The interior design is OK I guess. But it seems like they are trying too hard to look high tech, comes across as cheesey not well thought out. That 15 inch screen is flat out ridiculous…hard stop for me. I’d also rather see a traditional gear changing mechanism. The centre rear seat cup mechanism is horrible and will be hugely unpopular. Overall, I fail the interior design of this car. R-Line? I hate the way it looks: The high gloss black and the gaping maw of a front grill looks bad. On the other hand, the Elegant looks great. My main issue? It looks like a Toyota or Kia. This doesn’t look like a VW.

As the owner of MK2 pre facelift, I have ordered MK3. The interior is much better than MK2 material and option wise, also the physical buttons on the steering wheel are back. The mk2 facelifted climate controls are more or less the same, easy to access touch buttons with backlight. The only questionable thing for me is the gear selector placement and less control over the wipers because of this. I like the exterior of new R-line with black style package, looks fresh and distinct enough from the other car brands.

Does it still come with the neat USB at the rear view mirror for a dashcam plug? I found that a really useful touch. We all need dashcams for manufactures that don't offer them from the factory. One in the rear would be even better. While I'm at it, a clip and port for an iPad on the rear of the front seats. I'd happily pay for those options, just to keep the kids entertained on those long road trip without having to hold the cell phone for hours. Lighted emblem is a gimmick but I wouldn't mind it if there was an on/off toggle. I like it better with the name to the side rear panel rather than the middle. I glad to hear the larger infotainment screen is an option. The 15" is way too big and not esthetic at all. Other than that. the interior is greatly improved. Save the hard plastic at the rear sill. @2:26 A portmanteau.

I think we are seeing first AI designed cars and it is beyond ridiculous. "Elegance" written on the door sill in a random font is about the most inelegant thing one can have. Also the Iguana Tiger moment is trying to attract more customers with the cuteness seen on other brands, mostly Stelantis. Just overall, while not insulting, it is a beyond ridiculous amalgamation of shapes and colors lead by AI generated market research analytics and pretty much the exact opposite of what any self respecting stylish person would like. Such as a Spyker or a Pagani.

Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. I also bought cars with animal skin leather seats before I did my research and got to know the industry. The most important thing is: With today's modern materials, you have nothing to lose, just to gain. You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment. You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. The classic approach is using oil/plastic as source material. Overall, a vehicle contains about 300 kg plastic. A car seat needs about 5 kg plastic. So the overall plastic share for the seats is very low and it is at this moment the most efficient way to produce a car seat. A couple of litres of fuel equals a car seat basically. So if you want to save oil/plastic, rather look at consumption for energy, fuel and heating and to other car parts than the seat. Note that animal skin leather also always contains a plastic coating for durability. However, long-term we should of course find raw oil alternatives. So going further, seats can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even increased share of plant-based materials (like pine oil, canola oil or start-up materials like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum, so be seen at kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWLEf42bpMano6c). On a calculation base, by ditching animal skin leather from car interiors, the amount of emissions (CO2e) is reduced by 85 (!) % (www.press.bmwgroup.com/africa-dom-easteurope/article/detail/T0403389EN/on-the-market-from-2023:-bmw-and-mini-models-with-vegan-interiors?language=en) - and that is a very conservative calculation. So it is at this moment the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable. A good example for high-end luxury with ventilated animal free seats is the BMW X7 with Sensafin: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6G1f56NbtOlqNk And the Kia EV9 with plant-based oil share: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKe7loOHnsSAd80 New leatherette materials can be superior in every aspect, even for cleaning: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2qXiouAbJeIiqM More and more natural materials are rising: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIO2pIt7o9x7etE Also check out what the animal skin leather industry tried to with our channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIHCdKmCocZ5oqs For seeing how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpzNdHSjppaSbqc Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally. In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat is the "first" misuse case, the hide remains a profitable body part. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you demand it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and harms the environment, you make them more profitable. Alternatively, you could support industries with your wallet which try to improve the sustainability of materials. Also, if you turn the argument around to "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize that it doesn't make sense (and is ethically doubtful) to discuss the primary use of individual body parts of mammals. Mind experiment: You are getting slain down on the street; would it matter to you if it was for your smartphone or for your purse? We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.

