What a great day. Honestly, I'm just fully and 100% hyped about this. We got him. We got our franchise center that will be the cornerstone of building this team up. Utterly awesome. There's nothing negative I can say about this. I don't care how the rest of the first round turned out, we got the guy we needed. Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Rielly. I'm loving it. And yeah I love that Nylander went to Buffalo. Just building up that rivalry. We'll both be teams building up at the right time with some interesting individual stories. So awesome. Did I mention this was awesome? Franchise center!

I'm honestly more excited to see what Laine does this season. Matthews is a much safer pick, I see him as a consistent player that has a predictable arch to his career. Similar maybe to Jamie Benn, but Laine is a real odd-ball on an already odd-ball team. Laine could be a fantastic player, or a GM's nightmare. Laine reminds me of Jagr alot, just the way he plays and his personality.
