The front half of the driveshafts are all you need when doing a swap like this, if you put the front half of the manual driveshaft onto the original automatic rear half of the driveshaft it would have fitted without needing modification! All e36s and e46s are like this, for example small case rear ends have a longer driveshaft, so if you pull a manual conversion out of an e36 318 the driveshaft will be too long to fit into a e36 325, but if you put the manual front half of the shaft onto the auto rear half it will be the correct length as the rear half is a certain length to suit what rear end you have.

Too high for motorway cruising. If he fits the correct 2.93 diff to match the manual gearbox it will be around 2700rpm at 70mph.

I’ve performed the same swap on a E46. Very straightforward, did my own wiring for the reverse light to the relay panel under the bonnet. Also did the coding to remove the TCM from the start up roster. Piece of cake. I also made an upgraded shifter linkage from the transmission to the shifter assembly.

Coding out the gear cog is easy. You need to remove a line from vehicle order in INPA. I know because my 330Ci Clubsport was converted to manual and I did it on that. I think it's #250 that has to be deleted. Great to see our E46 lifesaver, Nick Jupp there too. :) Also with my diff (which I think is from an auto) is doing 3,000rpm at 80mph.

i love that the banter on the podcast is making it into regular shop shenanigans. DIFF RATIOS: the smaller number vs 1 means higher top speed, less acceleration. a 2.76 is much higher top speed than 3.73 but is way slower off the line. my stock O2A trans in my vr6 golf is 70mph at about 3k rpm on stock sized tires.

For the love of everything holy, check the Aux Belt Tensioner is the later 3 point mount hydraulic type. The earlier ones were two point mount concentric spring tension, and prone to failing. 750gms of ally lump flailing around the engine bay connected to the drive belt makes an enormous mess of everything. Speaking from experience of my 99 B3 3.3 doing that very thing. The tensioners were often missed on Alpinas because the service bulletins didn't apply to them, only the regular cars.... despite them using the same peripherals. This also allowed the main dealer to deny any responsibility for fitting the older type. Only other B3 3.3 thing to note is that it will eat its rear suspension bushes between services - the 3.3 puts out a lot more than that boggo 328/330 setup can really cope with.

Have done a 6 speed swap here from a E36 M3 cause of a friend offering it up for me NEeded the E46 M3 mounting parts and prop, but a custom spacer was needed to marry it up to the 188k diff.

also make sure you do to the golf tee mod on the stock exhaust or make sure the flap opens easily in the muffler i did that mod to a 323ci and it sounded a bit nicer than with the stuck closed flap ps i jammed a metal rod to unstuck it to permanent open position :) and then put a screw in the vaccum hose for that flap

I own a dual fuel van with the LPG conversion fitted from the factory and couldn’t fault it. Not much difference in performance but much cheaper to run. Definitely worth keeping the installation on the car, run it on the LPG until the tank is empty.

For removing lpg shit. You have to close off a valve that is on the tank in the boot and after that is safe to remove. There will be some residual gas in the lines but its not dangerous, just ventilate the unit and take caution like while.handling gasoline lines.

How to depressurise the LPG system, just find the tank. remove valve cover, close both input and output valves and job done. You will have some gas left over in the tubes apparently so no worries... By the way LPG is great, I wouldn't remove it. It's one of the cleanest energy sources what we have and around 110 octane, it's a shame Britain is in complete ignorance if it's practice. Half of the petrol cars in main land (especially East) Europe are run with it and every other station stocks it, while here lucky if you find one every 50 miles, quite sad to be honest...
