I was playing this mod recently and if you select the focus to re arm too soon on the game there's a chance that Czechoslovakia attacks you and beat you up, since it's early game you have basically no divisions as Austria, it was frustrating seeing the Czechs just walking into my country with barely any resistance.

One has to wonder why either the Austrians OR the Hungarians kept playing along with the entire idea for as long as they did. I know countries are loathe to give up any territory beyond any rational sanity or sense but you had two halves of a country that openly hated each other and were rooting for the union to fail so they could stop dealing with each other

Basically we had the same monarchs and we also lost the 1848 revolution. As a side note most of the people living in Hungary at the time and today were moved to the country by the Habsburgs so we were all mostly the same people, sure they were hated by some but i doubt everyone hated them equally and having a minority try to dictate everyone what they should think has its difficulties and it's silly to begin with. Nowadays nationalists see people like the Ragged Guards as some sorts of heroes but when you realize their activity was aimed at keeping majority German territories which were originally always German that sort ultranationalistic bs. logic quickly falls apart and that was the main reason we wanted to leave though sure the Monarchy had its very real flaws, like being dragged to pointless wars all the time. On the other hand the Habsburgs of the 1700-s and 1800-s were very pragmatic rulers as well but it's easy to see those wars weren't exactly something everyone would have went to joyfully and there were cases when they didn't, those people got killed. But at that point House Árpád and the Habsburgs or an offshoot of Habsburgs were intermarried and one and the same so it's not like anyone could have just overthrown them as they were the only possible legitimate rulers. Unless you disregard other houses with more dubious claims and probably little connections to the original Árpád dynasty which is inarguably the most prestigious bloodline in Hungary.
