I've not seen atypical yet but I've noticed that a lot of young people with autism were getting mad at it while others saying that although it has it's problems they like the series generally and they feel that the characters are relatable.

Absolutely I do find your vlogs very enjoyable always!! Seeing what you get up to in your everyday life, your channel is so real and heart- warming who would not love that!? 😁😊😄💓💕💓 This is rather late as only found this vlog today, and joined in only six months ago=) The show Atypical I think it's a super fun show, as you really get to see autism from that young man's perspective, and anybody who's being barely exposed to asd would learn a lot, and really feel empathy for the character 💖💖 Not that Autism is a burden it's not, or any reason to pity somebody on the spectrum, I just mean they'll learn the many ups and downs of it all, like how he doesn't understand things, that are just second- nature to neurotypicals, and dealing with ignorance, people using that dreaded 'R- word' that short of thing, but also how beautiful and wonderful he is, like we all are on the spectrum 😊❤💙💜 xoxo

Ooh! I watched all the episodes of Atypical the day after it came out! I liked it! Some bits were better than others, but overall I think it's a good show! :D EDIT: What i mean is that as a show it is good, but it doesn't necessarily portray things properly, but I still liked it

Just completed watching Atypical I really enjoyed it and can't wait for season 2. A lot of people are saying it has over stereotyped autism but I don't feel that you can really put a stereotype on autism to be honest, it's to much of a broad spectrum to be able to put it all under one hat! At least it's bringing awareness to mainstream media though✌️ and I think you could refer to us You Tubers as Abby's KZbin surfers 🌊📺🇦🇺 ☺️

Every autistic person I know thats seen it has thought Atypical is either offensive, inaccurate, stereotypical or just generally a bad show. Surprise surprise, no autistic people worked on it. At least they acknowledge that autistic people aren't all asexual, that's cool.
@fatheringautism7 жыл бұрын
+Al Funcoot It’s also TV. I’ve never seen a show or movie depicting something that people face in real life that hasn’t offended someone. We are a society of offended people. This character is “too stereotypical”, Julia from Sesame Street “doesn’t show real autism”... It’s always something. I’d put money on it that you could have an autistic person play an autistic person on a show and people would still find a way to complain about the accuracy in which autistic people are portrayed.
@feliznavidad48467 жыл бұрын
fathering autism has the best videos.

i think all autistic people are different just like all humans. i think atypical was a good show to depict the bases of autism and show another children how and why someone with autism acts a certain way.
@Tintenfischchen7 жыл бұрын
"We are a society of offended people." - Well said, Mr. Maass. A few days ago someone on the internet called me an uneducated racist because I wrote 'coloured people' instead of 'people of colour'. Like... seriously?!? It means exactly the same thing! And guess what... the US is not the only country on this planet. In South Africa, where I'm from, we use 'coloured people' all the time. It's an official term, used in official statistics and in everyday life. Most coloured people I know don't have a problem with the term or are even proud to call themselves 'coloureds'. It's the same thing with 'he/she is autistic' and 'he/she has autism'. Some people get so offended if you say the first one, it's crazy... What happened to 'sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me'?
@amazingautism56447 жыл бұрын
I can't watch Atypical. To much mentions of things my mother says "Her level 3 daughter shouldn't be watching". Like jeez. I watched "Bones" At 8 and and "Criminal Minds" at 10 HOW BAD CAN THE SHOW BE?! I'M 13! Can you tell me how inappropriate the show is?
@fatheringautism7 жыл бұрын
+Missprincess 908 There’s a few cringe moments with Isaiah watching and he’s 15. I would probably agree with your mom. Bones and Criminal minds are on regular cable and rated accordingly.
