Nicely done. I've installed multiple stripe kits over the years, and as far as replacing/applying, I've always preferred removing the backing completely and then using a soapy water solution to maneuver the stripes into place (probably because it just gives me too much anxiety attempting to do it dry). For replacing, I just run tape right up against the existing stripe that is being replaced, removed said stripe, and then the tape would act as a "fail-safe" guide to butt the new strip up against (again, using a soapy solution to fine tune positioning). That said, you did a fantastic job using the method you did.

thanks for the feedback first time doing it and i am happy but it did test my patience this section was tricky with the bumper changes in contour as i showed. i almost want to do it again and again for practice to get better at this. best way to learn any skill is to make mistakes until you get it perfect that is how i learned everything i know today with cars and fabrication.

@@autofanaticcars I have. It can seem daunting if you have little experience with vinyl. Having OCD also makes placing vinyl a bit nerve wracking, but once you have some experience with vinyl, it becomes much less problematic.

@autofanaticcars4 жыл бұрын
yes it is the one thing with PPF is that is far more forgiving than vinyl since it is so much thicker to work with, the vinyl you got to be very careful not to overstretch it and tear it,

Looks like an excellent job. I had to replace one side of my stripe below the license plate. On my 11 GT500. And the outer pinstripe is not part of the main stripe it is totally separate. I'm glad to see they made it all one piece on the new ones.

AF - “Something is going to pop up in the middle of the Highway!” Just had the front of my S550 damaged by a section of tractor trailer “recap” tire. The tire exploded immediately in front of me on I-95 in Connecticut. Longest 1/2 second of my life; center lane, no place to go, I knew I was going to hit the tire section. Visible damage was not too bad. Still need to check the under body, as the recap section went under the car.

I had a girlfriend back in 1979 in Detroit. Her job was putting the firebird decal on the transams and firebirds. She had Nerves of steel but always had sticky fingers. Can you imagine phil running a window tint-PPF company. He would have to charge a lot as he only does 1 car a month. But it would be perfect.

Good job. Doing this kind of work takes a lot of patience. Ford probably uses a custom 3D printed jig in the factory to apply this stuff (that's how they do the "L I M I T E D" free floating letters on some models of vehicle)

yeah there is now way the assembly line does this by hand I bet a series of robots do it or special fixtures by a physical operator otherwise it would be to time consuming.
