I agree 100% with you on this video! I had a ping on Friday where the pin took me to the back alley of a warehouse. I hit arrive and within seconds get a call from the passenger. She says I can see where you are on the Uber app but you are too far away for me to walk to. I asked where are you at? She said do you know where "such and such" is? I said sorry, I don't. I asked what's the address of it? She said I don't know. I said "Well I don't know where to go to find you". She responds "well I'm not walking to where you are. You are too far away." .... CANCEL! collected $5. Went offline for a couple minutes to avoid getting pinged by her again. I'm not going to waste my time on wild goose chases.

I've been getting set up all week to drive fares for the first time this weekend and I'm psyched. Thank you Uber Man for teaching me through your super helpful Uber vids. Uber Man I just finished up for the night (sat). So my first weekend driving in a semi slow market that's fairly new for Uber, I made about $190 total for the 2 nights (this is my cut + tips). I worked about 13 hours total which includes idle time and driving 30-40 mins both to and back home from the hot spots. This averages out to about $13 per hour after subtracting gas. I make much more than that at my 9-5, but hell for the weekend where I usually sit on my ass and do nothing this was pretty sweet altogether especially for my first trial run. Had an issue with a customer pinning their pickup location miles away from where they actually were, but you are a good teacher so I knew to cancel the trip after dropping them off then just waybill and need help email to support. They adjusted the fare within 40 mins and all is right. Thanks Uber man I will certainly be doing this as my side gig for a while and I'll continue to support your channel. Uber on people!

Uber Man ... I'm a new driver less than 2 weeks into it ... I plan on driving 3h/day 5 days/wk to at least make enough to offset some of my gas and other car expenses as I drive to and from my other two jobs ... I've watched a number of your videos as well as a number of videos put out by two or three other guys like yourself who are full time professional Uber drivers ... this is by far the best video of yours that I have watched to date ... I have already got a small chip on my shoulder as I bite my lip after tolerating some of the bullshit that I've experienced from riders and I've only done 25 trips ! I live in a very wealthy area where everyone feels entitled and acts like their shit doesn't stink ... when I have work in my given profession, I make between $75. and $250./ hr in my given profession in which I hold PhD ... I make $150k/yr. --- used to make $250k/yr. --- problem is there isn't always work and so I have downtime ... so I sucked it up and jumped through the hoops to become an Uber driver ... I'll say this ... it does allow me the flexibility I need in my schedule ... anyway thanks Uber Man... I've been giving 2 Star assholes 5 stars ... I've been waiting 6...7...8... minutes for people ... I've had people enter 10 Main Street instead of 85 Main Street and then act like it was my fault that they had to wait --- when my GPS says "I've arrived" and "Rider has been notified" and they're not fucking there because they're a 100 yards down the street with 100 people between me and them and I'm supposed to recognize them because they're holding a fucking cell phone ... I'll go watch a KZbin video now on how to cancel ... Thanks again !

Thank you David. I truly appreciate the comment. Too many passengers assume all drivers are nothing more than "bottom-feeders" who should feel thankful they are paying us $2.30 to get down the street. I'm sick of it. I've been sick of it. Many of us are well paid and educated people. It's really sad to see what Uber has become. It didn't used to be this way.

Good advice Randy, thank you. If I don't demand the respect that I've earned through my professionalism, then I will begin to hate myself, I will soon hate my job, and my professionalism will go down the drain because my attitude will suffer. I refuse to let that happen. The good passengers (and I still firmly believe they are the majority despite the rate cuts) deserve my professional best. I was also encouraged by your conversation with corporate in Pasadena. It's good to know we and the company are on the same page concerning this particular issue. Thanks again for what you do on KZbin. As a new driver I needed to hear what you said about commanding respect.

I appreciate your videos. It took me forever to get signed on with uber. Not being able to talk with someone on the phone is frustrating. This service is extremely helpful to the rider and not the driver. I've been driving for a week tomorrow. I was told by a few riders, they added a tip. It didn't seem to show up when reviewing your pay stub/check. This past Friday I got my first tip. A guy asking how it works. I was brutally honest. I told him uber gets $1.oo and 20% from what I understand. I said the frustrating thing is they don't encourage tips, and told him in no am I asking for a tip. To go a week paying gas out of your own pocket is how it works. I dropped him off and he handed me a $20 dollar bill. I was low on gas and told him I wasn't asking for a tip,but he helped me so much.I still haven't worked the 2-3 a.m drunk shifts . What do you do for a tip box?And is that the time to work. I notice rate surges don't last long. It seems to be a ploy to get drivers there and magically it goes back to normal rates.