PHEVs could be a good solution for some people, but automakers view them only as “compliance” vehicles, which means they perform poorly, have lot of defects, have high consumption both in electric mode and in combustion mode at highway speeds (when you’d need the engine). A good PHEV which consumes less than 16Wh/km in EV mode and can do more than 15 km/l at highway speeds (130km/h) would be an excellent car. But no one makes it. All PHEVs are shit.

I have not found very good information on the PHEV powertrain specs, but it looks like power outputs are (petrol+electric=total) 150+54=204hp and 177+95=272hp. I would expect the difference in electric power (54 vs. 95) to have a significant impact on pure electric use. Then again, some source say the difference is only the electric motor power, but that seems unlikely. Are you able to clarify, or at least tell which you tested?

We were scheduled to replace wifey’s 2014 BMW X3 in late summer when the 2025’s come out. We were looking only at the Honda CRV, but now the 2025 VW Tiguan looks most promising. Design and engineering of the new Tiguan looks awesome. I had a VW ID4 on order. But when it arrived the design and software was awful so I rejected it after waiting 6 months. I am glad that VW returned to its traditional , well executed design rather than rounded lumpy awful aesthetic of the ID4. Kudos to VW. Is the new Passat coming back to the US? I hope so.

Also a group of researchers and German journalists from public media could recent directly trace the connection between car animal leather production and illegal burning down Amazon rain forest: www.daserste.de/information/reportage-dokumentation/ard-story/videos/illegales-leder-video-100.html In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. Remember that animal skin leather is no different to fur, fur is just leather where the hair is still on. And fur is widely not accepted for clothing anymore, and of course not for cars. We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future. For a great insight into sustainability in the automotive industry, you can also check out our extensive documentary: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2nKf4uih6yhnaM

it's really expensive unfortunately for what's offering.. In my country(Romania), a mild hybrid it's sold for 42k euro which it's really a huge price... I think the PHEV will be way over 55k which it's a shame, with this money you can go for a GLC. Also, the waiting time of 9months+ it's really a shame.

I feel like the new Tiguan interior design wise is like a bunch of puzzles that don't fit, the previous gen steering wheel was obviously to cater to the backlash of touch controls(rightly so) mixed with mainly touch centre console. Also relocating the gear lever to simplify, great idea, but why plonk a button right in the middle instead? Why not have a clean centre console with maybe clever storage options? Like a place to keep a small laptop or folders? VW used to be leading edge for ergonomics. Feel like this is a rushed job, which is a big risk for one of their major sellers.

There are a few things I want to point out that I would really like to see in cars again but first idk what vw is doing with theirs designs right now. The id2all looks again really classic vw but they seem now to go more and more in this ev look directions with a design that was clearly only made for the id3. And it is kinda sad that we need to point out felt in the doors with cars at these prices (looking at you 5er bmw). A thing that also made me curious after your materials video I would really want to see more higher trim premium fabric seats. Like cord and such. Like the Japanese used to do. Microfiber is cool and all but why not more options? 😅😅 nevertheless enjoyable video as always👍

Do you know what cruising speed the engine cut in taking over from the electric motor? I had a Lexus and in theory it was limited to less than 30 mph but in reality over 17 mph it switched to engine. This was virtually useless for mixed town and highway driving.

the interior is so cheap looking. hard plastic and bare metal everywhere. and its 20-30% more expenssive than all the competition. even the base version. like this is mercedes or bmw kind of money. but compare this to a cx-60 top spec and it looks like 2 completely different class of cars, yet the mazda is cheaper than the base version of the tiguan.... how does VW get away with it, why do ppl buy this crap

I wonder why is Thomas suddenly a diesel hater… hmm is he payed to talk trash about disels.. i am your subscriber for ever and i never saw u before talking so bad about the disel engines 🧐 having diesel sound in town? U serious… new diesel engine are so quiet in low speeds is crazy..but when u accelerate on highway than u can really hear it… so why are diesels still best sellers in every category basically if they are so terrible? U always so proudly say for every brand that they are cancelling ICE in 2026 or 27 or 28 .. you really think that’s good for their business???? Thomas to be confident and not delusional is a real skill. I congratulate you ☺️

Can someone explain to me why you can only get electric front seats for driver and passenger in the New Tiguan by opting for the leather seats package. I don’t mind VW’s long standing options policy but why can’t there be an ‘electric seats’ option which is free-standing and not linked to leather. I have test driven an ID3 and it had electric seats and microfibre seat upholstery. Please can this inconsistency be fed back to VW.
