finally, you are checking out a Lexus RX300, I have a 2002 RX300 it has VSC AWD, and is fully loaded, still has a well functioning 6 disc CD changer and premium sound with a Nakamichi cassette deck that still works great, and heated seats, mileage on my car is just over 272,000 miles, it does not leak a drop of oil, I love this car, and they are very smooth drivers.....my first Lexus, its older, and I love it... PS congrats on the new house, super happy for you.

Call me deluded, but I absolutely LOVE those V8 engines (M62B44 specifically). With no cats, that sound is amazing and if you take one to an engine shop to work a lil bulletproofing magic on it, they’re actually not all that bad. It’s just a shame with timing problems. I had one and they are awesome but for Jessica stay away from the 8 cylinders like 4.4 they will run but require maintenance and maintenance is not easy on the engine water pump is bear to replace the 4.4 is prone to timing chain issue and of course the cooling system issues. Also, the front driveshaft spline failure is more common on the 8 cylinders especially if driven hard. but if you can take care of the timing chain and tame the oil leaks they are fun to drive

Randy, great stuff! With regards to the X5, those V8s were notorious for issues (all my BMW techs say so). I would look at an E70 Diesel or 3.0 in the 2010-2013 years. I believe the S (4x2) was introduced in the G series in 2019 with the re-design and current body. I’ve had 4 X5’s: 2012 35d, 2013 35d, 2018 40e, and now a 2021 sDrive. 2014-2018 is the F Body, and probably my most favorite. I loved the X5 40e (lease) the best, acts very similar to your i3, got about 20 miles on plug in electric. While the tech in my 2021 is cool, hands down the F15 is still my favorite.

I can’t believe you bided on the BMW X5. I mean I know your wife like it but that X5 is going to cost some money to fix up. It’s going to take more then a clean up to fix that up. There is nothing wrong with a timing belt engine as long as you to do when it’s time to do it. I have a 2005 Lexus ES 330 with over 200,000 miles and runs like a brand new car because I take care of it and make the timing belt is taking car of when it’s time.