Yep, you are right! I had one come up last Saturday night and she was rated a 3 star, I declined the ride. At 1:00am that is bullshit I don't want to deal with because you know she is drunk and probably pukes to get that low of a rating in KAnsas City. That was the lowest passenger rating I have ever seen here in Kansas City so I did decline her. Also got a UberXL call from the hood, declined it as well because it was the roughest part of town, cops won't even go there so I am sure as hell not going there with my ride no matter how much they pay. Drivers please be honest, as Randy said you are not helping your fellow drivers out by giving bullshit ratings. If the customers rate you bad you don't typically see them again so make the system work for you as well as them that is why it is there. This is a business and as the owner of your business you have the legal right to refuse service without fear of reprimand provided you are not doing something illegal, immoral or unethical.

Thank you very much for this video. I've only been an Uber and Lyft driver for less than a month. I had a recent epiphany concerning exactly the things you said in your video. The rating system is two-sided. Just as we're expected to be the best driver we can be, our passengers are expected to be decent passengers. Just tonight I had someone treat me disdainfully. I gave him a '1' with a written explanation. If I'm expected to treat them with respect, then they need to do the same. Again, thank you!

I have been considering changing my rating aspect this week and I think you are right on the money. I am tired of passengers demanding we offer or do something for them when we already are! Just because they are paying for services doesn't mean they have to crap on us. I am going to start honesty rating passengers. There isn't any point in rating them 5 🌟 when they do not rate or leave few stars for the driver. It is time to set the record straight once and for all and let Uber know what kind of people the rider's really are! #UberOn

Great advice, I wish I had seen this one earlier. After only roughly 300 rides part timing in a college town, my rating is the same as yours as of this video and there have been about 30 each less than 5 star ratings from these riders of mine. I have rated everyone 5 stars even though I've waited longer than 5 minutes at the majority of those type of rides, taken BS and disrespectful comments, overloading issues and door slammers, you name it. Even "valley" type girls who can't hold a conversation such has hello and how is your day going. Only twice I have rated below 5 stars. It's time to take a look at how I operate my own car and life when I'm dealing with less than illustrious passengers. Keep up the good work!

Do you keep your tip jar in view for the pax to see and get the hint? I should do that. PS: Kicked three rides out of my car in less than a week. A touchy feely gay drunk guy (though If you are a woman, OK to touch me), a 20 something lady who wanted me to speed on slick pavement near a children's park, and a party of three in Malibu who got in my car and immediately started to belittle me . Today I picked up some guy in multi million dollar home from Beverly Hills and all way to LAX he's telling me how to drive, Finally, I told him I did not appreciate all this back seat driving and that I am the one who is absorbing risk of any unsafe driving. Finally I told him he was in my car, and not a taxi. HE seemed amenable to all that. Gave him 3 stars anyways.
@AutoAuctionRebuilds8 жыл бұрын
I do not use a tip jar, no. I keep some cash in the center console where they can see it. That usually gets the point across. Sorry for the 3 crappy trips, but thanks for sharing them with me! We've all been there!

Drive to the location on the app, hit arrived. College kids seem to be the worst, I refuse to play hide and seek, after 5 min cancel and collect 5 bucks. If they call you, you can judge if a douche or not pretty fast, if they don't sound super nice I'll sit 5 min and cancel, not even try to find them. The video quality is FINE man. What needs to happen is when we rate them we should be able to add notes also, I can't stand when ppl enter an address and not a bar/restaurant name. It make it loads easier if you have the name. P.s. don't beat the system, game the system

everss02 Thanks man. I have been "gaming" it for awhile now. This week, I'm seeing what I can do putting a little effort in. (Little because I'm still staying home, and only accepting pings from here, instead of going out looking for them). Just another experiment. :)

I am learning to use their tone to judge if they will be a problem or not. It's I'm about to start my second week and I have be polite, curious and patient with all my passengers, yet I don't get 5stars on every ride. SMH. I will start canceling on impolite ppl. I love the work but this rating system is stressful, when I open doors for ppl and treat them well, have water, coconut water for them, then I don't get a 5 star rating because someone wants to be an asshole. I'll say goodnight and some act like they don't hear me. I won't be generous with passenger ratings anymore.

