Inside the house redo looks great, however, the front yard lost its identity when the big tree was cut down and the tree on the front left corner of the house. The corner one could have been left even if the beautiful big one was compromised.

Agreed, I'm on board with the interior but these flippers destroyed the landscaping. It was established and beautiful, no need to remove living plants that look nice.

@@NCHCLW Most flippers lose the neighborhood identity of an older house when they take out the old established trees and shrubs, I literally cringe when they do that. Tells me they may have inside taste, but definitely not outside taste, even with the back yards. So very plain and blah.

The problem is when people plant trees down in the south west they choose trees that don’t do well in the elements down here. To keep an old tree in our front yard we have to baby it. We planted 3 more trees and only native to the area. Our neighborhood has lost many trees due to the drought ☹️.

They literally said the tree didn’t make it through a bad storm lol. What did you want them to do? Keep a damaged tree in the front yard? 😂
@jory6795
@jory6795 Жыл бұрын
Agree. The front yard doesn’t look good. It was lush and green before and now it looks dingy. They should have at least made some flower beds and planted some proper plants since they removed everything. That large tree should have been replaced by another tree. They just put some rocks in the spot the tree used to be? Odd.

They would have had to spend money and time on these projects and its so cool and different. I hope they are still expressing their fun artistic sides wherever they are today!!! y'all are the only youtube channel I've watched EVERY SINGLE upload of over the years. I love the attention to detail from the original owners, if I walked into that house I would've spent some time admiring it and asking questions haha. But I love how breathable y'all made it in the end. It became so much more approachable to any type of buyer. That kitchen/open concept in the main areas would sell me. ALSO THE PECAN TREE! Sad to see all the art go, but now it's a clean template for some new, happy owners :) Those Castlery pieces are fantastic, too, it turned out to feel like a perfect balance of modern mixed with Scandinavian to me, which is my favorite type of decor

The natural colour rock walls in the bathroom and living room were good features, and fireplace and the bamboo tiles at entry were nice too, but the rest a bit eghhh… nice ash cupboards and floorboards but losing the bath - the ensuite nope. You could’ve just toned down the bath to a normal tub and tidied up the lines on the natural earthy toned stone, changed fixtures, cabinetry an d mirrors.. and neutral paint. And left the front garden.

Nice flip. Really beautiful overall. The tile in the kitchen would have looked more modern in a vertical stack instead of a brick stack. Also, should have been run to the ceiling to look more high end. Same with the master bathroom; black tile should have been run to the ceiling. Also, that jute rug id beautiful but laughably too small for the space. So tiny. Otherwise, very gorgeous flip.

When I saw the brick fireplace, I said to myself "God, I hope they don't paint over that brick!!!" and what did they do? Paint over the brick! Stop painting brick, guys! It's mid-century and super low-maintenance and beautiful. When you pain brick you suddenly make it high-maintenance i.e. you have to worry about repainting it every few years. Brick is beautiful!! Why do you keep painting over it? You make me cry!!! Also, I always wonder why you say you want the places to appeal to the most people but then you paint them such taste-specific colors. Just keep everything white - no one wants your weird green walls. Other than that, though, this was definitely an improvement over all the strange tile choices.

Normally I love 'before' & " after" house do-s, but I really liked a lot of the house 'before' and found myself wishing you would express your professional intentions WITHOUT bashing the previous owners. That being said, would you make this more educational and less emo? Like, explain just what it is about the tiled entry that you dislike-- too echoey for a nice quiet entrance? Too much upkeep? What exactly did you dislike? And saying "because it's so ollllllllllld" isn't reason. The Taj mahal is old but you don't trash that, do you??? Okay. So if the guiding principle is being violated, say so; if you want a front yard that can host a badminton game and picnic, & the tree has to go, say so. If you want a front entry with places for shoes, coats, umbrellas, etc then say so..

Nicely livable space however the green needn't have been so bold as it doesn't enhance the lighter woods. The pupil opens wider to accommodate the darkness of the color. Windows can begin to glare as shown in the camera lens and subtle woods get lost in contrast. Perhaps going up on the shade a few steps and warming it ever so slightly with ochre would have connected to the woods while still contrasting the space. Test colors on white walls, testing on dark walls can make your test seem lighter than they are. Saves a lot of time and money from having to repaint.

