This movie had a great trailer. The Spy Who Shagged Me came out in 1999 a short time after Star Wars, Episode 1: The Phantom Menace and the initial trailer for this made you think it was a trailer for The Phantom Menace. Intresting note on this, when the movie was being made, Volkswagen did not have a convertible beetle. The producers of the film had the effects department cut off the top of the car, and install a soft top. Volkswagen was uncomfortable about having their car being featured with features that didn't exist, however, after the popularity of the film, and request for a convertible, they rolled out a production line of convertible beetles. Also, the Doctor Evil hitting #2 with the globe, and taunting him, was a reference to the movie, "The Great Santini", about a United States Marine, F4-Phantom II pilot, and his family.

I still say "Oh my gentle Jesus" to this day. I believe Mini-Me was a reference to the Island of Dr. Moreau wherein Marlin Brando was accompanied by a very tiny man in all of his scenes.

Yes, Rob Lowe was in Parks and Rec as well as the TV series, The West Wing (which you should watch, but not for your show.) he was also in a ton of 80s films.

That would be a good one for her to watch. THE GREAT SANTINI (1979), with Robert Duvall. Outstanding performance.

The German title of this flick was something like "Spy in secret missionary position" and i still remember watching the teaser for it at the premiere of "Star Wars - Episode One" back in 1999 :) fast forward 2 years or so and this movie was one of my first DVDs. It even included the Musicvideo "Beautiful Stranger" by Madonna. I watched this movie so many times but nothing beats the first time i watched it. I got my DVD a few days after i watched the first Austin Powers movie on TV during Easter Holidays in 2001. Money well spent. I still have it in my collection and always smile when i see Burt Bacharach's and Elvis Costello's cameo.

To this day whenever I see a movie character take a beating or I'm fighting a tough boss in a video game I will say "Why won't you die?!". In an Austin Powers voice too. Man I love this movie.

Back in the olden days, the first 007 parodies were made by Dean Martin as Matt Helm. 4 movies were made between 1966-68: "The Silencers", "Murders' Row", " The Ambushers", The Wrecking Crew". I thought they were a laugh riot, but I was 9 when the first one came out, and what did I know. Keep your ears open for a familiar ring tone.
