Winston is beautiful and so smart! You are a wonderful dog Dad! IMO Aussies are the most intelligent breed there is. They are great guard dogs too, very protective of their ppl and their house. We lost our Aussie of 10 yrs this past Monday (cancer). We are devastated. It happened so fast. His name was Joey and one of the greatest joys in our lives. Aussies are different because they are so smart and extremely loyal. They truly become a family member. Thank you for this video. It’s been fun to watch. I love the bond you and Winston have already formed. Winston will always be your biggest fan and best Buddy. Thanks again. Best wishes to you and Winston!

Ok we got lucky with our Aussie and the crate. Had him in it all night from day one. He whimpered a bit but was able to settle down. I had him right beside me at eye level so he could see me. Now he goes into it at night on his own and will be there from 10p to 8a!

Wow that's incredible! If we ever get a second, we'll buy a crate where we can put it at eye level. It seems like that really helped

Hello my friend! This channel is absolutely amazing, and I just became an aussie dad. There are so many things that I didn't know before getting her and it's very relieving to watch your journey. She is CRAZY right now but I'm reassured seeing how well trained WInston is 10 months later :) Can I ask you how old Winston was in this in video? I was also curious about the timing for your schedule! - I won't bore you with the current schedule, but if you have time would love to hear your schedule
@winstontheaussieshep Жыл бұрын
Congratulations and thank you! He must have been around 3 months here. To be honest I can't remember his schedule here it was so long ago lol. But I know it revolved around me waking up early to fulfill his needs. Then I would work. On my breaks I would play, feed, and train him. Then he would go to sleep around 8 or 9.

hello! just found your channel! Update on the herring oil? do you still use it? does it really help?? :) thank you!
@winstontheaussieshep Жыл бұрын
Hi! I feed a raw diet now but I still use the herring oil. I'd say the raw diet plus herring oil provided way more of a change than just herring oil and kibble. Hope this helps 😁

hi! just got my Aussie , if a may asked what type of raw does he eat? my 14 weeks Aussie doesn't seem to eat his kibbles a lot. and if I may ask what is that extra added on the food? @@winstontheaussieshep
@winstontheaussieshep Жыл бұрын
@marylorenzo6253 Big Country Raw. It's an already balanced food so you don't have to add anything unless if there is no source of omega 3 (fish) then you should add some oil to it. Occasionally I'll add in some pro biotic, pumpkin, and joint supplements but again it's already balanced and it just bonus additives

I’m getting my first doggo. I have a lot of time on my hands after my work day. I’m gonna get a mini Aussie. My family has had aussies everytime we’ve had dogs. I want to get my first dog and it’s gonna be an Aussie. But Since these dogs love to play around. I work away from home so I’d be leaving the puppy at home. He’d have another dog to hangout with and also my mom who will kindly take care of the dog for when I’m not home. When I get home I’ll spend whatever time I have training my dog and caring for him as I want him to see me as the leader and me as his parent right. Is this a good idea (I feel like I am up for it and am ready to spend the time and work when I’m home from work and weekends are endless time for the dog) but I’d love another opinion.

The puppy stage will be the hardest. As long as they are getting enough exercise, exposure, and socialization, I think it can work.

@@winstontheaussieshep you mention giving him pineapple juice to avoid him eating poop my aussie also 3 month and eat poop do. Do u mind sharing what pineapple juice(brand) u give him
@winstontheaussieshep2 жыл бұрын
Oasis. This trick worked for a few weeks but eventually, every now and then he would eat his poo. What really worked was in combination of using the pineapple juice we would lure him away with a high value treat right before he would try and eat his poo. Make sure while he's eating the treat pick up the poo so there's no temptations. Hope this helps!
