The mudcake problems go even deeper, they used to make them instore for that low low price. Now they come in frozen and they still marked it up despite no longer being made fresh in store (I used to make them, it was actually kind of fun and I look upon the frozen monstrosities with scorn).

@@ChristopherT-j1m I just did the icing during my stint but to make that you get some (unsweetened liquid) cream, heat it up till you see bubbles but not so much its fully boiling and stir in scoops of cooking chocolate till its thick and shiny, not putting too much in at once to avoid lumps (stir pretty much constantly - if it ever smells bad start again, youve burned it). I mostly went off consistency since the lil burner stove was inconsistent and I was always making different amounts- add more chocolate if its too thin. White chocolate squiggle you boil some water, sit a metal bowl over it and get the steam to heat it and put however much white chocolate in there seems like a good idea, once its enough of a liquid get it into a piping bag asap, that stuff burns easily (at least the stuff we were given did anyway). To get the icing on the cake we'd grab the ready made cake, often frozen so they dont squish in your grip (not the same as the fully frozen ones that exist now that go right on the shelf) and dunk the top half in the big pot of icing. Finish with an artsy white chocolate squiggle from the prepared piping bag. Try not to cut yourself on or dent the old octagonal style of plastic packaging if you want the authentic staff experience. I'm sure theres better cake recipies out there than the one used for the base woolies cake, the company tends to cheap out on ingredients. The flour, cheese and chocolate available for purchase instore for example is of higher quality than that used on the goods baked on site (nowdays anyway, before all the cost cutting in the last decade it was pretty good overall).
