@@AlloffroadAu Well, we think your videos are wonderful and they really convey the love you have for the bush. My wife and I have been 4WD camping with our kids since they were born and they too have a deep love and respect for our natural world. A few years ago we camped at Talbotville and did a lot of exploring in the area, learning the history as we did so (Wanangatta Station etc.). Now we're keen to check out Mitchell's track! Thank you for the huge effort you go to and cheers from Sydney - David and family

Great episode Stefan. My GreatGrandmother used to travel int Mitchell’s Flat via the bridal path from Jamieson to spend time with the Hoskins. She was from Jamieson and had a farm on the Jamieson Licola road. It was in the family for over 150 years. My Nanna was was also born in Jamieson. I fond have memories of the Mitchell’s Homestead. There was also another gut located there but has since long gone. I could t tell you how many times I have been into Mitchell’s. In the early mid 80s we even took an extra lid hiace van in there....I was way to you g to drive then. We were loaded up with our family and the cousins. Thanks for a great episode and I’ll definitely be watching the next part. Cheers Richard.

I have found if you have 2 mapping apps open (mud maps and Exploroz for eg) and operating at the same time on the same device they will fight to use the GPS which will cause one app to shut down or freeze up. not to mention how many apps we have running in the background will also add to the issues. Look forward to your next vid.
@AlloffroadAu
@AlloffroadAu Жыл бұрын
hm I’m using two or sometimes more mapping apps for years at the same time and hardly ever had an issue. When testing, I sometimes track and recorded 4 apps at the same time to compare accuracy, again hardly ever an issue. That's on iOS and iPhone, and iPad. Used for years Hema 4x4 and Mud Maps to record tracks at the same time also mostly without issues.

Hi I hope you don't mind me asking a couple of questions as adventurers like yourself I think are the best to ask. Firstly what type of drone do you have the other is what program do you use to edit your filming. Really enjoy watching your trips. Andrew

I have a few Drones so have other people in the group. From Mavic Air, Mini to Mavic Classic 3. I use Final Cut Pro to edit but probably switch soon to Davinci Resolve

Curious, Stefan, are you sponsored by Memory Maps at all? Great video, just came back from that area myself.
@AlloffroadAu
@AlloffroadAu Жыл бұрын
please watch the MemoryMaps review it has a full disclosure, MM hired me last year as a consultant to improve the unreleased MMFA version and paid me on a hourly base for my work. They also provided me a referral link same as EOT, Avenza, GAIA and others so I get a small kickback if you purchase trough the link. I otherwise have no relationship with MM and they have never paid me for a review or content. MM maps has always been one of my favourite apps which I use for 10 years or so. Given MM for all has quite a few features I suggested I obviously do like it but will report and treat it exactly the same as any other GPS app.
@silknfeathers
@silknfeathers Жыл бұрын
@@AlloffroadAu Thanks Stefan. I ask because I'm currently running EoTopo. I've had a few minor issues, but would like to look into MM.
@AlloffroadAu
@AlloffroadAu Жыл бұрын
yep I initially really liked EOT hence the good review at the time, however over the past year I had a to many issues with EOT so while I still like the maps the application has been to buggy, unstable and cumbersome for me to continue to recommend it as a main navigation app. I still like to use it for reference purposes though. MemoryMaps for all is free but you can get a 10% discount for the Hema Map Pack if you use this link w2.memory-map.com/cgi-bin/licuser.cgi?buy_e_package=1&package=3000074&adref=3001

Hello - we were notified by one of our app users to this video today and wanted to provide this clarification. We acknowledge that Stefan has posted his own experience here but for sake of clarity there was an issue that could have been resolved at the time (whilst offline, in the middle of nowhere) if he'd done either of these 2 things. Both can be done whilst offline in the middle of the bush. Simply:- 1. close the app and reopen OR 2. turn off the Wifi connection This bug that caused it has since been resolved in the latest version and at the time was isolated to iOS devices only, and only when the device had the setting on to allow a Wifi connection, but then if you'd gone offline and shut the app, the next time you opened the app AND was still OFFline, the white screen would appear as Stefan shows, but step 1 (close the app and reopen) would reset it. Whilst not ideal, most people should know that weird stuff always happens on any app/on any device and the first thing to do is always just quickly shut your app and restart. People do it all the time instinctively. This bug occurred out of the blue a few weeks ago and was due to an iOS update that hadn't been an issue in the app previously. As soon as we knew, we wrote the fix and that has been put into the v8 new release already which is now available (actually, only Playstore and Windows have approved/released it, it is awaiting store approval from Apple as I type so is just a matter of hours away from approval). You will note this fix is mentioned in the release notes for v8. See www.exploroz.com/traveller
@AlloffroadAu
@AlloffroadAu Жыл бұрын
@ExplorOz That is simply not true; the app was completely closed numerous times, the iPad was restarted numerous times, the iPad was put in aeroplane mode several times, and none of it brought EOT back. This is also not the first time this has happened the last time it happened was Christmas on our summer trip when at Hawksnest, with reasonable phone reception, EOT stopped working for two days, and no maps would load. By now, I have a year's worth of videos of all sorts of issues with EOT. It, unfortunately, is not software I can rely on.