I feel the previous owner’s taste still has some interesting point, they might just overdid it. Those shell sink, bamboo tiles and mosaic tiles are really artistic and unique! So if you can find a way to keep and reuse those slate, stones and other materials, it would be more meaningful as a house flipper show you know, and the capability of improving the house instead of totally redesign it would be a much more attractive sell point. Not all people have this money to totally redo the interior design. Reusing and improving on the existing base needs more talents.

The uneven distribution of wealth in the US has gotten WAY out of hand. Part of the problem is the greedy & underhanded practice of "house flipping". This is one of the reasons many hard-working Americans are precluded from being able to afford their own home. The only fair & equitable way for the Government to 'repair' home ownership & make it more attainable, would be to put a limit on how many residential properties that one person can own, at any one time. The limit should be two. Ideally this would allow individual owners to have a home & vacation property. The capitalistic idea of buying properties at a low price, fixing them up, then gouging home buyers by selling them at an inflated amount$. House Flippers are also notorious for taking advantage of distressed homeowners who HAVE to sell or were unable to keep up on their home maintenance. Granted there may be some actual work done by the "flipper", but for all intense & purposes, it a case of obtaining money without actually earning it. This is not fair to working-class people, especially if they are on a fixed income. Everyone should be able to attain the quintessential "American Dream". Another way to put it would be to say we ALL deserve a piece of the "pie", but NOT more than two slices.

I thought some parts of the original house were kind of cool. It looked a little bland after you renovated it, but I understand it has to please the most people. After someone buys it they can add some color and personality. Don't get me wrong. I did like the renovation. Sort of. I was just sad to see some of that art go.

@@Snow-xd4rv Well…not really - they did do their job to attract a broader clientele so they achieved their goal. I like my personalized house, individually decorated, but that wouldn’t sell it, I guess. So it’s more like: sad, but necessary in order to make a profit.

It would be nice to donate a home like that to a family in need. Doing better in design would be the last of their worries. There is just way too much egotists in these designers. Their attitude is judgmental. Viewing the old home design before the upgrade was terrible. When I watch other home designers, they at least choose their words wisely, professionally, without having to mock the previous home owners designing. It is nice to upgrade or rebuild, but it’s better to keep from talking so much if you don’t know how to conduct your content.

Unfortunately, you two have shown your adolescent snarky side in broad relief. Not everyone enjoys listening to you rip and tear apart a unique home like this. It does not reflect well on you and is certainly unprofessional. I've seen more than one unfortunate video that where know it alls tore out unique but not "trending" features to replace them with budget lackluster budget "upgrades." Not sure if I can continue watching this video as it reminds me of a high school conversation by the mean girls thirty years ago. You might want to consider saving this sort of revaluation of your darker sides for off screen.

Never saw tile on a wall? Bathroom? I like the bamboo tile. I'd rather see tile than wood paneling. It now looks like every other redo online..subway tiles, accent walls, grey no character furniture, no architectural detail bed....b-o-r-i-n-g!

@@rubyredjeans The outside fit suburbia. The inside fit the personality of the owners. I loved it. I don't think it was mismatched at all. Their furnishings probably tied it all together. I was surprised they didn't rock over that 1980's brick fireplace, though. That DEFINITELY needed slate/rock overlaid.

@@lauraaustin3250 agree the previous owners spent time on the artistic tiling of the shower walls. They may have went a little overboard with tile/slate. I can’t believe they didn’t remove the tile so it could have been repurposed. I could see making a water feature in the yard with all the slate and stone. Houses today are being all made to be similar open, neutral colors and as they said boring, as they said. Homes used to represent the owners by design and decor. They were comfortable and looked lived in. Now they are clean spaces more for show than living. Not my style. Everyone has their own idea of a beautiful home to ridicule them is wrong, it is a representation of who they are. Mocking the home is making fun of the owner.

I would not have painted the fireplace. The brick was really nice. It matched the exterior brick and it would have gone nicely with the cabinetry. Now everytime new owners have a fire, they will have to worry about smoking up the white. Just say no to painting brick or stone.
