Roky is so underrated! More people should know about his great work! I wish the Foo Fighters would play a cover of Night of the Vampire!

People that love Psych do and that's enough for me, 13th floor elevators changed the game and will always be remembered, his solo stuff is left for the extra curious

Foo Fighters do a bang-up job of covering a Classic by 13th Floor Elevators. Roky Erickson.....a man who is WAY underrated. Except in Austin. :) They know damned well who he is & what he accomplished there. ;)) Great Music town & Show. Life 4 me wouldn't be the same without Austin City Limits. Started watching it as a teenager in 70's & was exposed to great music I never would have heard about, at that age, anyways. 40 MORE YEARS!!!!

The first "band" I was ever in was two kids in a living room. The singer (me) couldn't carry a tune; the guitarist only knew how to play barre chords; and between the two of us we only knew three songs: "You're Gonna Miss Me," "Two Headed Dog," and an original that we still couldn't play right. The band was a disaster, but that amateur guitarist is the man who introduced me to Roky Erickson. Needless to say this song holds a very special place in my development as a songwriter (who, sadly, is still a terrible performer.) Kudos to the Foos for doing it justice.

Most likely they did several takes (notice how many cameras are used, yet none are seen), cutting together a video using footage from all the takes; and then used the audio from the best take.
@andytheriault938310 жыл бұрын
Nexusaur ARE YOU SUGGESTING THIS ISNT THE FIRST TIME THEY PLAY THROUGH THE SONG?? NO NO!
@jimmyfabs7810 жыл бұрын
Whenever a band makes a music video they are never actually playing, just playing along to their own song being played through a pa.
@samaj200110 жыл бұрын
Thinking logically, look at the cut a split second before 2m 22s... Taylor is playing the crash cymbal, and is in all cuts preceding that. It seems more evident the director or whoever decided to edit in another piece of footage (for whatever reason) that happened to be Taylor on the hi-hats.

+Orieus It's from Roky's solo album, "The Evil One."
@raindogred8 жыл бұрын
from wiki..In 1974, after having been released from state hospital, Erickson formed a new band which he called "Bleib alien", Bleib being an anagram of Bible and/or German for "stay," and "Alien" being a pun on the German word allein ("alone") - the phrase in German therefore being "remain alone." His new band exchanged the psychedelic sounds of The 13th Floor Elevators for a more hard rock sound that featured lyrics on old horror film and science fiction themes. "Two Headed Dog (Red Temple Prayer)" (produced by The Sir Douglas Quintet's Doug Sahm and inspired by Vladimir Demikhov's 1950s head transplant experiments) was released as a single.

This gives Me a whole new respect for the Foo Fighters . Sure : I still think Rolling Stone has wasted wayyy too much paper on their hum drum mugs and mundane musings ; coat tail hangers extraordinaire ; side saddle sack riders that they are ... but : These frail fragments of what once was a greater movement or motive : Have done good this one time . I’ll leave it at that .
