It's a sad thing to hear about this drastic change. You have done so well filming this wonderful line and getting to know everyone. You have actually taught me a bit about rail fanning/chasing these past few months. Did anyone else almost shed a tear while reading the description? No matter what, I will remain here to see what the future brings for you and this channel. Awesome of them to give you the final SAAHC. Great run!!!!!!

You did a good job documenting the last one. Hopefully they'll re-vamp it again in the future, the did the same thing here with the Dismal Creek Branch. It stayed dormant for 3 months then they started sending empties in that way again. Look forward to your future uploads, both truck and train!

AW dude that really sucks. I completely understand what u are going through since the CSX line i live on praticly went through the same thing yours did when E. Hunter Harrison came to run CSX as their CEO. Best of luck on your future railfaning, if u do keep with it, and your truck spotting!

Hi Austin. Sorry to hear the drastic reduction in train movement near you. You have done some fine documentation of the different trains and routes, and even collisions. Hopefully traffic will come back. Until then, on with the truck spotting!!! :)

I've been listening to the NS train crews a lot lately here in Scranton. I get the feeling that they're not liking the new system. I've heard them complaining about the DL not giving them enough room on the Steamtown tracks to get the trains in there. I'm guessing that will get worse once the Steamtown excursions start back up in the spring. They also have to split the trains apart at certain spots when they tie down because of the University of Scranton has a couple of crossovers for the students. The other night, I heard them saying they had a bunch of cars in the train that weren't supposed to be there. It's sound like a cluster at times, but I'm sure they'll get it figured out.

You should film the NS local on the Cement Secondary. That’s in your area. Also keep making truck videos before the Autonomous trucks take over. Keep making videos because someone will find a way to ruin everything and videos and memories will be all we have.

What can I say. It's very sad! Back in 2013-14 My friend who is elderly moved out to Belvidere NJ. In his first and part of his second year there we would head out to Portland.And more often than not H76 would be at or near Slateford Junction and we would like you see various types of power doing interchange with the DL. Though we never did see DLpower come to pick up the loads. So what we would do is chase H-76 from Slateford to Portland. Only problem is that my friend had to be back at the assisted living facility by 5p.m. So we weren't able to chase it very far. We did see it at the first grade crossing off of 611 one time. I would've loved to chase that train all the way to Martin's Creek. But when your responsible for your friend to be back at 5 theirs not much you can do. Now he lives in a nursing home in Columbia NJ just across the Delaware river from Portland. And since November of 2015 I've been living in South Carolina with my brother. But I am so glad you covered the Bangor and Portland so brilliantly over the year's! Whatever you do don't give up on railfanning! Back in early Conrail day's they took away the Erie Lackawanna! And rerouted mostly everything onto the corridor. Then onto the ex Lehigh Valley and the former Reading! Denville jct.was only about 4 miles from our house and during the warmer month's we would go there to watch train's on Friday evening's back in the mid to late 70s. So I most definitely know how you feel!

Less freight = more excursion potential. It's not like there's excursion trains running out of Scranton or anything, right? This line would be perfect. It's well maintained and I could see some SNHX equipment on there. Maybe some of the steam equipment. Who knows?

The end of an era. It's ashame to see a childhood railroad. I always saw the Norfolk Southern Coal Trains as a kid going to school. The Portland Secondary started my fascination with railroads. The future of the Pocono Main is very good as NJ Transit's Lackawanna cutoff is nearing completion by 2020. Is it the end of trains in the Poconos? Absolutely not. It actually may see its former beauty of passenger trains on a daily basis. I'm not entirely upset because very soon, Passenger trains in the Poconos will become a norm again of the Poconos.
@AustinTrainsOfficial6 жыл бұрын
Although I agree with NJ pushing to bring commuter trains to the Poconos, I don’t think the cutoff is in any shape good enough for travel yet. Not even close by 2020. They’ll have to get permission from every homeowner along Slateford rd to agree to put the rails back in, as the RR bed is now in their yards. Unless that is, you have reliable information! If you have that from a good source I would love to give it a look myself. I too would love to see some passenger based action on these historic rails. I just don’t think it’ll happen in this lifetime. I haven’t seen any crews or bridge surveyors out at that cutoff in years. Still it would be a marvel to make it active again!

That is the same thing that happened to me. The train line that I filmed was super super busy then I started hearing rumors that they were shutting the line down and boom 2 months ago the line shut down now all the trains go on a main line 45 miles away. It turns out they shut the line down because of a lawsuit to the railroad.
