It's really nice and me and my husband go to pride each year which is always around the 28th of August my birthday in our downtown area and they have a special sensory bus for autistic people and then they have a spare sensory bus from other neurodivergent people it's the bus specifically for autistic people is meant to be a quiet space for anybody who's needs a quiet area. The other one is a sensory area but it's also where you can let off some steam if you have a little too much energy and it's not able to be let out in a festival type environment because you can't run around with crowds. The bus is super cool it even has those really big colored light tube things with bubbles in them. I've always wanted one and that really calms me down along with sitting on the very soft chairs in the bus. My husband takes me to it every year during pride and I feel so relaxed in it. Especially since we are a one income low income disabled household so can't afford all the sensory things I need. Getting to see that helps so much and it allows me to enjoy pride with breaks so I can enjoy it more if I really want to as long as the crowds are gone. Crowds scare me

Sounds good and very interesting but, I have not been diagnosed with Autism yet just ADHD which is nuerodivergence..yes definitely, I cried when I realized and found out with a diagnosis at 60 but, at the same time it was a relief to finally know. I just wish I would have know when I was a single father for 10 years and in nursing school/psych...and martial arts while working. I thought it was just the stress of being a single father.

I LOVE THIS Taylor!!!! It’s just so important for everyone to express themselves for who They are, in a safe space! I just recently found Your channel on one of the “Shorts” out of nowhere, haha! (Really intrigued by Your videos.) I might consider joining one of these groups soon. I’m potentially going to be diagnosed with Mild Autism, or OCD very soon. (I just finished up My testing with My Psychologist recently and now just waiting currently. Although, I have no doubt that I’m not on the Spectrum, since I’ve showed signs I’ve observed over these last couple months a bit more, My Twin Brother Anthony has had it for awhile now, on Social Media-(in-terms of making videos of Elevators) friends from School in the past, and Coworkers I’ve met over this last year.)

I've watched a tonne of your videos over the last few months and I've found them really helpful - thank you. I'd really like to participate in one of the groups but I don't think I'd qualify for a scholarship (and would even feel guilty to apply for one) yet with the cost of living crisis here in the UK, my outgoings seem to be getting greater and greater each month. Kind of feel stuck.

Hi Taylor. My name is Lucy, and I am new to your channel. I am approaching 60 years of age next month, and have suspected that i have many "Spectrum" traits or characteristics which have troubled me for many years. Just from watching your videos, I can almost 100% say that I think I suffer from symptoms of autism. I would love to join one of your help groups, but I am living in Australia and the time difference is tricky with online meetings. Texas is 16 hours behind Brisbane, Australia. Which group or website would you recommend that I can communicate with you or other people on the Spectrum? I feel like I am in a transparent cage, which I can't get out of, and those that don't understand cannot get in either. I have questions, which I hope you or others can help me with. I am so pleased to have found your channel. Thank you Taylor.

Hi Lucy - it’s so nice to be connected with you. I have a group that will be meeting on Wednesdays at 3pm my time which I believe is 7am your time. Would that be a possibility for you? If so you can sign up at MomOnTheSpectrum.life/connect or email me with any questions! Info@momonthespectrum.life

I bought the ear plugs you suggested. So far I don’t notice a thing. I can’t stand certain noises such as someone chewing. They absolutely didn’t do anything when I wore them the other night and someone was chewing annoyingly. I purchased 4 pair total. Now I wish I never purchased them. I’m out of a bit of money.

Bummer! Sorry to hear you didn't have the experience you were looking for. It took me a little while to get used to mine... the difference they make isn't huge, but I didn't want it to drown out all the noise bc I don't like things sounding muffled... It just kind of subdues my environment. Anyways, bummed to hear they weren't what you were wanting!

Running a group is not without cost and Taylor’s expertise in autism and ability to mange a group is also valuable.
@seriousdinosaur
@seriousdinosaur 2 ай бұрын
Both of those statements are true, @@camellia8625. Locking such a community safe space behind a paywall is a questionable practice, considering the increased rates of poverty and comorbid mental health challenges among autistic people. Ms. Heaton's website appears to support multiple income streams across several media, and I am happy for that! I contribute to the tip jar on this channel. Still, asking payment just to show a lost, weary, burnt-out traveler the way to the inn is... not what I expected.

I don't think it's a scam as such. But it doesn't really appeal to me. I'm 51 and I just don't like group dynamics and don't see what random people are gonna do for me. At least, not when I can just find other Autistic people online and discuss things with them. There's no particular expertise present here either.
@feralnonbinaryautistic
@feralnonbinaryautistic Ай бұрын
Yes and yes! Also, no mention of what expertise warrants the charge. How is this different from talking to random people elsewhere online? For example, there's no indication that participants are screened - other than financially. Seems like there's always something to sell on this channel.

Taylor, am I missing something with the name of the video? Is Autistic Connection the name of a group your doing? I really wish this wasn’t a paid thing. It kinda gives me the ick…. I have watched almost all your videos. And I like the person you present on your page! But this whole video felt like an ad. And that was a bit disappointing as I thought you were going to be talking about exploring your space on the spectrum, not a class advertisement. I’m so sorry. I feel so bad for saying this but I like you enough to share my opinion I guess. Idk.

I mean, it is important to remember no service is free. She's managing these groups on her own time, she needs to be able to be compensated to continue running the channel and the support groups (and so many other things she does for the community) full time just like we all need to get paid at our jobs to support ourselves/our families, etc. Compared to the pricing of therapy sessions or doctors visits without insurance, etc, this is pretty reasonable tbh ($25 per session). As a content creator myself and a design freelancer (who regularly gets told I don't need to be paid for my work), it's super important to remember people who provide services are business owners who need and deserve to be paid for their hard work. Just like you would pay a plumber to fix your sink lol. It's great that she's using her platform to connect people, I don't think there's any where else I could go at the moment in my life to connect with other autistic people and I know this would be a HUGE relief in my life right now. I appreciate it, I guess that's how I look at it, I mean it's great that she's even putting out these videos and we can watch for free!