Sometimes when driving college students I feel like a baby sitter. Our moral compass as a species is out of balance. Born in 1953 and growing up in an era when kids did not curse out their teachers or parents; when most people had general respect for each other and when young teen males "did not" consider it cool to wear their pants down around their knees while showing off their briefs - that is the background in which my moral compass is rooted. Common sense should dictate that you respect those who are assigned to provide you with services, waiters - drivers - maids, etc. But then common sense is not that common anymore - it seems. Keep trucking Randy and keep the faith.

I slightly disagree with you on the "only rate 5 stars unless it is an amazing experience" idea. If riders did that to us, then we would all be taken off the road for having low ratings. To me a 5 star rating should be "nothing was wrong with the trip" 4 should be a very minor issue. 3 generally rude but otherwise ok. 2 overly rude 1 mess made

If they make me wait, they lose a star If they don't tip, they lose a star.. Funny, 80% of my passengers get 3 stars... The ones with attitude get even less.... I'm really getting burned out cow towing to cheap, entitled passengers for really no money...

Dude, listen to this. I got a uberpool call from the USC area (University of So. Ca. ) as it turns out it was a student that wanted to get from one side of the collage to the other (a pool ride!) I picked up another rider a couple of blocks away, the first pool caller asked if I would drop her off first because she was in a hurry. CAN YOU BELIEVE some people ? the whole ride was less than a mile and she called pool....I gave her 3 stars.

I drove taxi and livery vehicles for several years so I completely understand how hard it can be and how to treat every uber driver with the Same respect i expect them to treat me with, id never give a bad rating unless the driver was reckless driving or drunk lol, good videos i completely relate

Thank you, I take that as quite a compliment. I'm 5'7", 116 lbs, and 44 years old. Auburn hair past my waist, blue eyes ans full blooded Sicilian. Long story, but I was bred and supposed to be born in Katania, Sicily. In some adoption scandal I was born here in Phoenix and adopted immediately, it was prearranged. So I'm an American.

man uber man I feel you. I deliver 5 star rides, be nice to then, engage in a conversation, and get them to their destination in a timely manner. I think I'll get a 5 star, but I turn on my app the next day, my ratings drop .1 point.

@linnell61038 жыл бұрын
+Uber Man they denied me too. I had to email them. I waited 8 months and said f it. I want to say he denied me because my 2014 didnt have pop up locks. I emailed them and told them I drove for uber for a long time and they approved me 2 hrs later. I mean uber man if you got approved for uber with their strict requirements you should try to email lyft like I did. been driving lyft for a month.
@linnell61038 жыл бұрын
+Uber Man well you better email them back because they denied me 8 months ago. I told him my situation and the reason I believe I was denied I guess it was due to my car not having pop-up lock s fast forward I have been driving 4 Lyft about a month now. I told them I was driving with Uber has stricter requirements. when I sent that email they approve me an hour later.

Good info. once again. Thank you. Question: Are drivers penalized in any way that you know of for not accepting ride requests made by those riders who have low ratings?
@AutoAuctionRebuilds7 жыл бұрын
Thank you. No, we are not penalized at all. Cancelling is another story.
@alday968 жыл бұрын
I agree with you to some extent, however the does Uber use the same scale to remove the passenger that they use to suspend the driver. To me I give them all 5 stars if I feel that were good for me and the next driver that picks them up. However, like you I will rate them less than 5 if it was a bad experience, so the other drivers can decide if they want to pick up this passenger. As always, I enjoy your clips very much. Learning a lot.

I agree no more refreshments. My score is 4.75 driving since December before Christmas.I am very curitious and yet some have a bad report on me.I am a widow and am getting tired of the rates with gas going up now.Some think you have to kisss there butts.I am now where I call ahead if it is 14-15 min away because they just might need a ride 2 miles away and it`s just not worth it.I report rider cancled after I call.This has happened to me,and it`s a losss for me.Uber navagation has sent me at times way out of the way and loss of time and gas to me it sucks!!
