this is like someone mixing a bowl of the most crispy iceberg lettuce, with english mustard dressing, in a thick walnut wooden bowl, with light springy tinfoil shimmering ontop.

I feel a lot of fans glossed over Exai only a few times, it's an album that takes a few more listens than an Autechre work typically does; but oh boy does it pay off, it's easily my favourite album of theirs

This one got me right away. Most of their stuff from this century on the other hand is quite difficult for me to get into...

+r.j. jackson hi i'm anybody! Anybody would give these guys the nobel prize in physics for discovering the final purpose of sound and it's emotional connections to humans. complexity has never sounded so well motivated.

fuck. from 4:10 to end is sooo groovy. so purely evocative.. so tight. absolutely evolved effects chains. the bass growling its way out of the murk. the high freqs from the shifting sample rate distortion taunting me like a DMT bird

AE just keep getting better and better for me. I'm truly thankful. It really doesn't bother me what other people think, but i can see how that comment would piss u off :)

I think Autechre should be the judge on what is Autechre and what isn't! Exai sounds like a return to form to me

It's funny that Exai imo is one of ae's more accessible records to date.
@MTheoOA5 жыл бұрын
really? yesterday and today i passed listening again the album and i think is one of the most complete albums, but not accessible. It's like to say One Size Fits All from Zappa is the most accessible only because is one of the best albums (IMO the funniest because of the complex compositions), understand me? I think its not bro, they have a lot of his story of identity inside this album, thing they constructed after a long discography

This sounds a bit like 'old' Autechre to me. There's more a emphasis on sharp rhythms, like much of the earlier stuff.

(sorry for bad english) I HAD the same problem. I didn't like the Gantz Graf or Confield. But I liked earlier works, Incunabula and Amber. Start from the beginning, then, add to your personal "have" playlist another 2-3 tracks. This music even affects your personality. I did change massively, when I heard Pen Expers, which is for me, the best, incredibly strong, tear tearing 7 minutes ever. Exai, lacks a bit of that "feelings and progression" that Confield, Draft, Untilted and Oversteps had.

I always wondered can this type of music be performed live as it is, or it sounds different everytime you play it.
@augusto76818 жыл бұрын
I wonder the same. I read that they create music and record it in the same time. So I think they can't reproduce what they do.
