Elizabeth and Seth, I have been a faithful watcher of all your videos starting years ago when you set out on "Honeymoon". I contribute when I can, but being 65 and not in good health and not be able to get back to America I have to count my pennies. One of the funniest episodes from the "Honeymoon" days was when Elizabeth found out that there was heat on the boat after freezing leaving the USA going to the Caribbean. I know you could have rung his neck. I was so delighted to see after all these years that you brought your family. There is no better learning experience for them than this. Life lessons, new places, new cultures, new experiences, bonding with each other more and with others. Absolutely wonderful. I just finished this episode, and the faces on the boys sandboarding. All I have to say is you both I know are very proud of them, you have a wonderful family. Count your blessings everyday. Much love from Switzerland. Mathew

All 3 boys are such special little characters. I bet Rhys had everybody in hospital wrapped around his little finger and had everybody seeing to his every need no matter how small. And young Hale. Isn't he growing into someone who's going to break a number of hearts as he grows up. Such a beautiful family, all 5 of you. It's great having you arrive here, in Australia. Keep safe guys, and keep extra well. While you're in Sydney take not of Fort Denison just by the Opera House. This site has the longest tidal scale history of anywhere in the Southern Hemisphere. You'll note, for the last 120 years plus, there has been absolutely no acceleration of sea level heights over that time.

Swim between the flags is the safest place on the beach to swim. Lots of rips either side of the flags generally. It also helps the lifesavers watch over one area of beach.

Hi Seth, you might be already aware but most river entrances have "bar cams" that you can log into and see the bar conditions from a different angle... plus the VMR (volunteer marine rescue crews) are a wealth of information and some stations regularly pilot vessels through the safest channel. Cheers guys.

To begin; Let me say I pray for Rhys to have a complete recovery. You didn't say why he had surgery, but he seems to be in good spirits. I saw thumb and fingers in the two boys' mouths. Papa said it helps with sea sickness, so I learned something new thanks to your family. I get car sick when travelling, maybe I can try it next time we fo to see relatives in another state. Next; I don't want to offend Hale or Rhys, but Pierce's expressions are amazing. He looks like he is the family daredevil. In this video, Rhys' butt dance was funny, sorry, but it was - - I watched the lice videos. I had lice once. I got tired of the lice treatments and decided to get a buzz haircut. No more lice!! - - Okay, one last thing. I can't find any new videos from your family. Did you quit making them and are you now a grounded family. My mistake, one last question. When the boys got into trouble, how did you ground them? They live on a boat. I like your videos a lot. Papa said Archer is a beautiful boat.

In Australia at the beaches, everyone swims in between the red and yellow flags because that is where the surf lifesavers can monitor people in a small area. The flags can change position throughout the day depending on where the rips (currents) are.
@Sandgalah3 жыл бұрын
I avoid the flags - It is best to swim in between the flags if you are not a strong swimmer or are unfamiliar with rips and ocean behaviour. This area is a tourist location so it's busy with helicopters and various safety and surveillance devices. Get outta there! Enjoy our beautiful country.
@Naapeajaea3 жыл бұрын
Yeh, as mentioned. The flags are only there for the surf illiterate, I don’t mean that in any derogatory way, but many locals especially if your a regular are well aware of how to spot rips and what to do if caught in one. Believe it or not, there are many tourists who regularly get caught in them and find themselves a long way off shore. They could of just been doing training exercises in the chopper.

All Aussies will tell you, "Swim between the flags" WHY? Every morning an experienced lifeguard will check the water for dangerous spots. He/She will put the flags in the safest place & then stay there all day watching out for you & your children. This is a free service. Again you will ask "WHY?" No everyone who comes to the beach is a good swimmer, you of all people know, never turn your back on the sea because it can bite you. You just need to follow the safety advice & enjoy your day.

Great job Seth! Certainly by now you'll have those pesky east coast river bars sorted out. Most of them have a bar right out in front, so you have to come in from the side. A front on entry might be the most challenging. Yes we have a curious beach culture, but that's for everyone's safety. Swim between the flags. Life guards cannot patrol the full length of the beach, so they choose the safest area and put the flags there. You were lucky to find the Snapper to Kirra wave working - must have been some big swell on the day. Did you get to feed the rainbow lorikeets at the Curumbin Wildlife Park? Cheers mate

So South African beaches (At least in Durban, where I grew up) are the same in how they partition the areas where you can swim. It's down to how many lifeguards are available to watch and their response time, as well as rip tides and surf conditions. Though I believe surfers aren't restricted to these zones. Jut swimmers. And kudos on Ace Ventura!

Yeah, when I was in Australia (pre-drone days; 89-90) I was told the helicopters are on the lookout for sharks as they're easier to spot from above. You look at the fatalities from sharks every year and it's a heck of a lot worse than Canada. I think Canada has had 3 shark fatalities since something like 1843 ... that's what you get in a "good" month in Oz!

As you can see some of our beaches are massive and may have several surf live saving clubs along them, so they have patrol areas (swim between the flags) this is an area demed safe by the club and it is patroled with life savers. The danger signs are there as our RIPS are very strong and will suck you out to sea very quicky it will be a great leason to teach your kids what to look out for RIPS as you will evebtually be swimming on beaches that are NOT patroled . Enjoy Aus
