100% agree with the statement. Once you drive electric, it's hard to go back to ICE. I enjoyed driving diesel for 14 years. But it's such a convenience to drive electric. The power and torque are very addictive

Waiting for more EV adoption in India. It can contribute to clean city air. A 600 km range is equivalent to an ICE car. The petrol lobby media funded by OPEC is trying hard to prevent EVs. It’s sad India government has cut down on incentives almost entirely

Owner of an Empowered Plus LR here. No issues after upgrading to version 15 software.. HV critical errors they mentioned are with the electrical system, Not software. HV critical errors affect all their vehicles on all variants. Reasons range from motor issues, traction motor issues, HV wiring issues, PTC heater module issues etc. Software bugs can be solved by a restart. HV critical errors are electrical issues and need towing

Agreed. We have 3 Tata Nexon EVs in our compound, and SOP is not to add anything electrical to them, as well as physically lock the USB Port. We have not had ANY problems with any of those EVs - except for one episode where some sort of a fault at a public charger brought our Nexon EV to restricted/safe mode. Sorted out by next morning by efficient RSA and Tata Motors Urs workshop in Mysuru.

Unfortunately all new EV launches are in the 20-25 lakh range and in the 5-20 lakh range only MG has got the product to compete with Tata. So MG is going to win volumes. I hope Tata invests in QC, so that service network takes a breather. Curvv EV will get a price cut around Feb or Mar by 2.0 lakh, to bring it close to 15.5 lakhs. I dont think Mahindra will launch the XEV 7e below 20 lakhs inspite of the GST advantage of EV over ICE. It will be same price as a Xuv700 Petrol Automatic on-road Mumbai

TML has found a solution for HV Alert. Normally HV Critical alert would come whenever there is a sudden drop in voltage in HV battery. The causes for the same are most likely some bad cells. So there is another option which Tata Motors took, they actually accepted the lower voltage and reduced the vehicles DTE to match the current available battery voltage. These happened through BMS software update and now instead of HV Crtitical Alert, we get SOC and DTE drops :(

There is no point for TATA to bring out conversion EVs when so many grounds up EVs are already available in market. Conversion EV's lose out the single most important advantage of born evs, the electrical and electronic architecture. Born EVs are way ahead in this matter compared to ICE/ conversion EVs.

14:58 I have to disagree here as an automotive software engineer. Software in EVs is not exponentially unreliable. The problem is most OEMs are moving to new EE centralized architectures with their new EV platforms because that’s the future. These architectures are new and prone to issues just like any new technology. These are exponentially more sophisticated to develop than traditional architecture. Automotive still uses traditional processes to develop these. The industry is going through a paradigm shift. The EV software like battery or motor control in itself are not any more complicated than ICE control software.

I just dont see the average guy buying an EV as their first choice vehicle. It triggered a debate at work where a lot of folks said they would definitely look at EV as their second car which they would use for city commute. However the limited EV infrastructure, higher charging time for batteries might make most folks opt out for cross city travel. I do hope theough that EV does gain a strong foothold forcing private and public entities to look at widening its adoptibility in the next 15 years

As we approach mid-2025, I believe Mahindra's new products will face stiffer competition, especially with Tata launching the Sierra EV and other offerings. Personally, I find the design of the Sierra EV more appealing compared to the BE.6. It’s disappointing that the Indian car market isn’t focusing much on small cars anymore. Automakers keep rolling out large, bulky vehicles, which aren’t always practical for a space-constrained city like New Delhi.

Should we wait for more denser batteries, e.g. LiS or it would be long wait? At present LR just means bigger battery, but why carry unnecessary weight 90% of time. Smaller battery can serve if charging time is under 15 min on highways. Another option would be wait and watch for REEV

Mark my words, EVs will still struggle to sell in volumes in India even by 2035 because of the very fact that there is no peace of mind in owning EVs and even thinking of going on long haul trips without doing Google search for charging stations and having range anxiety. More so, lack of well maintained functional chargers outside city area or even inside city. And considering we live in a country where govt. cannot even resolve potholes and basic road infra, expecting charging EV infrastructure everywhere is just too unrealistic to have from the govt., not to mention the electricity supply deficit across India. We have power cuts in cities and metros often, which is a revelation of the fact that our countries infrastructure isn't ready to handle the power demand of EVs if they at all sell. India currently needs basic road infra and improved power supply infra first before thinking of an ecosystem which is best fit for only first world countries like EU, US, China!

I am currently in the middle of a 1500 Km road trip accross Uttarakhand. The last EV I saw was in Dehradun 7 days ago and that was an Ola scooter. Point being, EV infra is ages behind for EVs to become mainstream. I cannot imagine driving and relying on an EV across this road trip nor can someone living here. Even if I get charging at a home stay here, what about breakdowns? No mechanic here is capable of fixing these soulless gadgets. I personally will avoid EVs until I can. Hybrids are a more viable and logical options to reduce dependency on fossil fuels for now.

I don't see the launches from Mahindra as market-disrupting products, owing to their niche styiling and price tag. What nobody is talking much about is the cost of electricity in a scenario where EV adoption goes high. ESCOMS will progressively increase the price of electricity. Right now, charging at home costs about ₹1 per km and with public infra charging it costs ₹2.5. This will change dramatically if ESCOMs increase power tariffs. iCE cost per KM is at Rs.10 on an average. Question when will EV become unattractive.

EVs are failing in the land of Tesla because they have not lived up to their expectation in range, specially during harsh winter, battery longevity due to early degradation, ease and price of charging, their high cost of purchase and ownership and general practicality like space and even safety which is a serious concern. While the EV market in both USA and China are collapsing, there seems to be a boom of new models coming out in India with promises of low cost, high features and lifelong battery waranty. Is there some thing that India knows that the world has completely missed? Is EV being reinvented in India?
