Oh boy, the difference is like switching from Camry to BMW 3. The overall heft, the way doors open/close, overall trim, handling, mood lights, no-stalk driving, backseat screen, ventilated seats, improved struts, etc., all make it feel like a completely different class of car. Highly recommend. The 1 and only negative is that it feels a bit heavier - what I liked the most about my 2020 Model 3 was that for a very heavy car it felt so light and handling overall felt so effortless like a work of art. 2024 Model 3 LR on the other hand feels a bit more like a hefty luxury car with, and it leads to more physical exertion when handling.

Just FYI regarding the lack of a carbon ceramic brakes on the performance model. For this price range, it makes way more sense to have traditional steel brakes. When you start doing track days in this, you are going to be replacing brake parts at a much higher interval. And when replacing a carbon ceramic setup can be $10,000 or more, it gets painful unless you're stupid rich. So even though the CC brakes may offer better track performance, it's much more practical to stick with steel brakes (which also work and feel better in normal street driving to)

Thinking it’s time to trade in our BMW and have 2 model 3’s
@patrutherford96005 ай бұрын
@Glazenbol-uo2ni to each their own of course. I bet many of those cars are better for folks who like the familiarity of the ICE cars they come from. But an entry e35 costs more than the most expensive model 3. Im betting a less exciting driving experience..at least for my taste. While not a fan of the value for money on many European cars, I can still appreciate some of their ICE offerings. Not convinced their EVs will be great but haven't driven one.. The Mercedes personnel urged a family member of mine to avoid the EQS and one other EV model last I was there. Too many coming back with issues.. Of course this may have just been local.. I remember when people were gravitating towards Scion back in the day because they thought they looked neat and too many people drive civics and corollas, etc. Im sure it worked out for some of them but I never felt a compulsion to stand out after high school.
@patrutherford96005 ай бұрын
@Glazenbol-uo2ni When you said, "now with the price drops, it's just an entry level car." I am curious as to what you meant. As far as feeling premium, it is better in every way than the previous model. I think people want more expensive cars because there is an illusion they're better and that an affordable car is for the lesser folks lol I any event, I've spent some time in my brothers e46 M3. Fun car, but it can't route power to the front or back at a moments notice or be AWD if it likes. And for the price of the cheapest BMW I'd certainly take the Long range or performance Model 3. I guess I don't see a lot of value in running my fingers across leather I only know is nice because I paid a lot for it.

I went to teslas website and was thinking "this is nice but you lose 40 miles of EPA estimated range compared to the long range... then i thought ... you ONLY lose 40 miles of EPA estimated range.. 🤔"
@Geckogold6 ай бұрын
And if that bothers you that much, you can likely get an 18 inch aftermarket wheel for it to regain some if not most of that range back. But in my experience with my Model Y, long distance travel has gotten a lot easier overall in a Tesla because they keep adding more and more superchargers in many places, so going as far as you absolutely can on one charge is less of an issue than how fast can you charge at each station you do stop at. Or as Out of Spec Motoring calls it, "supercharger hopping". While you do have to stop more often, your overall trip is usually faster because you're spending less time at said superchargers compared to doing long deep charges at fewer ones that the car tends to do if you don't want to optimize the trip speed. At one stop, it told me to deep charge for about 40 minutes to make it to the next supercharger which was about two hours away. If I was eating at a restaurant, that might've been fine. But since it was the middle of the night, I instead picked the next supercharger in between where I was charging and where the car wanted me to go. I only had to charge another 5 minutes to make it to the next one, then stopped at that one for maybe 15 minutes, compared to if I did the 40 minutes it originally wanted me to do. This doesn't always work of course, because if the supercharger is full or you're at a V1/V2 supercharger, you'll probably have to wait. Should also be interesting as more non-Tesla EVs are able to use the V3/V4 superchargers and how they'll impact Tesla owners.

If they were really serious about the environment with those deductions they should only apply it to the most basic models with the highest efficiency numbers, and not the ones that burn through the precious 'green' energy the quickest just for speed.
