Removing the Cylinder Block
I have been informed, that in order to eliminate any possibility of damaging to the pistons, it's best to lift the head straight up and not as I did.

Ever considered putting a twin cam head on it from a Sports bike? If anyone’s building a hot rod with an Austin 7, I’d love to see someone stick one of those on the original flathead.

By molasses - you mean actual molasses?

James W Animal feed that you dilute using tap water Need to experiment, but anything between 5:1 to 10:1 works. Dunk the item onto the mix and leave it, but do stir regularly. Take out and rinse to check regularly as well, but it could take weeks depending in size of part and level of rust. Throw used molasses onto flower beds etc as it’s a good fertiliser
