Harry Mudd, that interstellar rogue, is up to his old tricks--and maybe some new ones. A chance encounter with the old rascal has caused some drastic changes aboard the Aurora, and now Kara and T'Ling must race to catch up with Mudd before it's too late!

That's what I love about the Star Trek fan films - THEY CONTINUE THE NARRATIVE, and they push it forward. I really truly and strongly wish that CBS and Paramount would take a gander to what the fan productions have done and SUCCEEDED.

OMG, forgot how great this was. Damn those corporates who prevented more episodes. As a series, I could see this easily on par with Star Trek Continues. Alas. Certainly the best animated version I've seen. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying we could use more Trek like this. LL&P 🖖🙂 "... you know ... we could probably make some more of that stuff ..." I keep repeating watching this episode. It's so much fun. Believe it or not, I love the sound of the breakfast dishes rattling. They ring like everyday stoneware. The flatware sounds like no-frills light stainless steel...and when T'Ling tosses back the bottle of juice...Well, happy First Contact Day!
@Auroratrek
@Auroratrek 3 ай бұрын
I’m glad you’ve enjoyed it! I like to think of the Aurora as being old school even in an old school Star Trek era, so the dishes would be less high-tech than on a fancy new starship. And the juice scene was just a fun kind of over-the-top shot that any self-respecting Harry Mudd episode should have. ;-)

This is kind of the thing I wanted a new Trek show to be -- set in the Star Trek universe, but not dealing with Starfleet too much. Just ordinary people living in the Trek world. So many story possibilities. This was very entertaining, would love to see more like this.

@@Auroratrek you did a great job in broadening the Star Trek universe as I believe Gene Roddenberry had envisioned it to be. I for one think that Gene would have enjoyed your treatment of his universe. After all the Star Trek universe would consist of more than brave men and women boldly setting out to meet the challenges of a vast universe while backed up with the power of the Federation and a Star Ship. What about the intrepid men and women who were scratching out their livings armed with their wits and will. I think that CBS and Paramount have veered onto the wrong track by engaging in post modern deconstruction of the mythos of Star Trek.

Great ending, you knew what the audience expected, and gave them something completely different. Mudd gets away for a change, the Klingons turn out to be more open-minded than they are generally given credit for, and the Caitians, first assumed to be mere "bar girls" a la ST5, may actually have a freighter of their own (as long as Sanrio doesn't act like CBS) Having the aliens act in unexpected ways makes them much more "alien" and gives the ST audience what it truly craves; not a reboot, re-casting, or "homage" but Strange. New. Worlds. Thanks again for Going so boldly.
@Auroratrek
@Auroratrek 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the ending. I've tried to stay true to Star Trek with Aurora, but maybe I've absorbed a tiny bit from two of my favorite storytellers: Joss Whedon, who manages to do the unexpected while always staying true to the characters; and CJ Cherryh, whose characters act more like real people. As for Mudd, despite the fuss, Kara - as a merchanter - would have some empathy for him, since he's just another guy out there trying to make a buck. Klingons, I think, can be swayed toward anything that sounds like a challenge and a chance for glory - note Krag's use of the word "conquer" for wooing, and the description of birth being akin to a bloody battlefield - Klingons love that stuff! Caitians are always fun, but clearly capable, too, as seen with Lt. M'Ress in TAS. (Yeah, I couldn't resist with the Caitians' ship logo.) I agree about allowing aliens a degree of personal freedom, while staying within the parameters of their species and culture - it's true for humans, so why not them? Anyway, thanks again for sticking around to the end of Mudd in Your I - I know it was a long haul, but I'm glad you enjoyed it!

CBS: *Aurora* caused me to decide I *will* watch the new 2017 series. Pick up novels, etc. The 70s fanzines were the basis for restarting commercial Star Trek; contemporary fan media increases your profit in commercial areas by keeping us interested, engaged, eager for the canon expansion. But no one can do this quality in 15 minute segments, with no story longer than two segments. Please change the non-commercial fan license rules for *your* benefit as much as ours. #FreeAuroraTrek

I am glad you managed to get this done. I was awaiting the completion of the story. I hope that the Axanar dispute with CBS ultimately results in CBS/Paramount rethinking their demands. Given that fan films and videos of varying quality have been helping to keep the franchise alive these past several decades, they should logically welcome them. You've developed some great characters and story bases with Aurora Trek. I hope you can eventually manage to keep it up, somehow.

Well worth the wait! Congratulations on finishing what probably seemed like an epic undertaking, and thank you so much for sharing it with us. I wish the official Star Trek series/movies had the imagination to show us more of the "Firefly" side of Gene Roddenberry's wonderful universe. You've really filled in a gap that I would like to see more explored in movies or a TV series, that of the civilian side of Star Trek. I would say I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing more of Aurora, but you deserve a break and I don't want to pressure you. Just know that there's no greater compliment I could give than to say you've left us all wanting more. Bravo! As cliché as it may be, I really do hope that you live long and prosper!
@Auroratrek
@Auroratrek 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It's my pleasure to share this. I was always intrigued by the civilians in Star Trek, so it had been fun exploring that side of the universe! The new fan film guidelines from CBS/Paramount make it difficult to continue Kara and T'Ling in this form, but we'll see. In any case, we're not done trying to tell good animated stories, so make sure to subscribe to this channel if you haven't, and check back going forward, as we'll announce any new work here! We will attempt to live long and prosper, in any case!
@n7ekg
@n7ekg 7 жыл бұрын
Why is that? I see nothing in the guidelines that couldn't be worked around. It seems the first one is the one that would apply here: "1. The fan production must be less than 15 minutes for a single self-contained story, or no more than 2 segments, episodes or parts, not to exceed 30 minutes total, with no additional seasons, episodes, parts, sequels or remakes." Just because a story contains the same characters doesn't make it another episode, I would think. Taken to it's absurd logical conclusion, one could only make one Star Trek-related episode and nothing else after that related to Star Trek at all.
