Looking forward to the next part in the series. Would love to see a more in-depth view of the sensors/microcontroller hardware

I can't wait to see more in this series. I've been tinkering with ESP8266 and ESP32 chips for the last year or so, writing all kinds of custom code to do similar temperature monitoring. Then I see this on ESPHome with HomeAssistant, which is way easier. I'd love to automate my peppers and romaine, so I don't have to water them manually and such. This series had perfect timing since I was getting ready to buy a bunch of peristaltic pumps and DIY.

Thanks for these awesome videos! FYI i didnt have "App Configuration" in the side menu, i found it under Configuration > Companion App > clicked username at the top > external URL was already setup and ready. Just took a few minutes to work over LTE.

Hey, sorry for the delay on it. Life’s been busy as hell. It’s 90% done and I’m gonna do my level best to finish it tonight. It’ll be published this week one way or another.

Issues with creating cloud account. I get an unexpected error processing request for /api/cloud/register and have not been able to get this figured out. Any tips?

Wondering if you can help with the Wifi settings? I’ve inputted the creds like 6 times… says it’s accepted and saved. I’ll unplug Ethernet and it loses connection, even if I restart it. I’ll check the creds and they’re all saved. Is this a known bug?

Note from an Android User when using the nabu.casa method of remote access: In App Configuration i dont have a "connection" tab but i do have a Home Assistant URL. It originally was the IP of my Pi but because i didnt have an option to connect via cloud, i just used the link provided when you sign up for Nabu.Casa. It disconnected then reconnected pretty quick.

Another great video! One thing I dont understand though. I can run home assistant on a desktop computer through a Virtual machine right? But to do this you need to install a virtual machine yadda yadda yadda. Why dont the dev's make a linux based os that I could run directly off my server pc. Maybe it's already been done but I dont know how yet.

You can install HA directly on a raspberry pi as an OS

I've been using Blynk for a couple years and just getting started with HA. I want a better UI to show all the data. I use Blynk mainly to notify me if there is a problem like Power out, temps to high... It sends a email to my phone every 20 seconds until that alert is turned off. It has gotten me out of bed a few time and saved my ass. Does HA have something like tha t and are you going to over it? This is exactly want I needed when I needed it. Thank you 😃

Not sure about android but I send critical alerts to my iPhone at full volume which is what I’m doing for flood and high-temp detection. It’s saved me twice with leaks! What kind of phone are you on?

@@LEDGardener android. I'm using a esp32 and a t-mobile wifi hotspot. So, Its on it's own network and internet connection. I think its more reliable than my cable internet connection.

@@LEDGardener Hey, Can that be setup to alert repeatly? Just in case, I dont hear right away. In Blynk , I have setup to to send an alert every 20 seconds until manauly turnoff alerts with a button in the blynk app. Great series by the way. It's alittle outdated now. But, almost everything is close enough I can figure it out. Thanks for sharing.

For anyone that uses android. Go into App configuration then where it says Home assistant URL with a little "Network planet" change it to your remote control link then on the wifi thing also known as home network WiFi SSID type in test. It should work then if not I am sorry.

allow IP's would be better for security, if SSH is enabled "apt install fail2ban" so SSH attacks are dealt with on the OS level and maybe install "gufw"' if setting command line firewall rules freak you out I am waiting for hardware for noobs because breakout boards have always confused me for some reason
