydreamers And moonwalkers and dream talkers And we become night time dreamers Street walkers, small talkers When we should be daydreamers (Nothing can die while we are here) When we should be daydreamers (Nothing can die while, nothing can die) Daydreamers

Hello Bob, first of all thank you very much for the short excerpt from the concert and your impressions. Second, you can see her parents at point 1:52. You're right, it's the two proud people. The concert (HAIK) in the forest (her forest = forest where she played a lot as a child) was organized by NRK TV. But it's not just a concert. They surprised AURORA with different things for a whole day. You should also watch the documentary about this HAIK concert. - AURORA HAIK Full Version - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJDYiGBmfamKpcU - approx. 1h:16m At the beginning the lyrics says the following: " I know I'm just a girl. But can I change lives? If I am nothing, if I am trying, " Normally the answer to a question asked like this would be: 'No, I can't.' And then comes AURORA's answer: "I think I can." That actually says everything about her character. As shy as she is, she is full of courage and the will to change something. AURORA was interviewed about 2 years ago. Her two (older) sisters were also there and were also questioned. You will learn a lot about the three. AURORA - Lindmo Interview (With Miranda & Viktoria Aksnes) [Eng Subs] - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gp2Xp6dtgLqkjMU The documentary is about the first half. Then comes the concert. --- Quotes from AURORA --- 1. But also the small word that mean big things. I really love the words "time", "life" and "death". Because they are connected and at the same time they mean so different things. Despite that they only consist of three letters (in Norwegian). I like number three also because we are three sisters in the family. 2. People often ask me how it is to be me. Which I find to be a very odd question. But then I sit down and I think about it. An I think the biggest difference between me and many people I meet is that I'm extremely free. I've never really cared about what people think what is right or to do what's wrong to do because I don't see any reason to stop myself from fulfilling my impulsive thoughts or doing whatever I want to do. And it's quite a good life when you're free and it's kind of weird because it's this in invisible force stopping people from following their instincts and from doing what they want. Have a nice day and Greetinsg from Germany (In a good 3 weeks, AURORA will be close by (only 20 km) and will be part of a three-day open air concert. But I have no time. I have 25th wedding anniversary - bad timing)

Unfortunately the lyrics and the captions are not very well connected. It seems, that some people, who are responsible for the captions, didn't really hear (or care about) the delivered song, but instead used a translation, they found somewhere on the internet. The (not so) fun fact is, that even several of Aurora's official lyric videos are suffering the same problem. When I grew up, everything was about the intentions of the specific artist. Today it seems, that nobody cares about the artists anymore. Everyone only cares about, what he/she/it think (or feel) personally about the music. But I have to confess, that I'm only a boomer, so my opinion doesn't count here.
