For those who seem confused… if the s5 is making low 400whp (as the owner claims) and it’s heavier, this result makes perfect sense. The TU in the m340i makes about 380whp stock… on 93 octane. With a down pipe, intake and a few gallons of e85 430wheel is about right. The b58 CRAVES ethanol at any mix. At which case you have two cars in the low 400whp range and the lighter one pulls only a car by ~150mph. Nothing crazy if you know the cars involved… Lastly the b58 has insane top end for the 3liter turbo package as witnessed by it often running well against even large displacement motors. I personally know both these cars well enough as a former s4 owner who jumped to a (f30) 340i myself for many of the reasons outlined above. Weight, top end, tuning potential and lastly reliability (EA839 does NOT have a good reliability record compared with the B58). I had a b8.5 s4 (supercharged 3liter) and when it came time to upgrade the b9 had too many issues and too low of a ceiling comparatively. Prior I had been pretty anti-bmw due to reliability but Audi dropped the ball on the EA839 and BMW stepped up enough with B58 to be co-signed by Toyota. The BMWs also remain lighter, and do have a much higher tuning ceiling (on stock turbo at least). The TU motor in the m340i even more so than even the Gen1 B58 which still tunes better than the EA839. I drove the M340i too when shopping but you felt the extra weight, I hated the looks compared to the f30 and they were like 15 grand more and so I chose a low mileage f30+all the performance and aesthetic mods I wanted and still have 10g left (over having spent on the m340i) to save for a M2. The ONLY thing the G 340s have over the f30 (besides the TU motor) is factory LSD. As for the Audis they’re a very nice car, I personally think the interior and tech is superior, and also they look cleaner and more attractive than the G body 340s.

first of all u are wrong,like every butthurt bmw owner. the b8.5 s4 its using ea837 engine,ea839 its in the s5 from the video b9/b9.5. second thing,they are by far more reliable than b58,both ea837,ea839.u can check 034motorsports running 700whp with ea839,no problem till this day. and if we are speaking how they are like from factory..well,more reliable both of vag engines.go to sleep

We talked about it last night. This Audi will remain taking L’s until turbos are upgraded. For you to run stage2 they recommend “require” FMIC. Definitely heat soaked. I feel that. TTE810 SQ5 owner here.

M340’s need built transmissions to run low 10’s, the B9 S4/S5 does not. There’s 3 people running 9’s with the TTE710/810 turbo on the b9, it’s a simple bolt on turbo and turns these into a monster

I feel like the m340i had a base map of some sort, stock they make around 350-360 whp, I’m pretty sure you can’t run the car with E and no tune.

Stock from factory alone is 380 with a downpipe 410 and with E30 about 420-430 to the wheel . It can’t have a base map if it’s unlocked with ecutek bc ecutek only runs custom e50 or e85 tunes.

A5 has waaaay more transmission losses. A5 is there despite being heavyer and runing THREE DIFFERENTIALS instead of only ONE at bmw. Audi also is able to go in alps at ski on snow covered roads and to offer some fun without too much risk in those conditions. Bmw (x drive, not that from here) .. forget about it if you have to climb snow covered mountain roads.

It’s not complicated, the RS has a 2.9 twin turbo, S has single turbo 3.0. No different than current BMW, twin on the big boys, single on the step down.
