14:51 The opposite thing happened to me, I thought I was friends with someone but when I asked if we were friends they said ‘no’. Nothing like getting acquaintance zoned.

9:42 I love how they said it was a phase without dismissing it. Everyone seems to think that because it's "just a phase" it's not important or that it can be disrespected, but they seemed so respectful about it and the usual negative connotation of the word phase wasn't there

About the friendship thing! I have one friend but multiple people I talk to, and I think most of them consider me their friend and it’s very confusing. It was much easier in kindergarten where you became friends by saying: “do you want to be my friend?” And they’ll say yes and everything would be very clear and up front((

Does anyone else do this stim? When I’m wearing long sleeved tops and jumpers i always have them with long arms so my entire hand can be covered while i walk and on the inside of the sleeve i twiddle with the loose threads but overtime I end up ruining it by untangling the threads so it ends up falling apart, I’ve ruined every school uniform cardigan and jumper by doing this daily because i wasn’t diagnosed yet and was masking.

I don't fiddle that much with my sleeves that they fall apart but when I have long sleeves more than half the time I'd say I have my hands bunched up in the sleeves gripping the ends

I do that too!! Since i was tiny i’ve picked threads and blankets as a stim so much that it’s created holes or thin spots in the fabrics. I would also roll the threads around in to a sort of ball and my parents and I call them plushies lol.

5:35 this is why after i lost my pair of loops i decided im just going to by noise cancelling headphones, cause i hate how i can hear myslef walk, they give me headaches cause of the internal noise and im extremely prone to loosing stuff, quite a few of my friends have them too and they love them tho, i would definily reccomend even tho they are kind of pricy

questions for the algorithm: 1. what are your latest hyperfixations? 2. what are some textures you like? 3. what's your current safe food?
@tripwire202
@tripwire202 11 ай бұрын
Piranesi is latest hyperfixation - absolutely love it! I love cool, smooth textures like metal and water, and also warm fuzzy ones. Typically not at the same time though Oh! Forgot to add: current safe food is braeburn apples with cheese and peanut butter. Hopefully these responses will ameliorate and please the algorithm gods.

1) My major hyperfixation is six of crows, and has been for a couple of years now, but I'm also hyperfixating on crochet currently, there are so many patterns i want to make!! 2) I love fluffy textures, though i'm very particular about them haha. also smooth surfaces. less of a texture but i love the feeling of typing on a keyboard. click clack 3) plain rice is an absolute staple for me. or this boneless lemon and garlic chicken i tried recently.

1) I don’t have very intense special interests, but the ones I do have are quite old! I like ISOPODS and mitski! 2) I like so many textures!! Especially smooth things with bumps, like glass statues! 3) i recently discovered pasta with butter and it’s the best thing I ever ate! (Exaggerating)

1) My latest and also oldest hyper fixation is Hilda. I love the show, the movie, the books, everything about it. 2) I love the smooth texture of polished crystals and I always keep one in my pocket or in a necklace. 3) My safe food is kimchi ramen and those trader joe’s takis. (I love spicy food!!)

1. My main special interest is cats, I’m not sure about hyperfixations atm 2. Soft cat fur, fluffy blankets, very smooth things, shaped things for example i have a stacked flower highlighter and i like to feel the shape of it 3. Probably cheesestrings because I’ve gone off toast and some other things recently

With the thing about friends I realized that so many people who I might have considered friends are actually just people who were around me because our shared friends were. I probably have like 1 or 2 friends that ive been neglecting because I went from marching band into like 2 weeks of burnout (thats still continuing but getting better) so I cant interact with them out of like school until I have that fixed or at least more under control

18:29 what is this song? It feels so nice in my ears, and like floaty somehow, but in a good way? I usually hate floaty feelings, as for some reason it usually makes me feel bloated or like my brain is physically too big for my skull, and is therefor unnerving, but this song is like sparkly and floaty in a good way that doesn't feel wrong, and it's like solid somehow I like it /gen /lh ^u^

Oh my gosh, I needed that checklist so badly right now. I've been saying that I'm burnt out, and I've seen and identified some signs, but this kind of checklist is a thing I've been saying I needed for some time. Seriously, thank you so much for including that TikTok. Now, time to continue the sensory self-care that I was making sure to do so I can get out of burnout. 🖤

… research interoceptors. Interoception is the sense that means you know what’s going on in your body! Lots of masking autistics or autistics that grew up masking were taught that their internal reactions to things were irrational, and learnt to ignore their body. This means that a lot of the time, autistic people miss clues on temperature, hunger, thirst, stuff like that. Might not be you, but it’s interesting

Drinking my colonoscopy prep as an autistic person is hellish. The taste and texture make me want to vomit every time it touches my tongue. I'm doing my best but i was on a totally liquid diet yesterday and I'm so upset about it that i had a meltdown. Dunno how to make myself feel better tbh, i don't like that i have to do this once a year forever now. My stomach is too sensitive for the prep they gave me too.

regarding the thanksgiving thing where the mom won't force their kids to do stuff, I wish my mom was as understanding and respectful of my sensitivities and comforts like this. I hate physical touch unless I initiate it, and I hate when some random person in my family, that I don't even know (or even if I do know), decides to hug me or shake my hand. It's overstimulating and I hate it. I also can't stand my food touching or mixing (but there are exception obviously. Too many to explain here tho), and I really would benefit from tray-like plates (kinda like the ones for kids, but either styrofoam or plastic) and it would lessen my stress. Another thing is there's often little kids around and I hate the loud screaming and crying and even the laughing. And all of the adults talking is too much as well because I hear every conversation at once and it's overstimulating. This applies to other holidays and gatherings too, and I always leave the situation at the end of it being VERY overstimulated (which causes irritation and sometimes aggression. My brother gives me the "you need to learn to control your emotions/don't use that as an excuse" thing too and it only makes me madder) and oftentimes nonverbal, but I force myself to talk anyway (feels like I'm pushing through a huge wall to talk tho and it's really exhausting and even more overstimulating). I don't live in a very understanding family when it comes to my autism and it's really frustrating and it makes me feel like my feelings are seen as unimportant, too small to be bothered to care about, and that everyone thinks I'm looking for attention or that I'd watched videos about autism and now I'm acting like I'm autistic. My brother once told me "you only started acting like this when mom told you that she's THINKS you might be autistic". Yeah, because I've done years of research and I'm more aware of myself and my behaviors, so for him to pretty much say I'm faking it, it's really ignorant of him. How does any NT learn ANYTHING?? They don't research (or feel the need to research, which is basically arrogance and saying "I don't need to know more about that/it's not worth my time to understand".) and they don't even try to understand. I seriously don't understand at all. Can anyone relate or at least talk about it with me? I feel really stuck and lonely and misunderstood a lot.

J.KRowling informed everyone in an interview! Also hermione(I can’t spell) almost didn’t get the role! (Just so y’all know J.KRowling is transphobic and racist but that won’t stop me from loving the HP fandom I just don’t like her as a person)Also they almost gave hermione a little sister!
